Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is the leading cause of death from infectious diseases in the world and Indonesia is the second largest contributor to TB cases after India. Treatment adherence problems are a major obstacle to TB elimination. The purpose of this Literature Review is to determine the factors that affect treatment adherence among TB patients in Indonesia. Methods: Literature obtained from Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar; published from 2018 – 2023, research from reputable international journals and from national journals at least with SINTA 3, located in Indonesia. Indonesian and English with full text of all types of research designs. Article selection was carried out using the method "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. Results: A total of 225 articels were deemed appropriate for the topic, but only 15 articles were included based on inclusion criteria. It was found that there are several factors that affect treatment adherence in tuberculosis patients in Indonesia, namely: predisposing factors as many as 11 articles (age, education, occupation, knowledge, self-efficacy, concordance, health behavior, motivation, marital status, income level, drug side effects, already feeling cured, and duration of treatment). Reinforcing factors as many as 2 articles (family support). Enabling factors as many as 5 articles (the role of officers, reminder SMS messages from officers, health counseling, and distance of residence to health services). Conclusion: The most dominant factor affecting treatment adherence among tuberculosis patients in Indonesia is the Predesposising factors, namely education and sefl-efficacy.

Abstract

Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (URTIs) are diseases that affect the upper respiratory tract, causing death and decreased quality of life for children under five. The incidence of ARI is about 3-5 times / child / year. The incidence of ARI in Indonesia is still relatively high and has increased in 2015 by 63.45% and in 2017 Tangerang district obtained 48.56%. The cause is the lack of maternal knowledge about ARI, the attitude of parents who take it lightly because it is considered harmless, and the absence of ARI prevention measures in toddlers. Research Objective: To analyze the description of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of mothers towards ARI prevention in toddlers in Binong village. Research Methods: quantitative, with a cross sectional design. The sample size was 50 respondents who had toddlers with Accidental Sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire in the form of google form. Data analysis using univariate analysis. Results: The study showed 74% lack of knowledge, 100% positive attitude, and 84% good action towards ARI prevention in toddlers owned by mothers aged 26-45 years and high school-Higher Education. Recommendation: For future researchers, it is advisable to look for factors that influence the incidence of ARI in toddlers.

Abstract

Background: Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) significantly affects the respiratory tract, contributing to high mortality rates and a decline in quality of life for children under five, with an incidence of 3-5 episodes per child annually. In Indonesia, ARI remains prevalent, with cases increasing in 2015 (63.45%) and reaching 48.56% in Tangerang Regency by 2017. Knowledge Gap: Despite these figures, there is limited research on maternal knowledge, attitudes, and practices concerning ARI prevention. Aims: This study aims to analyze maternal knowledge, attitudes, and actions in Binong Village regarding ARI prevention among toddlers. Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative design was employed, with 50 mothers of toddlers completing a Google Forms questionnaire. Accidental sampling was used, and univariate analysis was applied to assess frequency and percentage distributions of the variables. Results: The findings revealed that 74% of mothers exhibited poor knowledge, while 100% had positive attitudes and 84% engaged in good practices toward ARI prevention. Novelty: This study highlights the discrepancy between maternal knowledge and attitudes/practices, showing that even with poor understanding, mothers maintain positive attitudes and preventive actions. Implications: The results underscore the need for improved educational interventions targeting maternal knowledge on ARI, as current positive attitudes and practices could be enhanced with better information. Future research should explore factors influencing ARI incidence in infants to develop more comprehensive prevention strategies. Ethical approval for the study was granted (085 / KEP-FON / III-2020).acute respiratory infection,

Abstract

Obesity is a developing global public health issue. Obesity is a significant risk factor for a variety of diseases, increasing morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease and Diabetes Mellitus. Since 1975, global obesity has nearly tripled, and Jakarta has the second-highest obesity rate in Indonesia. COVID-19 also contributed to this situation, as many young adults work from home. COVID-19 has an impact, such as an increase in the frequency of unhealthy eating and frequency of sitting, a decrease in physical activity, or irregular exercise, which can lead to obesity. This study aims to investigate the lifestyle risk factors associated with obesity in young adults in Jakarta. A cross-sectional design was conducted with convenience sampling of 384 respondents aged 26-35. Data was collected using an online questionnaire. Descriptive and statistical analysis was performed using chi-square. The finding revealed a significant relationship between physical activity, sedentary lifestyle, and genetics with obesity in young adults (p-value 0.004; 0.035; 0.001). Conclusion: Young adults can adopt a healthy lifestyle by increasing regular physical activity for at least 30 minutes daily and changing their sedentary lifestyle.

Abstract

Self-concept and social interaction are important factors in the development of nursing students' professional skills. A positive self-concept can enhance students’ ability to engage in effective social interactions, which plays a vital role in building strong interpersonal relationships within academic and clinical practice environments. This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-concept and social interaction among nursing students at a private university in Tangerang. This study employed a quantitative correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of,302 nursing students from a private university in Western Indonesia were selected using a quota sampling technique. The instruments included the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale (TSCS) and the Social Interaction Psychology Scale, both of which were utilized in their validated Indonesian-language versions. Data analysis using Spearman’s rank correlation was conducted to examine the relationship between self-concept and social interaction. The findings showed that most students had a moderate level of self-concept (64.9%) and social interaction (73.2%). Spearman’s rank correlation analysis revealed a significant positive correlation of moderate strength between self-concept and social interaction among nursing students. This suggests that students with a better self-concept tend to demonstrate more effective social interaction. Therefore, educational institutions are encouraged to develop programs aimed at enhancing both self-concept and social interaction to support students’ academic performance and professional development.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) poses a significant public health in Indonesia. Despite government efforts to control disease vectors, the rising population density and mobility in Tangerang Regency have contributed to the rapid spread of DHF. This highlights the urgent need to eradicate mosquito nests for outbreak management and prevention. This study aims to identify risk factors associated with mosquito nest eradication in the Tangerang Regency. A cross-sectional design was used, with 400 participants selected through convenience sampling. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. The results of the multivariate analysis revealed age (p-value = 0.012), knowledge (p-value = 0.001), and support from healthcare workers (p-value = 0.003) as variables linked to mosquito nests eradication. Knowledge was the most dominant variable (OR = 5.857); individuals with low knowledge levels were 5.8 times less likely to engage in mosquito nest eradication compared to those with high knowledge after being controlled for age and support from health workers. These findings underscore the urgency of addressing these risk factors. Nurses can play a key role by providing health education to the community, emphasizing the importance of regularly draining and cleaning water containers, covering water storage, and reusing or recycling waste to reduce mosquito breeding sites.
