Abstract

This research aims to identify and analyze the use of teaching methods and learning media used by chemistry teachers in teaching organic chemistry materials, especially the topic of Hydrocarbons in High School. The research method used is quantitative descriptive research, where to collect data using research instruments in the form of questionnaires distributed using google form to respondents. The respondents were high school chemistry teachers in the Jakarta area who were randomly selected as many as 22 teachers. The results of the analysis show that the teaching method most widely used by teachers on the topic of Hydrocarbons is group discussion which is 20.20% While the learning media most widely used by teachers is molymod media by 23.29% and IT-based learning media by 20.55%. For the utilization of IT / digital media on hydrocarbon material, more use of Ms.Power Point / Prezi / Canva by 34.48% and animated videos by 29.31%. By using learning methods and media used by teachers on the topic of hydrocarbons, it can help students' level of understanding in the range of 60-80 by 64% and more than 80 by 32%.

Abstract

Acute exacerbation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is characterized by increased production and accumulation of mucus which aggravates clinical symptoms. One of interventions well-known effectively overcoming airway clearance problem is active cycle of breathing technique. The aim of implementing evidence-based nursing practice was to determine the effectiveness of the active cycle of breathing technique on sputum production in COPD patients. The search for evidence was carried out by PICO (problem, intervention, comparison, and outcome) analysis. 18 COPD inpatients and outpatients were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and were given the intervention. Sputum production was measured before and after it. The data analysis was carried out using Wilcoxon with a p value of 0.014 which showed that there was a difference in the amount of sputum production before and after the intervention. The researchers concluded that active cycle of breathing technique is an effective intervention in overcoming airway clearance problems in COPD patients.

Abstract

This development research aims to make and evaluate based on the E-module of guided inquiry on acid and alkaline solution material, knowing the similarities and differences effective contributions between critical thinking skills and student scientific attitudes simultaneously and each before and after the use of the E-module. E-module assessments are carried out by material expert lecturers, media experts, six chemical teachers, and students. E-modules are tested using the pretest-posttest two-group design with the sampling technique, namely simple random sampling in class XI IPA students. The research sample consisted of 36 experimental class students and 34 control class students. The instruments used include critical thinking skills and questionnaires of students' scientific attitudes that are declared valid and reliable using the Rasch model test. The results of students' responses were analyzed using Hoteling's T2 test, while the percentage of effective contributions was known to use the partial Eta Squared value obtained. The results showed the E-module was very well used in learning activities, there were differences in the difference between critical thinking skills and student’s scientific attitudes simultaneously and between experimental classes and controls before and after the use of the E-module, and there was an effective contribution of E-module Against critical thinking skills and student scientific attitudes simultaneously by 24%, to critical thinking skills by 17.4%, and to the scientific attitudes of students by 15.3%.

Abstract

This research aims to synthesize the related research with green chemistry as the topic which focuses on chemistry learning research in the recent ten years from various Scopus journals and proceedings focusing on the recent ten years. After doing the searching on the national and international reputable databases by using the relevance key pattern (Pattern 1: “green chemistry” “green chemistry learning”; Pattern 2: “green chemistry” “curricula”; Pattern 3: “green chemistry” “chemistry education), from 20 relevant articles to be systematically reviewed. The systematic goal is to result in the general review and knowledge for teachers about the integration of green chemistry in the learning process. At the middle school level, the integration of green chemistry through project-based practicum activities, textbooks, modules, and games. The result shows that the chemistry topic which can be integrated with green chemistry is by making soap, fossil fuels, recycling processes, environmental problems arising from the use of fuel, chemical reactions, and plastic waste. While 12 green principles in some articles are discussed thoroughly while others don’t. There are only 5 or 6 green chemistry principles integrated either in modules, games, and practicum activities. By doing the research, it is expected to give knowledge to the teachers related to green chemistry integration in the process of learning to support the Merdeka curriculum in chemistry learning.

Abstract

Socio-Scientific Issuesis a learning approach that involves social conflict that is closely related to science that has developed in society so that it requires scientific thinking in the presentation of science. The purpose of this research is to find out how effective the SSI approach in teaching chemistry in the high school environment. The method used search using Scopus to get 18 articles to be reviewed. The information is arranged in the following order: type of research, purpose of using the SSI approach, data collection, chemical materials used and field of use of the SSI approach. It is hoped that this discussion can provide guidance for education using the SSI approach in the classroom learning process. The result obtained from the literature review are that SSI can be used in chemistry learning with any material so that it attract the attention of students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the argument driven inquiry learning model on the simultaneous scientific argumentation skills and higher order thinking skills in students on the topic of acid base. The research uses a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted on 137 students of class XI MIPA at a high school in Palembang. Sampling was done by the simple random sampling technique. The results of the study showed that there was a significant effect of the argument driven inquiry learning model on the scientific argumentation skills and higher order thinking skills of the students on the topic of acid base. There is an effective contribution of the application of the learning model of argument driven inquiry on the topics of acid base to enhance the scientific arguments skills and the higher order thinking skills of students at the same time of 18.90%. In general, the students gave a positive response to the application of the argument driven inquiry learning model to enhance the scientific argumentation skills and higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of a flipped learning approach combined with a guided inquiry model on students' science process skills and chemical literacy in reaction rate material. The quasi-experimental research employed a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design with 71 eleventh-grade high school students as participants. Instruments included a chemical literacy test and a science process skills observation sheet. Data analysis using MANOVA revealed significant differences and effects between the guided inquiry-flipped learning and discovery learning models, with an effective contribution of 29.70%. These findings highlight the positive influence of the guided inquiry and flipped learning approach on enhancing science process skills and chemical literacy.

Abstract

This study aims for developing students' worksheet of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry, and investigating the quality of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry that is appropriate to be implemented in learning. This study is classified to research and development which refers to Borg & Gall development model. This research consists of four steps: which are introduction, planning, developing, and product evaluation. The product evaluation was conducted by peers, material and media experts, and chemistry teachers. The data collection instruments used validation sheet of the products. The results show that the developed products are in the form of students' worksheet of entrepreneurship-oriented small-scale chemical industry, and the result of the assessment by chemistry teachers shows the average assessment is a good category so that this  worksheet is feasible to be used in learning.
