Abstract

An implementation of learning methods have to be adjusted for each course including Research Operation. This course relies on the process of critical thinking, problem solving and concept understanding. The selection of an appropriate learning methods is required to obtain an optimum learning outcome. An analysis of an appropriate learning methods can be done using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). In this paper, AHP is applied to analyse and hence make decisions on appropriate earning methods for studying Operations Research course. The criteria used consist of effectiveness (K1), lecturer ability (K2), specialization (K3) and test scores (K4). While the alternatives used are the learning methods carried out, namely: Problem Based Learning (a1), drill and exercise (a2) and Blended Learning (a3). Based on the priority weight of each alternative, it is obtained that the Problem Based Learning learning method has advantages in effectiveness criteria, Drill and Exercise have advantages in student test score results and Blended Learning has advantages in the ability of lecturers. In calculating the overall weight, Problem Based Learning gives the highest weight among the Drill and Exercise learning methods and Blended Learning.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious public health concern in Indonesia, exacerbated by the limited public understanding of its causes and prevention strategies. This study analyzes public perceptions of stunting based on reviews collected through web scraping from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). Text preprocessing techniques, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) analysis, and dimensionality reduction using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) were applied to a dataset comprising 21 reviews. The results indicate that PCA outperforms SVD in simplifying the relationships among key terms, as evidenced by a lower reconstruction error (0.003861 compared to 0.004232). The dominant factors influencing public perception include education, sanitation, and socio-economic conditions. These findings highlight the critical role of data-driven and visual-based educational strategies in enhancing public awareness and accelerating stunting prevention efforts.

Abstract

Higher education is a continuation of secondary education that is organized to prepare students to become members of the community with academic or professional abilities. Therefore, selecting a university is essential for helping students acquire knowledge and skills and prepare themselves to be independent individuals. This study intends to determine the distribution of decision-making students who select the university based on factors of academic ability, individual characteristics, psychology, instrumental, and environmental factors. The study's methodology, which involves the collection of primary data from 474 respondents from high schools in the Indonesian-Timor Leste border region, is robust and rigorous, instilling confidence in the reader. The method used for data analysis is quantitative, which involves applying structural equation modeling to identify factors that influence students’ selection of universities. The study results showed that out of the six structural models formed, they could provide evidence that factors such as academic ability, individual characteristics, psychology, instrumental factors, and environment influence students’ selection of universities. This can be seen from the test values of the regression model formed in the structural modeling, which gives a P-value of less than 5%. The variable that provided the largest percentage, partially influencing student interest in selecting a state university, was the school environment, which was 98%. The value was based on the path coefficient of structural equation modeling. These findings have significant implications for the design of university admission processes and the development of student support programs.
