Abstract

Hypertension is defined as a systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and a diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg. Hypertension is a degenerative disease that requires long-term treatment. Hypertension is a silent killer disease because it does not cause symptoms and is only detected during physical examination due to certain diseases so that it can be a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Hypertension management guidelines recommend the use of thiazide/ACEi/ARB/CCB diuretic class drug monotherapy. The purpose of this study is to determine the difference in effectiveness between Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB) and Angiostensin Receptor Blocker (ARB) antihypertensives in reducing blood pressure. The method used in this study is through literature review using a database through Google Schoolar and Pubmed with a time span of 2013-2023 using the PICO method with keywords or keywords tailored to the search topic and articles selected based on inclusion criteria. The results of the literature show that ARB and CCB antihypertensives have similar effectiveness in lowering blood pressure. CCB antihypertensives are vasculoselective. This can be beneficial because CCBs are able to reduce peripheral resistance without reducing heart function so as to reduce the incidence of stroke. However, the use of CCBs can cause edema while ARBs have renoprotective effects or effects that protect the kidneys.

Abstract

Hypertensive disease is the leading cause of early death worldwide. Hypertension is a common chronic medical condition characterized by sustained increases in arterial pressure. The high risk of side effects in the use of antihypertensive medicine for a long period of time causes non-pharmacological therapy of hypertension to be an alternative choice. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of non-pharmacological therapy in hypertensive patients in reducing and controlling normal blood pressure. The study used a literature review method with data sources of international scientific journals and articles using the PubMed database. The information search strategy used a combination of keywords such as "non-pharmacological therapy for hypertension" and "the effectiveness of non-pharmacological therapy in hypertension". Through the database search, 190 scientific articles and journals were obtained. A total of 12 scientific journals and articles were selected as reference sources for research that met the criteria. The results obtained from 12 journals and scientific articles showed that non-pharmacological therapy for hypertension was effective in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Non-pharmacological therapies recommended according to the reference sources are lifestyle modification, increasing physical activity such as aerobic exercise, intake of low sodium salt, acupuncture therapy, listening to music, relaxation therapy and increasing compliance with therapeutic interventions.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure exceeds normal limits i.e. blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg. Hypertension in pregnancy consists of four categories, namely preeclampsia/eclampsia, chronic hypertension, superimposed preeclampsia with chronic hypertension and gestational hypertension. Hypertension in pregnancy should be managed appropriately to reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality rate, i.e. by preventing women from getting the risks of increased blood pressure, preventing disease progression and preventing the development of seizure and considering termination of pregnancy in life threatening situation for maternal and fetal health. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the management of hypertension in pregnancy. The method used is a literature review, i.e. by searching for both international and national literature using the google scholar and pubmed databases with the keyword "Management of hypertension in pregnancy". There are two categories of antihypertensive drug use in pregnancy, i.e. antihypertensive drugs that can be safely used in pregnancy and antihypertensive drugs to avoid in pregnancy. Antihypertensive drugs that are safe to use are labetalol, nifedipine, methyldopa, hydralazine, magnesium sulfate and prazosin. Antihypertensive drugs that should be avoided are angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, angiotensin receptor blocker, diuretic, beta blocker (except labetalol) and calcium-channel blocker (except nifedipine and diltiazem).

Abstract

Inflammation is a biological response of the immune system that can be triggered by various factor including pathogens, physical trauma and toxic compounds. Prolonged consumption of NSAID as an anti-inflammatory can caused some serious side effects for the body. As a result, many people has switched to using plants as therapy. Another reason for choosing therapy with plants is more affordable, as well as family traditions trust in the efficacy of a plant. The purpose of this review article is to provide information about several medicinal plants that have anti-inflammatory  activity. The method in this study was a systematic literature review which is traced through database, Google Scholar and Pubmed. The literature used was published in 2019 to 2024 and 11 journals were obtained as primary data. Some plants studied as anti-inflammatory are red spinach (Amarathus tricolor L.), Beligo (Benincasa hispida (Thunb.) Cogn.), Pineapple (Ananas Comosus (L.) Merr.), Kecapi (Sandoricum koetjape (Burm.f. ) Merr., Sesewanua (Clerodendrum squamatum Vahl.), Turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.), Aloe vera (Aloe vera L), Tamarind (Tamarindus indica L.), Green grass jelly (Cyclea barbata Miers.) and Galangal (Kaempferia galangal L.). In research on the anti-inflammatory activity of several plants studied, it was proven to be able to improve several inflammatory parameters, but at different doses because it depended on the response of the test animals and the secondary metabolite content of each plant.
