Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the thinking process of field dependent students in solving geometric problems based on the Polya stage. The type of research used was descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted at SMA 1 Pasuruan using 2 subjects in the cognitive style FD taken from 38 students. The instruments used were in the form of cognitive style exams, solving geometrical problems and interview guidelines. The results of the study show that in processing information, the subject of FD does not understand the problem as a whole so that in planning the completion of the subject FD forgets about the concept of the cube. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan proses berpikir siswa field dependent dalam menyelesaikan masalah geometri berdasarkan tahapan Polya. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 1 Pasuruan dengan menggunakan dua subjek bergaya kognitif FD yang diambil dari 38 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa eksamen gaya kognitif, penyelesaian masalah geometri dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa dalam memproses informasi, subjek FD tidak memahami masalah secara utuh sehingga dalam merencanakan penyelesaian subjek FD lupa tentang konsep kubus.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the algebraic reasoning of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems in terms of Adversity Quetients. The study was conducted in Tarus Self-help Junior High School. The stages of students’ algebraic reasoning in solving problems were generalisation activities, transformation activities, and global metal-level activities. The instruments used in this study were ARP instruments (Adversity Response Profile), algebraic reasoning tests, and interview guidelines. The results of this study showed that the Climber students did algebraic reasoning on generalisation activities, transformation activities, and global metal-level activity. The Camper students only did algebraic reasoning on general activities. While Quitter students did not do algebraic reasoning on all activities.Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan penalaran aljabaris siswa SMP dalam memecahkan masalah matematika ditinjau dari Adversity Quotient. Penelitian dilakukan di SMP Swadaya Tarus Kupang. Tahap penalaran aljabaris siswa dalam memecahkan masalah yaitu, yaitu aktivitas generalisasi, aktivitas transformasi, dan aktivitas level-meta global. Intrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen ARP (Adversity Response Profile), tes penalaran aljabaris, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa Climber melakukan penalaran aljabaris pada aktivitas generalisasi, aktivitas transformasi dan aktivitas level-meta global. Siswa Camper hanya melakukan penalaran aljabaris pada aktivitas generalisasi saja, sedangkan siswa Quitter tidak melakukan penalaran aljabaris pada semua aktivitas.

Abstract

This study describes the creative thinking in RME learning material of algebra. The research was conducted in VIIIH grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Jepara. This study used a qualitative approach and data were analyzed by descriptive-explorative. The result showed that the aspects of students' creative thinking include: fluency, flexibility and novelty in solving problems related to equation linear systems of two variables. Fluency aspect is characterized by the students were able to express ideas and mathematical ideas fluently and correctly in solving problem. Flexibility aspect is characterized by the students are able to use various means and strategies that vary properly in solving problem. Novelty aspect is characterized by the students were able to use a new way, or different from the others in solving problem.Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tentang berpikir kreatif dalam pembelajaran RME materi aljabar. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIIIH SMP Negeri 1 Jepara. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan data hasil penelitian dianalisis secara diskriptif-ekploratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berpikir kreatif siswa meliputi aspek: fluency, flexibility dan novelty dalam menyelesaikan masalah terkait sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. Aspek fluency ditandai dengan siswa mampu mengemukakan gagasan dan ide matematis secara lancar dan benar dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Aspek flexibility ditandai dengan siswa mampu menggunakan berbagai cara dan strategi yang berbeda-beda secara benar dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Aspek novelty ditandai dengan siswa mampu menggunakan dengan cara baru, atau berbeda dari yang lain dalam menyelesaikan masalah.

Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe students' reasoning in solving non-routine problems. This study uses descriptive exploratory research with a qualitative approach. This research was conducted on 33 MIPA SMA Laboratory UM students. A subject is taken based on student answers that are complete, correct, from the teacher's recommendations and the results of the analysis that meet five reasoning indicators, namely analysis, synthesis, generalization, justification and resolution of non-routine problems. The results of this study state that the more dominant subject performs the analysis by explaining information, doing the right calculation; then do the synthesis by combining information; generalize by identifying forms; justify by giving reasons as well; solve non-routine problems. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal non-routine. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif eksploratif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 33 siswa MIPA SMA Laboratorium UM. Seorang subjek diambil berdasarkan jawaban siswa yang tuntas, benar, dari rekomendasi guru serta hasil analisis yang memenuhi lima indikator penalaran, yaitu analisis, sintesis, generalisasi, justifikasi, dan penyelesaian masalah non-routine. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa subjek lebih dominan melakukan analisis dengan menjelaskan informasi, melakukan perhitungan yang benar; kemudian melakukan sintesis dengan menggabungkan informasi; melakukan generalisasi dengan mengidentifikasi bentuk; melakukan justifikasi dengan memberikan alasan; menyelesaikan soal non-routine.

Abstract

Abstract: The reasoning abilities of Vocational students are still low. This qualitative study describes student’s mathematical reasoning in solving problems based on Polya's steps. The subjects were three students, high (ST), medium (SS), and low (SR). Research was conducted by analyzing the work results subjects and interviews. Research shows that Understanding problems, subjects analysed problem:ST, SS, SR revealed problem information; ST was relevant in representing triangles, SS, SR; ST identified tangen, SS, SR sine rule. Planning, subjects connected the trigonometric comparison. Implementing plans, subjects applied strategies:ST used procedure by setting the solution step and the correct calculation, SS, SR incorrect; ST, SS reviewed strategies by checking the calculation/formulas, SR not. Looking back, subjects reflected the solution:ST, SS did not write the conclusion and considered the fairness of the solution, SR not.Abstrak: Kemampuan penalaran siswa SMK masih rendah. Penelitian kualitatif ini mendeskripsikan penalaran matematis siswa dalam memecahkan masalah, berdasarkan langkah Polya.Subjek penelitian tiga siswa yaitu berkemampuan tinggi (ST), sedang (SS), dan rendah (SR). Penelitian dilakukan dengan menganalisis hasil pekerjaan siswa dan wawancara. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa saat memahami masalah, ketiga subjek menganalisis masalah ST, SS, SR mengungkapkan informasi masalah; ST relevan dalam merepresentasikan segitiga, SS, SR tidak; ST mengidentifikasi konsep trigonometri tangen, SS, SR aturan sinus. Ketika merencanakan,ketiga subjek mengoneksikan perbandingan trigonometri.Ketika melaksanakan rencana, ketiga subjek menerapkan strategi: ST menggunakan prosedur dengan mengatur langkah solusi terarah dan perhitungan tepat, SS, SR tidak tepat; ST, SS meninjau strategi dengan mengecek perhitungan/rumus,SR tidak.Ketika memeriksa kembali, ketiga subjek merefleksikan solusi: ST, SS tidak menuliskan kesimpulan; ST, SS mempertimbangkan kewajaran solusi, SR tidak.

Abstract

Misconception is one of the common problem in understanding the concepts of mathematics and answering questions test of mathematics. Misconseption must be minimalized because the conceptual knowledge is one aspects knowledge within the competency of students of junior high school. Each students has different thinking process in answering questions test of mathematics. There are three stages of thinking process stated by mason whereas entry phase, attack, and review. Thus, this study was aimed to describe misconception in answering algebra question of eightth grade student based on masons' thinking process. The subjects of this research were two students of grade eight chosen based on the result of test of understanding concept completed by CRI. The result of this study shown that based on the thinking process stated by mason, students experinced misconception only at phase attack when equalling the denominator, algebra manipulation and operational of equal tribe.Kesalahan konsep (Miskonsepsi) adalah salah satu jenis kesalahan dalam memahami konsep-konsep matematika dan dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Miskonsepsi harus diminimalisir karena pengetahuan konseptual adalah salah satu aspek pengetahuan yang ada dalam kompetensi siswa tingkat SMP/MTs/SMPLB dan sederajat. Setiap siswa memiliki proses berpikir yang berbeda-beda dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika. Ada 3 fase proses berpikir yang dikemukakan oleh Mason, yaitu fase entry, fase attack, dan fase review. Oleh karena itu, tulisan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan miskonsepsi pada penyelesaian soal aljabar siswa kelas VIII berdasarkan proses berpikir Mason. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 2 siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih berdasarkan hasil tes pemahaman konsep yang dilengkapi dengan CRI. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 3 tahap proses berpikir mason, siswa mengalami miskonsepsi hanya pada tahap attack, yaitu pada saat menyamakan penyebut, manipulasi aljabar, dan mengoperasikan suku sejenis.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aimed to describe the ability of multilateral FD students to solve the problem of Pythagoras and its scaffolding. The data collection begins with GEFT and test 1. The subject's examination process is analyzed based on the SOLO taxonomy to see its level of ability. The results showed that the ability of multistructural level FD subjects could use some of the information provided for problem solving, but the answer given was not accurate. Scaffolding efforts to increase the level of FD students' ability from multistructural level to relational level consist of reviewing, restructuring, and developing contextual thinking. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa FD level multistructural dalam menyelesaikan soal Pythagoras dan pemberian scaffolding. Pengumpulan data diawali dengan pemberian GEFT dan soal tes 1. Proses penyelesaian yang dilakukan subjek dianalisis berdasarkan taksonomi SOLO untuk melihat level kemampuannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan subjek FD level multistructural dapat menggunakan beberapa informasi yang diberikan untuk menyelesaikan soal, namun jawaban yang diberikan kurang tepat. Upaya pemberian scaffolding untuk meningkatkan level kemampuan siswa FD dari level multistructural ke level relational terdiri dari reviewing, restructuring, dan developing contextual thinking.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the creative reasoning of junior high school students in solving the SPLDV problem. The description is based on four indicators. There are novelty, flexibility, plausibility, and mathematical foundation. This research is an explorative research with qualitative approach. This research was conducted on the students of class VIII-C SMP 13 Malang. Subsequently two research subjects were selected that satisfy all the indicators of creative reasoning and also considered the advice of the mathematics teacher. The results of the research that the subjects of S1 and S2 study using creative reasoning in solving the SPLDV problem, S1 and S2 satisfy all the creative reasoning indicators. There are (1) Novelty, S1 and S2 provide a unique strategy different from the standard strategy has been studied (elimination and substitution), which sum two known equations, to obtain an answer. (2) Flexibility, S1 and S2 completed SPLDV with different strategies. S1 and S2 using the method of elimination, mixed methods (elimination and substitution), as well as a unique method that is by summing two known linear equations. (3) Plausibility, S1 and S2 can provide arguments well. namely to provide a logical reason at each stage of completion. But at number 2, S2 uses intuitive intention, the idea that emerges as a guess and test strategy in making decisions based on feeling and intrinsic that produce spontaneous answers. (4) Mathematical foundation, S1 and S2 use the properties of algebraic operations well in completing the given SPLDV. There are operation of addition, subtraction and simplification.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penalaran kreatif  siswa SMP dalam menyelesaikan masalah sistem persamaan linier dua variabel (SPLDV). Pendeskripsian tersebut menggunakan empat indikator, yaitu kebaruan (novelty), fleksibilitas (flexibility), hal yang masuk akal (plausibility) dan dasar matematis (mathematical foundation). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksploratif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIII-C SMP 13 Malang. Selanjutnya, dipilih dua subjek penelitian yang memenuhi semua indikator penalaran kreatif dan juga mempertimbangkan saran dari guru matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan subjek penelitian S1 dan S2 memenuhi semua indikator penalaran kreatif, yaitu (1) Kebaruan (novelty), S1 dan S2 memberikan strategi penyelesaian unik (baru) yang berbeda dengan strategi penyelesaian standart yang telah dipelajari. S1 dan S2 menggunakan strategi menjumlahkan 2 persamaan yang diketahui. (2) Fleksibilitas (flexibility), S1 dan S2 dapat menyelesaikan SPLDV dengan tiga strategi. S1 dan S2 menggunakan metode eliminasi, metode campuran (eliminasi dan subtitusi), serta metode yang unik (baru) (3) Hal yang masuk akal (plausibility), S1 dan S2 memberikan argumen dengan baik. S1 dan S2 dapat memberikan alasan logis pada setiap tahap  penyelesain. Namun, pada nomor 2, S2 menggunakan intuitif intensi yaitu ide yang muncul sebagai strategi guess and test dalam membuat keputusan berdasarkan feeling dan intrinsik yang menghasilkan jawaban spontan. (4) Dasar Matematis (mathematical foundation), S1 dan S2 menggunakan sifat-sifat operasi aljabar dengan baik dalam menyelesaikan SPLDV yang diberikan, yaitu operasi penjumlahan, pengurangan, dan penyederhanaan.

Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to delevop a proportion textbook characterized Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) which the criteria are valid, practical, and effective. The textbook is developed by plomp model which has three stages; preliminary research, prototyping, assessment. Validation result shows the textbook satisfying valid criteria (81,25). Based on result of development study in MTs Almaarif 01 Singosari, the texbook satisfies practical criteria. All of activites both teacher and student succeed (100), even though there are some weaknesses and student’ questionnaire show students response indicating are very positive (98,33) toward the textbook. The textbook  satisfies effective criteria, although 62% had reached KKM, 35% students got score    84 in comprehensive textbook test. Teacher is recommended to take attention on every activities in order to make all of student get engaged actively in learning.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar materi perbandingan bercirikan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dengan kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif. Bahan ajar ini dikembangkan dengan model Plomp yang memiliki tiga tahap pengembangan yaitu tahap pendahuluan, prototipe dan asesmen. Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahan ajar yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid (81,25). Berdasarkan hasil uji coba lapangan di MTs Almaarif 01 Singosasi, bahan ajar memenuhi kriteria praktis. Semua kegiatan guru dan siswa terlaksana (100), walaupun masih ada kekurangan dan hasil angket respon siswa menunjukkan respon siswa sangat positif (98,33) terhadap bahan ajar. Bahan ajar memenuhi kriteria efektif, walaupun 62% siswa mencapai nilai KKM namun 35% siswa memperoleh nilai  84 pada tes penguasaan bahan ajar. Guru disarankan untuk memerhatikan setiap kegiatan agar semua siswa terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to describe the reflective students' critical thinking process in solving the problem of two-variable linear equation system. Instruments used to know the critical thinking process of the subject is a problem-solving test and interview. Through tests and interviews, we can analyze the critical thinking process of the subject based on six criteria focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, and overview. The results showed that both subjects only met the criteria of focus, and experienced errors in making mathematical models, so that both are not able to solve the problem.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir kritis siswa reflektif dalam menyelesaikan masalah sistem persamaan linier dua variabel. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui proses berpikir kritis subjek adalah tes pemecahan masalah dan wawancara. Melalui tes dan wawancara, dapat dianalisis proses berpikir kritis subjek berdasarkan enam kriteria, yaitu focus, reason, inference, situation, clarity, dan overview. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kedua subjek hanya memenuhi kriteria focus, serta mengalami kesalahan dalam membuat model matematika sehingga keduanya tidak mampu menyelesaikan masalah.
