Abstract

Early childhood education is a crucial foundation for developing the character and potential of children as the nation's future generation. During early childhood, children experience a golden age, which is fundamental to the development of all aspects of their personality. One crucial aspect that needs to be developed is learning motivation. However, low learning motivation in early childhood remains a problem that impacts the educational process. Factors such as uninteresting learning, conventional learning methods, and the lack of use of interactive learning media can easily lead to children becoming bored and disinterested in learning. The development of digital technology presents opportunities in education through the use of digital educational games as learning media. Digital educational games provide an interactive learning approach, engage children's attention, and actively engage children in the learning process. The role of teachers as facilitators is crucial in guiding the use of digital educational games to support the development of children's cognitive, social, and emotional skills. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of digital educational games and children's learning motivation. This study used a literature review method, compiling various relevant sources such as journals, books, scientific articles, and previous research on digital educational games and children's learning motivation. The study results show that the use of digital educational games can increase children's motivation to learn through more interactive, fun, and engaging learning. Furthermore, digital educational games can enhance student engagement, cognitive skills, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and teacher-student interaction during the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of block play on the problem-solving abilities of early childhood students at RA Al-Ma'arif, Gorontalo City. Problem-solving ability is a fundamental aspect of cognitive development that should be nurtured from an early age, as it is closely related to logical thinking, creativity, and decision-making skills in everyday life. Block play was selected as the learning medium because it provides concrete, enjoyable, and interactive learning experiences while encouraging children to explore, observe, and develop solutions to various challenges. This research employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 children as research participants. Data were collected through observation and problem-solving ability tests and were analyzed using the t-test to determine the significance of the treatment effect. The findings revealed a significant improvement in children's problem-solving abilities after participating in block play activities. The mean pretest score increased from 55.4 to 82.7 in the posttest. Statistical analysis indicated that the calculated t value of 6.25 exceeded the critical t value of 2.06, demonstrating a statistically significant effect of block play on children's problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, the learning mastery level increased from 35% to 85%. These findings suggest that block play is an effective learning medium for enhancing logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among early childhood learners.

Abstract

Effect of role-playing on the social and communication skills of early childhood. Role-playing activities are rarely implemented in a structured manner in kindergarten, even though they are crucial for brain development, social skills, and language during the golden age. The study used a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. A sample of 40 children aged 4-6 years at Herlina Kindergarten was divided into an experimental group given eight role-play sessions and a control group. Data were collected through Likert-scale pretest-posttest observations. The Mann-Whitney test results showed a significant effect: the experimental group's average score of 7.1105 was higher than the control group's 6.4625. Communication skills increased from very low (50%) to very high (97.5%) after treatment. Indicators that developed included speaking courage, expressing opinions, using new vocabulary, interacting with peers, empathy, and self-confidence. Conclusion: The role-playing method is effective in improving the social and communication skills of early childhood because it facilitates interaction, imagination, and problem-solving in a fun way.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using an educational Snakes and Ladders game on early childhood learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The participants were children aged 5–6 years (Group B) enrolled in an Early Childhood Education (ECE) institution. Data were collected through observation and documentation, while the research instrument consisted of an observation sheet developed based on child development indicators. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and inferential tests, namely the Paired Sample t-Test or Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, depending on the data distribution. The findings indicate that the use of the educational snakes and ladders game has a positive effect on children's learning outcomes. The improvement in learning outcomes was reflected in the differences between pretest and posttest scores, demonstrating that the game-based learning media enhanced children's engagement, motivation, and understanding of learning materials. In addition to supporting cognitive development, the educational snakes and ladders game also contributed to the development of children's social, emotional, and motor skills through play-based learning activities. Therefore, the educational snakes and ladders game can be considered an effective learning medium for improving early childhood learning outcomes.
