Abstract

Background: Infertility affects approximately one in six individuals globally and remains a growing reproductive health concern, often linked to modifiable risk factors present before conception. Preconception care (PCC) has gained recognition as a preventive strategy, however the implementation of PCC at scale remains challenged and yet its research landscape in relation to infertility remains under-mapped.This study aimed to analyze global research trends on preconception care in the context of infertility prevention using bibliometric methods.Subjects and Method: A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database, with data retrieved on May 12, 2024. The search strategy included terms related to PCC and infertility, yielding 486 eligible publications after screening. Included documents were English-language publications in final form, relevant to preconception care and infertility, and classified as articles, reviews, conference papers, or book materials. Analysis was performed using Scopus tools, Biblioshiny (R), and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, key contributors, and thematic evolution. Results: A total of 486 publications from 1991 to 2025 were identified, with an annual growth rate of 6.43%. Most documents were original articles (67.7%) and reviews (28.4%), authored by 2,529 contributors across 307 publication sources. Several national strategies have formalized PCC into broader public health policy to reduce disparities in pregnancy outcomes and unmet fertility needs, but there remains a critical gap in the global PCC research agenda, such as the heterogeneity in intervention protocols. Conclusion: Research on preconception care in the context of infertility prevention has expanded steadily. However, Future research should prioritize longitudinal and interventional studies, foster global collaboration, and align with broader reproductive justice goals to strengthen the evidence base. Ultimately, enhancing the visibility and implementation of PCC in both clinical and public health domains will be pivotal in addressing modifiable infertility risks and promoting equitable reproductive outcomes worldwide.

Abstract

Background: Postpartum Depression (PPD) is a mood disorder experienced by mothers after childbirth that interferes with daily functioning. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has become the non-pharmacological intervention of choice in overcoming PPD. However, there is still a literature gap in systematic reviews regarding the effectiveness of CBT compared to other interventions in relieving PPD symptoms. Method: This study used a scoping review methodology following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A literature search was conducted across PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane databases, resulting in 91,664 articles using the keywords postpartum depression, PPD, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT, Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). Result: Four relevant articles were selected for analysis after the screening and critical appraisal process. The results of the analysis showed that various CBT methods, including digital applications, workshops, group therapy, and online courses, effectively reduced PPD symptoms with a success rate of 29-46%. Factors such as the duration of the intervention, the involvement of health workers, and therapist support contributed to the effectiveness of CBT and its impact on maternal well-being and mother-infant bonding. Conclusion: CBT has been shown to be an effective intervention in reducing PPD symptoms through both face-to-face and technology-assisted formats. Integrating CBT into routine maternal health services is recommended to enhance postpartum mental health outcomes and strengthen early parenting experiences.

Abstract

Background: The exclusive breastfeeding coverage at Polokarto Public Health Center in 2023 was 34.8%. Two out of five mothers had low breastfeeding satisfaction. Approximately two out of five mothers reported low breastfeeding satisfaction. Although breastfeeding is generally perceived as a rewarding and fulfilling experience, many mothers encounter various challenges during the early postpartum period that may adversely affect their satisfaction with breastfeeding. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. Breastfeeding satisfaction was measured using the Maternal Breastfeeding Evaluation Scale questionnaire. A total of 100 respondents were recruited using accidental sampling. Data were analyzed using bivariate analysis and multivariate analysis with binary logistic regression. Results: Bivariate analysis showed that parity, breastfeeding method, and breastfeeding problems were associated with breastfeeding satisfaction. Multivariate analysis showed only breastfeeding method and breastfeeding problems remained significantly associated with breastfeeding satisfaction. Mothers who did not breastfeed directly had lower odds of having high breastfeeding satisfaction compared with those who practiced direct breastfeeding (AOR = 0.015; 95% CI = 0.001–0.212; p = 0.002). Mothers who experienced breastfeeding problems also had lower odds of having high breastfeeding satisfaction compared with those without breastfeeding problems (AOR = 0.199; 95% CI = 0.041–0.971; p = 0.046). Conclusion: Breastfeeding method and breastfeeding problems were the factors most strongly associated with breastfeeding satisfaction among mothers in the working area of Polokarto Public Health Center. Midwifery support in promoting direct breastfeeding, early detection of lactation problems, and management of breastfeeding complaints should be strengthened to improve maternal comfort and positive breastfeeding experiences
