Abstract

Background: The increasing prevalence of mental disorders continues to be accompanied by a high level of community stigma, which contributes to delayed help-seeking behavior, poor treatment adherence, and a heightened risk of relapse. This study aims to analyze the correlation between the level of knowledge and attitudes with community stigma toward individuals with mental disorders in Kampung Kadongdong RT 002/003, Pasir Nangka Village, Tigaraksa District, Tangerang Regency. Methods: This research employed a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and involved all 61 heads of households as respondents selected through a total sampling method. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square test with a significance level of α = 0.05. Results: Nearly half of the respondents had a moderate level of knowledge (47.5%), a neutral attitude (41.0%), and a low level of stigma (41.0%). There was a significant correlation between the level of knowledge and stigma (p = 0.000), as well as between attitudes and stigma (p = 0.005). Conclusion: This study showed a significant relationship between public knowledge and attitudes toward stigma against people with mental disorders; therefore, enhancing mental health literacy through education and anti-stigma campaigns was considered necessary to promote better understanding and acceptance of individuals with mental illnessBackground: The increasing prevalence of mental disorders continues to be accompanied by a high level of community stigma, which contributes to delayed help-seeking behavior, poor treatment adherence, and a heightened risk of relapse. Abstract

Background: Aging can cause increased work of breathing and decreased respiratory muscle strength. Furthermore, males and females have different measures of lung function. This alone can become a reason for decreased lung function, especially if there is a history of Covid-19 infection which can cause further damage to the lungs. Purpose: This study investigates the correlation between age and sex differences in the Forced Vital Capacity value of Covid-19 survivors. Method: Using a cross-sectional design with a survey and observational method, this study involved 46 participants that were selected purposively based on their history of being positively diagnosed Covid. Data was collected using a questionnaire and observational form to collect data from the spirometer, then analyzed with the Pearson test and Independent Sample T-test. Result: The result shows that age (mean = 40,89) does have a significant correlation to FVC (mean = 2.3602), with p-value = 0,017 (< 0,05). On the contrary, sex difference does not have a significant correlation with FVC value, with p-value = 0,109 (>0,05). Conclusion: This study reveals that aging can further affect the lung function of Covid-19 survivors, especially when comorbid factors are involved. Moreover, both males and females have the same risk of decreased lung function after being infected by the Covid-19 virus. However, other factors may influence the lung function of Covid-19 survivors. Further research needs to be conducted to scrutinize those other factors.

Abstract

Disorders of the respiratory system continue to be a serious health issue that affects people's quality of life. Unhealthy environmental conditions, significant exposure to pollution, and poor practices of clean and healthy living habits raise the risk of respiratory disorders. The purpose of this activity is to develop community awareness and ability in avoiding respiratory illnesses using the Smart Breathing program as a community promotion and responsive strategy. The activity is carried out through the steps of planning, implementation, assessment, and follow-up. Program execution comprises lung health education, demonstrations of daily activity-based breathing exercises, the construction of local educational media (posters and respiratory kit), and a proclamation of community commitment. 55 participants were evaluated utilizing pretests and posttests. The results demonstrated an increase in community knowledge, with an average pretest score of 53.22 and a posttest score of 73.23. These findings indicate that the Smart Breathing program is effective in increasing community understanding of respiratory disorder prevention, thus contributing to strengthening health awareness, improving self-management skills, and encouraging preventive behaviors in preventing respiratory disorders.

Abstract

Background: Insufficient knowledge of reproductive health among female adolescents contributes to inadequate prevention and early detection of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer frequently develops in early adulthood, despite being preventable through the timely administration of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. This study evaluates the effectiveness of health education media in improving female adolescents' knowledge and attitudes toward the HPV vaccine. Methods: A quasi-experimental quantitative design with a pretest- posttest control group was employed. The sample consisted of 66 participants selected via probability sampling with stratified sampling. Result: Statistical analysis indicated that both the engklek and crossword puzzle intervention groups demonstrated significant improvements in knowledge and attitudes following the intervention (p < 0.05), while the control group showed no significant changes (p < 0.05). One-way ANOVA revealed significant differences in knowledge and attitudes among the engklek, crossword, and control groups (p = 0.000). Post hoc and N-gain analyses indicated that crossword puzzles were the most effective in enhancing adolescents’ knowledge. Conclusion: Crossword puzzle media can serve as an effective tool for disseminating information about the HPV vaccine. Enhanced dissemination is anticipated to increase HPV vaccine coverage and reduce cervical cancer risk.
