Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and its implications for the internalization of anti-corruption values among students in public junior high schools (SMPN) in Singaraja City. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with teachers involved in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMP Negeri 2 and SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja. The findings indicate that implementing the Merdeka Curriculum has positive implications for the internalization of anti-corruption values, particularly through project-based learning and the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (Proek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila/P5), which facilitates the contextual cultivation of values such as honesty, responsibility, and integrity. The curriculum's flexibility allows teachers to design character education that is relevant to students’ learning experiences. However, these implications have not yet been fully optimized due to several constraints, including limited operational guidelines for anti-corruption education, insufficient teacher training, and uneven understanding among students and educators regarding the substance of anti-corruption values. In addition, institutional support from schools and family involvement in reinforcing value-based practices remain suboptimal. This study recommends strengthening collaborative strategies among schools, local governments, and the community to ensure the sustainable internalization of anti-corruption values within the Merdeka Curriculum framework. This research contributes to the development of contextual character education practices and provides insights for the formulation of anti-corruption education policies at the school level.

Abstract

The transformation of education in the 21st century requires a curriculum that moves beyond content delivery and focuses on developing core competencies such as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication (4C). This study investigates strategies for integrating 4C skills into curriculum development using a library research approach. The data were obtained from peer-reviewed scientific articles published between 2021 and 2025 and analyzed thematically. The results show that critical thinking can be fostered through blended learning, inquiry-based learning, critical reflection, academic debate, and clinical simulation. Collaboration develops through interprofessional education, interdisciplinary projects, community partnerships, and the use of digital technology. Creativity is supported by STEAM approaches, project-based learning, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and maker education. Communication is enhanced through simulation training, narrative-based learning, mentoring, and digital media. These findings emphasize the need for systemic and flexible curriculum reform, supported by educator training and technological integration. A future-ready curriculum must act as a transformative space that prepares learners to think critically, act creatively, collaborate effectively, and communicate meaningfully in a complex and interconnected global environment.

Abstract

Increased awareness of the importance of mental well-being as a crucial factor in students' academic and personal development demonstrates the need to integrate psychology education into the school curriculum. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the educational psychology curriculum designed to improve students' mental well-being. Using a systematic review approach using the PRISMA method, this study synthesizes the existing literature on the impact of psychology education in schools. The findings of the study show that the integration of mental health literacy, stress management techniques, and social-emotional learning (SEL) in the school curriculum significantly improves students' emotional resilience, reduces academic stress, and builds positive interpersonal relationships. The curriculum also plays an important role in the early identification of mental health problems and offers effective preventive measures. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive approach, which includes trauma-based treatment, mindfulness techniques, and a collaborative model involving teachers, mental health professionals, and families. This research emphasizes the importance of ongoing professional training for educators as well as interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure the effective implementation of mental health support in educational settings. The study advocates the integration of these practices into the standard curriculum to support students' mental well-being and academic success in the long term.

Abstract

Traditional mathematics education often struggles to connect abstract concepts with real-world relevance, particularly in geometry, where students find it challenging to visualize spatial relationships and applications. This study addresses this gap by integrating Balinese Meru temple architecture into a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model infused with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) to improve students’ conceptual understanding of geometry. A quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design was employed, involving 63 eighth-grade students (31 in the experimental group and 32 in the control group) at SMP Negeri 1 Singaraja, Indonesia. The experimental group participated in PjBL-STEAM activities exploring Meru temple geometry, while the control group received conventional instruction. Data were collected through post-tests assessing conceptual understanding, analyzed using independent sample t-tests, and supplemented with observations and interviews. Results indicated that the PjBL-STEAM approach incorporating Meru temple geometry significantly outperformed conventional methods, with the experimental group achieving a higher mean score (81.84 vs. 73.05, p = 0.024). Students demonstrated an improved ability to articulate geometric concepts, identify relevant examples, and apply their knowledge within cultural contexts. The study concludes that culturally contextualized PjBL-STEAM enhances conceptual mastery by bridging abstract mathematics with tangible cultural artifacts, suggesting its potential for broader application in other educational areas.

Abstract

Students' mathematical spatial abilities are still relatively low, especially in geometry. This study aims to analyze the effect of an immersive learning approach on students' mathematical spatial abilities. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group design. The study population was all ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Mendoyo, with a sample selected using cluster random sampling technique, consisting of an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through a mathematical spatial ability test and analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent sample t-test. The results showed that the average mathematical spatial ability of students in the experimental class (88.59) was higher than that of the control class (61.41). Prerequisite tests showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The t-test results showed a significance value <0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Thus, the immersive learning approach proved effective in improving students' mathematical spatial abilities and had a significant effect, making it suitable for application as an alternative in mathematics learning in geometry.

Abstract

The changing landscape of 21st-century education demands that mathematics learning is no longer oriented towards procedural reproduction, but rather towards the development of higher-order thinking skills, contextual problem-solving, and students' affective engagement. The integration of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is seen as a potential pedagogical strategy to address these challenges. Although various studies report the effectiveness of PjBL-STEM on mathematics learning outcomes, studies that comprehensively integrate learning effectiveness, learning differentiation, and students' affective dimensions are still limited. This study aims to systematically examine the application of the STEM-based PjBL model in mathematics education with a focus on learning effectiveness, differentiation practices, and students' affective dimensions. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach with reference to the PRISMA guidelines. Articles were collected from Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and ERIC databases, with a publication range of 2015–2025. Twelve articles that met the criteria were analyzed using thematic content analysis and narrative synthesis. The review results show that STEM-based PjBL consistently has a positive impact on mathematical cognitive outcomes, problem-solving abilities, and 21st-century skills. However, learning differentiation strategies are generally not explicitly designed, and affective variables are often required as additional variables. These findings emphasize the need to develop integrative and inclusive PjBL-STEM designs that systematically consider diverse student characteristics.
