Abstract

Background : Female sex workers (FSWs) and seafarers are high-risk groups for HIV transmission, especially in isolated coastal regions such as Muara Berau, East Kalimantan. Complex interactions between economic dependency, limited health service access, and gender inequality contribute to inconsistent condom use and high-risk sexual behavior. Although global studies have examined these dynamics, Indonesian maritime and port contexts remain understudied Objective : To summarize, analyze, and interpret research findings related to perceptions and preventive behaviors against HIV transmission among FSWs and seafarers, emphasizing condom negotiation, structural barriers, and contextual risk factors in coastal communities Research Methods/ Implementation Methods : A narrative review was conducted using 32 scientific articles published from 2010 to 2025, retrieved from national and international journals. The literature was analyzed thematically using theoretical frameworks including the Health Belief Model (HBM), Social Ecological Model (SEM), and Theory of Gender and Power to identify determinants of condom use, behavioral change, and prevention barriers Results : Findings reveal that HIV prevention among FSWs and seafarers is influenced by economic pressures, client dominance, social stigma, and limited access to health services. Knowledge and perceived benefits of condom use are often high, but behavioral consistency remains low. Structural barriers—mobility, gender power imbalance, and lack of outreach—exacerbate risk exposure. Conclusion/Lesson Learned : Effective HIV prevention in coastal Indonesia requires multilevel interventions addressing socio-economic, behavioral, and structural determinants. Empowering FSWs’ negotiation capacity, enhancing seafarers’ awareness, and strengthening outreach-based health programs are essential to close the knowledge–practice gap

Abstract

Port porters are at high risk of occupational accidents and musculoskeletal disorders due to the use of non-ergonomic lifting and carrying techniques. Complaints such as pain in the back, neck, shoulders, and other body parts are common problems among stevedoring workers. This activity aims to improve the capacity of port porters through ergonomic evaluation, education, and training so they can work safely and more productively. The approach used is community empowerment with the Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR) method, which includes five stages: problem identification, priority setting, program design, outcome evaluation, and follow-up. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in porter knowledge at Samarinda Port, although some participants still do not apply correct lifting techniques in the field. It is hoped that ongoing socialization activities can be carried out by trained porters to colleagues who have not received training, so that this program can be sustainable and have an impact on improving safety and work productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of work–life balance, job stress, and work discipline on employee performance in Food and Beverage companies. The FnB industry faces job demands that often trigger stress, reduced discipline, and imbalance between personal life and work. This research uses a approach with a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 43 respondents. The work–life balance variable is measured through indicators of time balance, involvement, and satisfaction. Job stress is measured through role ambiguity, career development, and work relationships. Work discipline is measured through punctuality, time utilization, compliance with rules, work targets, and work reports. Employee performance is analyzed through indicators of quality, quantity, timeliness, and work effectiveness. Research instruments were tested for validity and reliability, with all items declared valid and Cronbach’s Alpha values above 0.60. Data analysis was conducted using regression, t tests, F tests, and coefficient of determination. The results show that work–life balance has a significant effect on employee performance, job stress has no significant effect, while work discipline has a positive and significant effect. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affect employee performance with a contribution of 48.1 percent, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other factors outside the research model.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the internet has driven significant changes in consumer behavior, requiring traditional markets to adapt to remain relevant and competitive with modern markets and e-commerce. The purpose of this study was to find a traditional market management model based on digital marketing that is suitable for the Rogowongso Pati traditional market. This study used a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to 157 traders at Rogowongso Pati Market. The analysis used PLS-SEM through SmartPLS version 3. The results showed that the use of e-commerce and training and digital literacy had a positive and significant effect on the success of market management, while the use of social media had no significant effect. In addition, government support strengthened the relationship between the use of e-commerce and the success of market management, but weakened the relationship between social media use and did not moderate the relationship between training and digital literacy on the success of market management. These findings confirm that the success of traditional markets in the digital era is more determined by the ability of traders to utilize e-commerce technology and digital literacy than simply using social media. This study recommends that the government focus on improving the digital capacity of traders through ongoing training, strategic assistance in the use of social media, and the provision of secure online infrastructure and payment systems.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of principal supervision and managerial skills on teacher performance at SDN 43 Mandau. The method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques assisted by the SPSS program. The population in this study were 15 teachers at SDN 43 Mandau, sampling was carried out using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 15 teachers, consisting of 10 statement items for the principal supervision variable, 15 statement items for the principal managerial skills variable, and observation sheets for the teacher performance variable. The results showed that principal supervision had a significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.038 0.05. Likewise, the principal's managerial skills showed a significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.013 0.05. Simultaneously, both variables had a significant effect on teacher performance with a significance value of 0.001 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that principal supervision and managerial skills partially and simultaneously have an effect on improving teacher performance. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the better the principal's supervision and managerial skills, the higher the teacher's performance. The implication of this study is the need to strengthen the principal's capacity in the supervisory and managerial aspects as a strategic effort to improve the quality of learning and teacher professionalism in elementary schools.
