Abstract

Research aimed to know the responses of 12 winged bean accessions to reproductive pruning in rainy season, was conducted in experimental station ofagricultural faculty, Padjadjaran University started from November 2008 until May 2009. Experiment was arranged in randomized block design with split-plot pattern and replicated twice. Main plot was reproductive pruning consisted of two levels namely with (p) and without pruning (np). Whereas, sub plot was 12 winged bean accessions. Variables observed were tuber length (cm), tuber diameter (cm), tuber volume (ml), tuber weight per plant (g), number of tuber per plant, and tuber weight per plot (kg). Data were analysed using analysis of variance, if there was significant source of variance, analysis was continued with Scott Knott Cluster Analysis for genotype simple effect and LSD for pruning simple effect, with 5% level respectively. Results showed that there were different responses of each accession to reproductive pruning, especially on characters of tuber diameter, number of tuber per plant, and tuber weight per plant. Eventhough singly, pruning didn’t show significant effect on all characters observed, for tuber diameter, number of tuber per plant, andtuber weight per plot, effectiveness of pruning was seen on several accessions. Single effect of accessions was seen on tuber volume and tuber weight per plant. For tuber length, pruning, accessions and interaction of both, seemed to have no effect on it. Accessions of 8.20, 8.16, 8.29, 8.10, and 8.6 were potential genotypes for tuber production for they had tuber diameter over 2 cm.

Abstract

Potatoes or Solanum tuberosum L is one type of vegetable that is prioritized for development. The demand for potatoes also continues to increase from year to year. However, the dynamics of procurement of seed potato varieties are in fact only slightly adopted because they do not consider farmers' preferences and perceptions. This study aims to measure farmers' preferences for industrial seed potatoes in Garut Regency. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive approach involving 100 respondents using conjoint analysis. The research locations were in two sub-districts in Garut Regency. The results of the study show that farmers' preferences for industrial potato seeds in Garut Regency lead to the subattribute of seeds free of plant disrupting organisms. Thus, these subattributes have the greatest influence on farmers' preferences in choosing industrial potato seeds. The need for assistance and empowerment of farmers from related parties in order to ensure the availability and affordability of certified superior potato seeds on the market.

Abstract

Satisfaction is a product that is preferred to fulfill its desires. Potatoes are horticultural crops that have high carbohydrate content, adaptive business segments, clear markets, non-perishability, longer shelf life, and high economic value. Farmer satisfaction in assessing various attributes of seed potatoes is assessed from the fulfillment of expectations or expectations that are met, good performance, and perceived benefits. The purpose of this study is to measure farmers' satisfaction with industrial seed potatoes in Garut Regency. This study used a quantitative method with a descriptive analysis approach involving 100 respondents using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) analysis tools. The research was conducted in two districts in Garut Regency. The results of the study show that the level of satisfaction of potato farmers is at a satisfied level, where the attributes of industrial potato seeds included in Quadrant I are pest-free potato seeds and ease of obtaining them, seed morphology that has resistance to pests, seed production calculated from productivity and the number of tubers, market convenience, tuber selling prices, and services in assisting the production process. While the attributes of industrial potato seeds included in Quadrant II are price and quality assurance of distributed seeds. Then, located in Quadrant III are the purchase price of seeds and the timeliness of delivery. The need for both farmers and the government to intensify the use of certified superior potato seeds in order to produce potato production and productivity in accordance with market demand.

Abstract

Mekarasih Village is a village located in the Jatigede sub-district of Sumedang Regency. In Mekarasih Village there is a millennials generation that can be developed to increase the potential in Mekarasih Village. Mekarasih Village has a superior commodity of Roid banana, and local products that have the potential to be developed, namely Denana Chips banana chips and Roid J chips. However, the products produced are still relatively simple in terms of packaging and do not have an adequate marketing strategy. Therefore, to improve the quality of local product potential, product development is needed to increase sales of banana chips owned by Mekarasih Village, so that it can have an impact on improving the village economy. The activities that will be carried out in this Village Project program are Identification of superior banana seed sources as basic raw materials for planting, Structuring and grouping of millennials young generations, Identifying the front land of high school from pest and disease attacks, Structuring Product Management, Marketing, publication, and Promotion of Binaraja Millennialss. Through a series of village project activities, young millennialss are increasingly broadening their horizons and are expected to help unleash their potential in agriculture, and local products.

Abstract

Information of phenotypic performance, genetic variability and heritability estimation are very important to improve the yield of red pepper. The aims of this research was to obtain the information on the phenotypic performance, variability and heritability of 32 high yielding genotypes of red pepper. The experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design in which 32 genotypes of red pepper were used as a treatment. The results showed that the genotypes of BPH 0604, KRT 2, RMCK I, RMCK II, and UPKRT I 99 performed better than others in the fruit characters such as number of fruits per plant, number of fruit per plot, weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per plot. The genetic and phenotypic variability were considerably wide for characters such as plant height, flowering time, stem diameter, leaf width, length of peduncle, petiole length, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant, number of fruit per plot, and weight per fruit. Heritability estimation of plant height, flowering time, stem diameter, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant, number of fruit per plot, weight per fruit, fruit weight per plant and fruit weight per plot were high.Keyword: Capsicum annuum, genetic material, high yielding variety, plant breeding
