Abstract

In today’s competitive job market, the ability to compose a professional English application letter is essential for university graduates, especially in non-native English-speaking contexts. This study explores the implementation and outcomes of a socialization program designed to enhance the English correspondence skills of sixth-semester Management students at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi (STIE) Sultan Agung, Pematangsiantar, Indonesia. A total of 75–80 students were divided into three groups (Group A, Group B, and Group C) and participated in a series of interactive workshops focused on the structure, language, and personalization of English application letters. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, document analysis of student letters, reflection essays, and post-program questionnaires. The results revealed significant improvements in students’ understanding of letter format, grammar usage, and the ability to tailor content to specific job advertisements. Peer review and collaborative learning played a crucial role in increasing student engagement and confidence in using English professionally. The discussion highlights the importance of genre-based instruction and social learning in developing employability-oriented communication skills. The findings emphasize the need for higher education institutions to embed practical, job-focused English training into their curriculum to better prepare students for real-world career demands. This study concludes that structured socialization programs can effectively equip students with the skills and confidence needed to construct impactful application letters, thereby enhancing their readiness for the job market. With the right support, students can take ownership of their career development, starting with how they present themselves on paper.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) on organizational environmental performance in Starbucks coffee shops in Bandung City, Indonesia. The coffee shop industry has a high impact on the environment due to its use of plastic packaging. Starbucks, being one of the most popular coffee brands in Indonesia, has taken steps to implement "go green" and reduce plastic waste. The study explores the effect of four factors - Internal Green Supply Chain Management, Environmental Monitoring of Suppliers, Environmental Collaboration with Customers, and Environmental Performance - on the perspective of Starbucks employees. The results show that all four variables are categorized as very good or strongly agreed, with an overall score of 87-88%. The study's findings provide insights into the benefits of GSCM, such as reducing waste and cost, improving environmental performance, and enhancing a company's image and marketing exposure. This research is useful for writers and entrepreneurs in the coffee shop industry, though it is limited to Starbucks outlets in Bandung City.

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity was held at the HKBP Nommensen Pulu Brayan Medan Church with the aim of increasing the creativity of Sunday School children through fun and interactive educational activities. This program is motivated by the importance of developing creativity and forming children's spiritual character from an early age through a more innovative learning approach in the church environment. The method used in this activity is an experiential learning approach that involves the active participation of children in various creative activities. The program was implemented by adjusting the developmental characteristics of the participants based on their grade level. The activities carried out included a competition to name the twelve disciples of the Lord Jesus for first grade elementary school students, a competition to decorate sketches using pipettes for second grade elementary school students, and a competition to name the fruits of the Spirit for third grade elementary school students. The results of the activities showed that the Sunday School children were enthusiastic and highly participated in every activity carried out. In addition to increasing spiritual understanding, this activity was also able to develop children's creative skills, courage, and fine motor skills. This program also had a positive impact on the church community by creating a more innovative learning atmosphere and establishing good social relationships between the implementing students and the church congregation. Thus, this Community Service (PkM) activity can be an effective creative learning model to support the development of children's creativity and character in the church environment.
