Abstract

Introduction: The problem of malnutrition and stunting is a trending global health problem that has a major impact on children's physical growth and cognitive development. The condition of the mother's mental and psychological well-being is an important substance that influences the mother's care in caring for stunted malnourished children. The mother's mental and psychological condition is related to the mother's self-acceptance. The mother's psychological dynamics are shown in the form of emotions such as anger, feeling offended, feeling embarrassed, and triggering stress because the mother is full of negative thoughts. The findings from this literature review explain the existence of unpleasant experiences while mothers care for their children. This unpleasant experience generally takes the form of words from health workers and questions from other people regarding their child's condition. Psychological and behavioral changes in mothers arise as a result of public stigma about stunted children which is seen as an indication of a lack of parental care, such as providing poor food which can risk lowering self-esteem and prevent mothers from accessing health services. Objective: This study aims to investigate in depth about the extent of the impact of self-stigma about having children with malnutrition or stunting on the psychological conditions that occur in mothers who have children with malnutrition or stunting. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature review method based on the PRISMA guide. Result: Based on several previous studies, negative community stigma regarding malnourished and stunted children has a significant impact on the psychological state of mothers. This is motivated by an unpleasant experience. There are several themes in the articles that have been reviewed. It was found that self-stigma is recognized by the perception of guilt, the concept of stigma is identified as the shame of having a child with nutritional deficiencies-stunting because they often get questions from others regarding their child's condition. The second theme is about the various psychological changes experienced by mothers. The third theme of self-stigma experienced by mothers significantly affect their behavior, often resulting in reluctance to seek health services for their children. Conclusion: The study cloncludes that self-stigma has a detrimental effect on the psychological conditions of mothers, leading to reduce health-seeking behavior and exacerbating the health issues of malnourished and stunted children. The findings underscore the need for interventions that address stigma, provide emotional support, and promote positive community attitudes towards malnutrition and stunting. It is necessary for health workers and cadres to convey information about stunting by conveying it in a kind and non-accusatory manner, and maintaining confidentiality about the child's condition by not being conveyed in public openly. In addition, to support mothers emotionally, it is necessary for health workers to develop education related to psychoeducation, counseling, promotion, emotional support, and home visits for mothers who are indicated to be absent from health services.

Abstract

The number of people with disorders is gradually increasing from one year to the next. In Indonesia, the estimated number of people with mental illness is around 450,000 with a severe mental illness where 31.5% of people with mental illness are shackled by their families and 15% do not seek any medical treatment. Patients with mental disorders are in a state of mindset and emotions that are unstable, so the role of the family is needed to help people with self-care activities. According to Andersen, there are three factors that impact health service utilization. Factors that influence include predisposing factors, enabling factors, and need factors. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that are associated with re-visiting outpatients at Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang Mental Hospital. The research method is quantitative research with a cross-sectional study approach. The research sample was the family who accompanied the patient to make an outpatient re-visit with a total of 400 respondents. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The data analysis used in this study was the Chi-Square test. The results indicated that there was a significant relationship between knowledge (p-value: 0.006), attitude (p-value: 0.000), income (p-value: 0.032), family support (p-value: 0.00), and information support (p-value: 0.003) with the re-visit of outpatients at Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang Mental Hospital. Predisposing factors and enabling factors are both associated with re-visiting outpatients at Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang Mental Hospital. Future researchers are hoped to study other aspects such as hospital health service system components and need factors that may be associated to recurrent visits of mental illness patients by utilizing a more comprehensive questionnaire to acquire better information.

Abstract

Anemia is a major public health issue globally, particularly among adolescent girls, with significant impacts on cognitive and psychomotor development. Despite the importance of prevention, anemia remains widespread, especially in developing countries. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of various educational media in preventing anemia among adolescent girls. A scoping review was conducted following the Arksey and O'Malley framework, with articles identified from three major databases: ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scopus. Out of 2,560 articles, seven studies met the inclusion criteria, focusing on media formats such as animated educational videos, PAKEM (Active, Creative, Effective, and Fun Learning) model, and print materials like booklets and pocketbooks. The findings reveal that interactive digital media, especially animated educational videos, were highly effective in improving adolescents' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding anemia prevention. These media, with engaging features like dynamic visuals and interactive elements, captured the attention of adolescent girls, facilitating better understanding, and behavior change. The PAKEM model also showed positive results, particularly in increasing adherence to iron supplementation. In contrast, traditional print media, while useful as supplementary tools, were less effective in engaging adolescents compared to digital media. A combined approach using both digital and print media, along with participatory methods such as peer education, was identified as the most effective strategy. These results emphasize the importance of utilizing diverse educational media to enhance anemia prevention efforts and provide valuable insights for developing comprehensive, effective health intervention strategies.

Abstract

Background: The work environment of construction service companies in Indonesia is still not implementing Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS). The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of health promotion on PHBS in construction workers. Methods: This study used quasi-experimental with Pretest-Posttest Only Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 1 control group and 2 intervention groups, each with 63 samples taken using purposive sampling. The intervention was in the form of health promotion on PHBS with safety talk and peer as change agent methods for 21 days. Data analysis used Kolmogorov-Smirnov test for univariate analysis, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and Mann Whitney for bivariate analysis, and Manova test for multivariate analysis. Results: The results of the t-test showed a significant difference between PHBS with the health promotion model approach before the intervention between the safety talk and peer as change agent groups and the control group with a p value <0.05. The effectiveness test showed a difference in effectiveness between the safety talk method and peer as change agent on workers' PHBS with a health promotion model approach (P < 0.05).Conclusion: The safety talk method is more effective in improving perceptions of benefits, barriers, self-ability, attitudes towards PHBS activities, interpersonal influences, situations, and commitment to PHBS action plans compared to the peer as change agent method. However, the peer as change agent method is more effective in improving worker behavior compared to the safety talk method.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious nutritional problem faced by almost all developing countries, including Indonesia. Exclusive breastfeeding is one of the factors that influence the incidence of stunting. Infants who do not receive exclusive breastfeeding are more likely to experience stunting, which will cause children to become easily ill, and it is feared that later it will cause impaired productivity after adulthood. This article review aims to understand more about the relationship between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting. The search for scientific articles was conducted through electronic databases such as Science Direct, Scopus and PubMed and 4 articles published in the last 5 years (2018-2013) were selected. The study results from the 4 articles on average informed that exclusive breastfeeding is associated with stunting. In the reviewed articles, mothers who received nutrition counseling may be effective in reducing childhood stunting accompanied by improved feeding practices. To overcome this nutritional problem, the Indonesian government created a program called Keluarga Sadar Gizi (Kadarzi) and Puskesmas is one of the institutions that plays an important role in accelerating efforts to reduce stunting. This study concluded that there is an association between exclusive breastfeeding and stunting
