Abstract

Introduction: Pursed-lips breathing (PLB) is a breathing exercise performed on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) to relieve symptoms of dyspnea so that the patient's oxygen saturation value increases, and its practice is widely taught as a breathing strategy to increase tolerance in performing activities. Objective: Determine the effect of pursed lips breathing (PLB) on increasing oxygen saturation in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Method: This study used the method of literature review study. Result: Initial search results found as many as 4011 potential articles. After discarding articles identified as duplication and relevance to the topic, there were 6 articles that met the theme of the literature study, the six journals discussed the effectiveness of PLB in COPD patients. Conclusion: PLB is able to increase the patient's oxygen saturation value, so PLB intervention is recommended for COPD patients with dyspnea symptoms.

Abstract

Abstract

Background. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease that can exacerbate depressive symptoms due to increased symptom burden complications that lead to functional impairment and decreased quality of life. People with T2DM are twice as likely to experience loss of physical function, and decreased physical fitness and strength than people without T2DM. Physical effort is an integral part of programs for disease prevention and management. Physical fitness, depression status, and quality of life have not been specifically evaluated and described after training in these two environments.  This article aims to find and review land and water-based physical exercise intervention research as an alternative solution to improve physical fitness, depression status, and quality of life of T2DM patients. Research Method. Descriptive analysis method. Systematic reviews were evaluated using the PRISMA checklist. Database: Scopus, Science direct, Pubmed, CINAHL, and ProQuest. Article search with the PICOS framework. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal as an alternative to assessing the risk of study bias. Findings. The 25 articles that met the inclusion criteria consisted of 18 (Randomized Control Trials) and 7 (Quasy-experiments). Consisting of land and water-based aerobic classifications that are useful in the physical and psychological aspects of T2DM. Conclusion. There is an influence of land-based and aquatic physical exercise on physical fitness, depressive status, and quality of life in T2DM patients.

Abstract

Background: The increasing prevalence of mental disorders continues to be accompanied by a high level of community stigma, which contributes to delayed help-seeking behavior, poor treatment adherence, and a heightened risk of relapse. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the level of knowledge and attitudes with community stigma toward individuals with mental disorders in Kampung Kadongdong RT 002/003, Pasir Nangka Village, Tigaraksa District, Tangerang Regency. Methods: This research employed a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and involved all 61 heads of households as respondents selected through a total sampling method. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: Nearly half of the respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (47.5%), a neutral attitude (41.0%), and a low level of stigma (41.0%). There was a significant correlation between the level of knowledge and stigma (p = 0.000), as well as between attitudes and stigma (p = 0.005). Conclusion: This study showed a significant relationship between public knowledge and attitudes toward stigma against people with mental disorders; therefore, enhancing mental health literacy through education and anti-stigma campaigns was considered necessary to promote better understanding and acceptance of individuals with mental illnessBackground: The increasing prevalence of mental disorders continues to be accompanied by a high level of community stigma, which contributes to delayed help-seeking behavior, poor treatment adherence, and a heightened risk of relapse.
