Abstract

Childbirth is a mother's subjective experience that is very memorable in her life. It is important to maintain maternal comfort so that the process of adapting to motherhood can run well. Pain during postpartum is one of the factors that prevents mothers from having difficulty adapting during the postpartum period, especially in primapara mothers. A pharmacological method that can be given to increase comfort and reduce the intensity of pain is foot massage. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of foot massage on the comfort and intensity of maternal pain after vaginal delivery during the postpartum period. This type of quasi-experimental research sample consisted of 38 respondents and the sampling technique used simple random sampling. This research was conducted at the Independent Early Midwife Practice in Lubuk Pakam. Respondents consisted of 2 groups, namely the intervention group and the control group. The instruments used were questionnaires, Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Post Partum Comfort Scale (PCS). Data analysis used chi-square/Fisher's exact test, independent-samples t test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The mean maternal comfort score in the intervention group was higher than the control group (143.45 ± 8.96, 119.00 ± 14.65, respectively) with a value of p = 0.000. The mean pain score in the intervention group was lower than the control group (1.36 ± 1.22, 4.95 ± 2.27) and the p value = 0.000. Foot massage is effective in increasing comfort and reducing the intensity of pain after vaginal delivery. The increase in maternal comfort after intervention was 18.34% and the reduction in pain intensity after vaginal delivery was 73%. In this way, midwives can apply foot massage to every mother after vaginal delivery.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises or better known as MSMEs are a type of business owned by small entrepreneurs. MSMEs are a type of business that has assets and turnover that are still relatively small. However, one of the MSMEs, namely in the food and beverage sector, is able to grow up to 6% in 2024. One of the small and medium businesses in the culinary sector that has the potential to be developed is the MSME "Bakso pangsit gerobak ijo" owned by Mr So. This MSME is located in Leteh Village RT 03 / RW 01, Rembang District, Rembang Regency, Central Java. The MSME "Bakso pangsit gerobak ijo" is an MSME that produces Meatballs and Pangsit. In the observation and pre-implementation activities carried out by the KKU team, several obstacles were found that MSMEs faced in running their businesses, namely lack of marketing, business premises that were only in one location, lack of appearance improvements, not yet having business legality, no product identity, limited equipment, and poor financial management. Based on these problems, the KKU team created a mentoring program to help develop the MSMEs which was carried out at the implementation stage, namely by creating a Google Maps account and directions as a sign of the existence of MSMEs, providing education related to promotions, creating product logo designs, providing education on updating product displays, creating business legality, providing assistance with production equipment and providing education related to financial management and financial management for businesses. Through this program, it is hoped that the MSMEs "Bakso pangsit gerobak ijo" will be able to compete, increase sales and increase business income.

Abstract

Carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄) is a commonly used hepatotoxic agent to induce liver injury via oxidative stress and the activation of hepatocyte apoptosis. One hallmark of apoptosis is the increased expression of Caspase-3, a key executor enzyme in the programmed cell death pathway. The ethanol extract of Mobe leaves (Artocarpus lacucha Buch-Ham.) is known to contain bioactive compounds such as flavonoids and triterpenoids, which have demonstrated hepatoprotective potential. This study investigates the hepatoprotective effects of ethanol extract of Mobe leaves (EEML) on Caspase-3 expression in the liver tissues of rats induced by carbon tetrachloride. This experimental study utilized 30 male rats randomly assigned into six groups. The negative control group received CCl₄ - and CMC-Na 1%, while the positive control group received silymarin and CCl₄. Four treatment groups received oral doses of EEML at 50, 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight for 15 days with CCl₄ induction. Caspase-3 expression in liver tissue was analyzed using the immunohistochemistry (IHC) method and quantified based on the number of positively stained cells across five microscopic fields. The results showed a significant reduction in Caspase-3 expression (p<0.05) in the EEML-treated groups compared to the negative control, with the 400 mg/kg dose achieving an effect comparable to silymarin. These findings suggest that EEML possesses hepatoprotective properties through apoptosis inhibition, evidenced by decreased Caspase-3 expression in CCl₄ injured liver tissue.
