Abstract

This community engagement activity has located a centre for horticultural agriculture, such as fruits and vegetables, in Nagari Padang Laweh, Sungai Pua district and Agam regency, West Sumatra Province. The focus products were tomato and oyster mushrooms at the time. Besides a farmer's land for tomatoes, there is also an oyster mushroom business managed by Hoki Jamur, producing 5-7 kg of fresh mushrooms per day. The problems faced by the partner's activity were a lack of processing technology for horticultural products. Tomatoes often through away when the price is low in the market. The production of oyster mushrooms is still fluctuating because cultivation is not good enough, and oyster has high water content, so it is easy to rot and have a short shelf life. Activities that have been carried out to solve partner problems were first evaluating horticulture and oyster mushroom cultivation activities at partner locations. Then, introducing processed post-harvest of horticulture to increase the selling value and its diversification to increase the shelf life of products by making tomato sauce and oyster mushroom meatballs. This activity went well and smoothly and was attended by local farmers, members of the Family Welfare Movement (PKK), and young entrepreneurs. Participants' enthusiasm for participating in this activity was high, especially during post-harvest product processing technology. This activity is expected to improve the quality and quantity of business production, income and economic welfare of partners and communities involved in partner business activities.

Abstract

The use of 100% palm oil polyol without the addition of a chain extender produced foam which initially expands and then collapses so that the resulting foam has tight pores, dense texture, and brittle (brittle). It was necessary to use a chain extender to improve the flexible properties of the foam. This study aimed to examine the ratio of palm oil polyols with a chain extender to produce flexible polyurethane foam with good characteristics. The treatment of this study was a combination of types and comparisons of palm oil polyols with chain extenders which were carried out 3 times, consisting of factor A = type of chain extender (diethylene glycol (DEG), diethanolamine (DEA), and polyethylene glycol (PEG)-400) and factor B = ratio of palm oil polyols. with a chain extender (80%:20%; 70%:30%; 60%:40%; 50%:50%). The obtained foam was observed visually, foam development, and foam density. The best sample for each type of extender was analyzed by FTIR. The results showed that 40% PEG-400 has succeeded in producing flexible polyurethane foam with higher expansion (291.22%), lower density (29 kg/m3), and visually has the best flexible properties. Based on FTIR analysis, the use of PEG-400 in the polyol system can increase the reactivity of palm oil polyols to isocyanates.

The decline of patchouli production will have an immediate effect on Indonesia export value. Indonesia position as the producer of patchouli oil in the world will weaken. This study aims to illustrate the complexity of patchouli oil agro-industry in Pasaman Barat starting from the raw material supply at the farmer level to the marketing of patchouli oil at the collecting level. The stages of this research were survey and interview to the actors of patchouli oil agro-industry in Pasaman Barat, literature study, design supply chain of patchouli oil agro-industry in Pasaman Barat, determine the factors that influence the production of patchouli at supply chain stages, determine the relationship between factors and making the chain for each stage. Data collection were done through interviews and data that already exist in BPS. Patchouli oil current price is a factor affecting the amount of patchouli stock at the third level of the model. If price increase, stock at each level also increase, otherwise if the price falls then the stock will decrease. Perhaps the price factor is the main trigger of the decline in patchouli productivity in West Pasaman in recent years. Keywords: agro-industry, conceptual model, dynamic system, patchouli oil

Abstract

Human behavior is one of the fields of study that is very interesting to study that has no end. Because humans are actors of all life activities. All lines of life are controlled through human behavior both as individuals and groups. The author uses a systematic literature review method. Articles obtained through the search media Google Scholar, Sciencedirect, Researchgate, Elsevier, and Schimago. The keywords used in the search are behavior, consumer behavior, behavior form, consumer, and producer. This research is to analyze behavioral theory viewed from the perspective of consumer behavior to be applied to producer behavior. The results showed that many social analysts do not believe that instinct is the source of social behavior. For example, William James, a psychologist, believes that although instincts are the things that influence social behavior, the main explanation tends to be habits, namely behavioral patterns that are acquired through repetition throughout a person's life. Here the author presents several behavioral theories based on the results of previous literature studies by considering articles that are still relevant in this literature review, among them Mc Dougall theory, Push Theory, Attribution Theory, Cognitive Theory, Theory "S-O-R", theory of reasoned action, theory of planned behavior, and theory of social capital.

Abstract

The characteristics of indigenous bacterial isolates in cocoa farms differ based on the study's location and methodology. More research is required to comprehend these bacterial isolates' diversity and features completely. This study intends to assess the cellulose-degrading capacity of bacterial isolates from cocoa plantations in Meko Village, Central Sulawesi. The shape of the bacterial colony, the shape of the colony's edge, elevation, colony size, color, and texture are considered during macroscopic morphological identification and microscopic morphological identification after gram stain. Afterward, gram stains the bacteria to determine the type of cell wall. Hydrolysis capacity was then identified macroscopically by observing colony shape, colony periphery, colony color, colony appearance and height, and hydrolysis capacity on media in a petri dish (HC). Upon microscopic examination of cell shape and bacterial wall type (Gram-positive and gram-negative). Based on the research findings and identification of bacteria capable of degrading cellulose in cocoa soil, it can be inferred that among the 28 examined isolates, six isolates have the greatest HC index values in KL62 isolates. In contrast, GL66, KL23, and KL62x isolates have medium HC index values.

Abstract

The Aur Serumpun farmer group is one of the growing farmer groups with their corn farming business. This farmer group is in Simpang Alahan Mati District, Kab. Pasaman, West Sumatra Province. So far, farmers only sell corn that has been dried directly. The processing of corn is a basic need for members of farmer groups in order to have product diversification which can ultimately increase the economy of these farmers. In the community service activities that were carried out previously (in 2019), processed products from corn were introduced, namely tortilla chips. In the 2020-2022 activities, business development will be carried out from Aur Serumpun farmer groups in accordance with the policy directions set by the members of the farmer groups themselves. Therefore, a discussion group forum was held and the signing of a cooperation agreement regarding the study of the prospects for producing tortilla chips which would be carried out by the aur allied farmer groups. The development of food product production of trotilla chips is an independent initiative from farmer groups that can collaborate with academics in the Department of Agricultural Product Technology, Andalas University. It was agreed from the discussion group forum that the head of the farmer group would conduct a study and socialize to other members of the farmer group regarding alternative product diversification of the commonly produced corn commodity. Further evaluation of the prospects for the implementation of the tortilla chips production process will be carried out next year.

Abstract

Beneficial lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are used to produce dadih, contributing to its health benefits. Dadih is fermented with lactic acid bacteria that convert lactose into glucose and galactose, enhancing digestibility. Despite its potential, dadih has limited appeal due to its traditional production methods and restricted market availability. To address this issue, the article suggests employing methodical concept development techniques, such as Mind Mapping, to generate innovative ideas for dadih product development. In addition, bibliometric analysis is used to obtain insight into the research trends and prospects in the field of food technology as they pertain to local fermented dadih products. The findings from the VOSviewer analysis reveal various aspects of dadih research, including mutagenicity, food safety, and fermented dairy products. Using these insights and mind-mapping techniques, this study advances dadih product development knowledge and is a foundation for future research.
