Abstract

In times of crisis, a decline in company performance can potentially be the cause of bankruptcy. The study of financial distress and turnaround has a close relationship, because the successful turnaround is determined from efforts to overcome the company's problems with financial distress. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that significantly influence the transition of financial performance and also to formulate managerial implications related to the success of turnaround in mining and agriculture sub-sector companies. The logistic regression method (logit) is used to discriminate samples of companies with the distressed category and also the turnaround category. The results of the study show that the transition of the company's financial performance is influenced by the variables of company size, level of distress and industry type. Alternative strategies that have been formulated consist of efficiency and entrepreneurial oriented strategies. Based on studies that have been conducted, the agricultural sector has a better probability of transition than the mining sector.JEL Classification: C01, C58, G01, G33DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/jkdp.v23i3.2755

Abstract

The Green Revolutions failure caused many farmer groups to cease their activities, even though they had to fulfill many needs. This situation created a need to develop a model for group survival. With those afore mentioned background, this research was conducted. Data was collected in September and October 2005 involving rice, soybean, corn and vegetables farmer groups in the east, central and west Java. The research findings pointed out that there was a relationship between the group survival and their adaptation, goal attainment, integration and latency functions. The group survival rates were higher in central and east Java than in west Java. Additionally, the vegetable and rice farmer group survival rates were higher than the soybean and corn farmer groups. The adaptation, the goal attainment and the integration functions were more strategic for farmer groups in the west and east Java and also for vegetable farmer groups such as soybean and corn group wereas the strategic function were adaptation and integration.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to evaluate the impacts of relevant policy alternatives and international pressure for Indonesian pulp and paper industries on the domestic economy. Ten policy alternatives set for period 1993-2003 are simulated with a simultaneous econometric model. The two-stage least squares method was used to estimate the parameters of the behavioral equations in the model.  Using income distribution and welfare criterias, the results indicate that the objective of decreasing pulp price will  improve the welfare of Indonesian society. It is essential that the policies would avoid a monopsony of  pulpmills for the timber-estate and a monopoly for the papermills.  Not significantly, the distribution of replanting fund  will improve in a little of the domestic economy.  Since the distribution of the fund be stopped, then producers' surplus will decline and the highest income distribution will be received by small-log producers, and the income transfer effects result a net welfare gain to Indonesian society. Stock dictation will be the domestic economy worse-off, but that would not be a case in the export embargo. Indonesia will loss in foreign exchange receipts because of the decreasing interest rate and international pressures. The domestic economy will decline due to this policies and pressure, so the net transfer effects are a welfare loss to Indonesian society as a whole

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to (1) analyze profit and BEP of plasma farmers (2) analyze internal and external strategic factors that influence development of broiler partnership in PT. XYZ, (3) formulate the alternative strategies of broiler partnership in PT. XYZ, (4) formulate selected priority strategy to develop broiler partnership in PT. XYZ. This research uses descriptive method based on case study on broiler partnership in PT. XYZ. Based on BEP analysis, BEP (production) of plasma farmers is in the range 79,91%-86,58% from chick-in capacity, and BEP (price) is in the range of Rp 11.684 – Rp 12.191 per chicken on market price. PT. XYZ partnership’s position in IE matric was second quadrant (grow and builds). The results of SWOT analysis are: a) vertical integration strategy through feedmill, breeding and chicken slaughterhouse, b) improving production capacity through capacity building of plasma farmers, c) improvement in bio-security aspects of maintenance, and d) improving the quality of technical staff and improving supervision. The priority strategy from QSPM analysis is improving production capacity through capacity building of plasma farmers. The strategy to improve production capacity can be done by maximize or add their capacity, and add the new plasma farmers.   Keywords: Broiler Partnership, Internal Environment, External Environment, Internal-external, Improvement Priority
