Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang melakukan ekspor lobster ke negara Hongkong, Vietnam, China, dan Singapura, dengan nilai ekspor lobster Indonesia mengalami rata-rata pertumbuhan 3,54% pertahun. Produksi lobster tersebut masih mengandalkan hasil tangkapan, karena budidaya lobster belum banyak dilakukan di Indonesia. Pantai Barat Provinsi Lampung dikenal sebagai daerah tangkapan lobster yang dimanfaatkan oleh nelayan setempat sebagai sumber pendapatan utama. Untuk mengetahui potensi ekonomi dari budidaya lobster, maka dilakukan penelitian dengan tujuan menganalisis ketersediaan benih bening lobster (BBL) dan rantai pasok lobster sebagai suplai benih untuk kebutuhan budidaya lobster. Metode penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode survei di Kecamatan Krui Selatan, Kabupaten Pesisir Barat, Lampung. Responden dalam penelitian adalah para nelayan penangkap BBL dan pengepul BBL. Penentuan responden dilakukan dengan metode snowball sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jenis lobster utama yang ditangkap adalah jenis lobster pasir dan lobster Mutiara. Hasil tangkapan nelayan lobster pada bulan gelap yaitu rata-rata 121 340 ekor BBL/bulan, sedangkan pada bulan terang rata-rata 4 680 ekor BBL/bulan, sehinnga dalam setahun benih yang dihasilkan mencapai 1.500.000 ekor BBL. BBL hasil tangkapan nelayan akan dijual pengepul kecil, selanjutnya ke pengepul besar, distributor dan eksportir. BBL terdistribusi ke berbagai wilayah mencakup Lampung, Bengkulu, Jambi, Palembang dan Jakarta. Marjin pemasaran yang diperoleh pengepul kecil dan besar mencapai 15 %. Produksi benih lobster yang melimpah di perairan Pantai Pesisir Barat Lampung sangat berpotensi untuk pengembangan budidaya pendederan lobster sebagai sumber ekonomi baru.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Cultivation of Panulirus homarus lobster is now carried out with sub-mersible net cage system at a certain depth in order to obtain optimal temperature, light and water pressure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the health status of the sand lobster P. homarus which was kept in sub-mersible net cage system measuring 250 cm × 272 cm × 135 cm with a depth of 6 m and 8 m in the waters of Semak Daun Island, Seribu Islands, DKI Jakarta. The average size of lobster seeds used was 93.23 ± 0.99 g/head with a density of 4 lobsters/m2. Lobsters were fed trash fish, molluscs and crustaceans, with a frequency of twice a day at 07.00 WIB 30% and 17.00 WIB 70% of the lobster biomass weight. This study used a completely randomized design with the two depth treatments mentioned above and three replications. Observations of total haemocyte count, differential haemocyte count, phenoloxidase activity, respiratory burst phagocytic activity and histology of lobster hepatopancreas were performed twice every 14 days. Based on the above observations, the depth does not affect the immune response, there is no visible damage to the cells and tissues of the lobster hepatopancreas. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the growth performance and physiological status of comet goldfish (Carassius auratus) in aquascape with different aquatic plant species. Comet goldfish with average size of 6.5 ± 0.1 cm length and 9.1 ± 0.1 g weight were reared in aquascape aquarium at density of 10 fish/L for 45 days. The result of this study obtained a positive correlation between survival value and specific growth rate of the fish, followed by a significant difference value among the aquatic plant treatments compared to without aquatic plant treatments. Based on the total chromatophore cells, comet goldfish that reared in aquarium containing aquatic plants higher number of the total chromatophore cells compared to aquarium without aquatic plants. After blood glucose test, comet goldfish that reared with aquatic plants consistently showed a lower blood glucose level than without aquatic plants. The liver superoxide dismutase level of comet goldfish obtained a significant difference value between fish reared with aquatic plants and without aquatic plants, while the malondialdehyde value of all treatments was insignificantly difference. Also, the increased of total erythrocytes, total leucocytes, hemoglobin, and hematocrit were found on comet goldfish reared with aquatic plants. This study concluded that aquatic plants in rearing system can improve the survival rate, specific growth rate, and health status of comet goldfish due to mutualistic symbiosis discovered between fish and aquatic plants. Keywords: blood glucose, chromatophore cells, phytoremediation, specific growth rate, superoxide dismutase ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi performa pertumbuhan dan status fisiologis ikan mas komet (Carassius auratus) dalam akuaskap dengan spesies tanaman air yang berbeda. Ikan mas komet dengan ukuran rata-rata panjang 6,5 ± 0,1 cm dan berat rata-rata 9,1 ± 0,1 g dipelihara dalam akuarium akuaskap dengan kepadatan 10 ekor/L selama 45 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat korelasi positif antara nilai kelangsungan hidup dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik ikan, dengan perbedaan nilai yang signifikan antara perlakuan tanaman air dibandingkan dengan tanpa perlakuan tanaman air. Berdasarkan jumlah sel kromatofor, ikan mas komet yang dipelihara dalam akuarium yang berisi tanaman air memiliki jumlah total sel kromatofor yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan akuarium tanpa tanaman air. Setelah dilakukan pemeriksaan glukosa darah, ikan mas komet yang dipelihara dengan tanaman air secara konsisten menunjukkan kadar glukosa darah yang lebih rendah dibandingkan tanpa tanaman air. Kadar suproksida dismutase hati ikan mas komet diperoleh nilai perbedaan yang nyata antara ikan yang dipelihara dengan tanaman air dan tanpa tanaman air, sedangkan nilai malondialdehida pada semua perlakuan tidak berbeda nyata. Peningkatan total eritrosit, total leukosit, hemoglobin, dan hematokrit juga ditemukan pada ikan mas komet yang dipelihara dengan tanaman air. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tanaman air dalam sistem pemeliharaan dapat meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup, laju pertumbuhan spesifik, dan status kesehatan ikan mas komet karena adanya simbiosis mutualistik yang ditemukan antara ikan dan tanaman air. Abstract

Bonylip barb fish Osteochilus hasselti is traditionally cultivated as a by-product in a polyculture system due to the problem of seed availability. The increase in local market demand for O. hasselti has not been met due to the low productivity of the growers. In an effort to increase the availability of fish seeds, intensification at the nursery stage has the potential to be effective in overcoming the limitations of land and water for cultivation. The aquaponic system can maximize yields through vertical use of space and also overcome water limitations with a recirculation system. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the aquaponics system on the intensification of O. hasselti nursery. The treatment tested was the stocking density of O. hasselti at an initial length of 4.28 ± 0.52 cm and a weight of 0.73 ± 0.29 g as many as 100 ind./m2, 150 ind./m2, and 200 ind./m2 in an aquaponic system with bok choy plants (Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis). Bonylip barb fish nursery for 30 days using aquaponic system showed that the treatment resulted in maximum survival with absolute length growth, feed conversion ratio, coefficient of variation in length and weight which were not significantly different (P>0.05). At densities above 100 ind./m2, the absolute weight growth value and the specific growth rate were higher. Overall, it can be concluded that the aquaponics system can be used for O. hasselti nursery at high stocking densities with the best production performance at a stocking density of 200 ind./m2. Keywords: fish density, growth, intensification, pak choi ABSTRAK Ikan nilem Osteochilus hasselti dibudidayakan secara tradisional sebagai produk sampingan dalam sistem polikultur karena masalah ketersediaan benih. Peningkatan permintaan pasar lokal terhadap nilem belum dapat dipenuhi karena rendahnya produktivitas pembesaran. Dalam upaya meningkatkan ketersediaan benih ikan, intensifikasi pada tahap pendederan berpotensi efektif mengatasi keterbatasan lahan dan air untuk budidaya. Perkembangan teknologi budidaya dengan sistem akuaponik dapat memaksimalkan hasil melalui pemanfaatan ruang secara vertikal dan mengatasi keterbatasan air dengan sistem resirkulasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas sistem akuaponik terhadap intensifikasi pendederan ikan nilem. Perlakuan yang diuji adalah padat tebar ikan nilem dengan panjang 4,28 ± 0,52 cm dan bobot 0,73 ± 0,29 g sebanyak 100 ekor/m2, 150 ekor/m2, dan 200 ekor/m2 pada sistem akuaponik dengan tanaman pak choi Brassica rapa subsp. chinensis. Pendederan nilem selama 30 hari dalam sistem akuaponik memperlihatkan bahwa perlakuan menghasilkan kelangsungan hidup serta panjang dan bobot yang tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05). Pada kepadatan di atas 100 ekor/m2 diperoleh nilai pertumbuhan bobot mutlak dan laju pertumbuhan spesifik yang lebih tinggi. Secara keseluruhan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa sistem akuaponik dapat digunakan untuk pendederan ikan nilem pada padat tebar yang tinggi dengan kinerja produksi terbaik pada padat tebar 200 ekor/m2. Abstract

Aquaponics and biofloc are aquaculture techniques for reducing nitrogenous waste with less water exchange. Aquaponics reduces nitrate (NO3-) through the role of vegetable plants, while biofloc assimilates ammonia (NH4+) through the role of floc-forming bacteria. In this study a collaboration was designed between aquaponics and biofloc called aquabioponics. This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of tilapia production, as well as to observe the dynamics of P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu minerals formed in the system. This study used a completely randomized design with three treatments and three replications, namely aquaponics (AP), biofloc (BF), and aquabioponics (AB). The AP integrates water in fish tank with vegetable, and does not use additional organic carbon sources. BF uses the addition of an organic carbon source, but does not integrate vegetables. Meanwhile, AB uses the addition of an organic carbon source (half of the dose in BF) and also integrates vegetables. Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus with a length of 5.56 ± 0.13 cm and a weight of 5.92 ± 0.47 g totaling 200 individuals were monitored for 60 days in a fiber tank containing 500 L of water in each treatment. The vegetables used in the AP and AB are Pok Choi which is harvested every 30 days. In this study, aquabioponics is a system that produces the best tilapia production performance. The minerals Ca, Mg, Mn, Zn, and Cu are thought to be essential in aquaponics and aquabioponics, while Mg is thought to be essential in bioflocs. Keywords: aquaponic, aquabioponic, biofloc, minerals, Nile tilapia ABSTRAK Akuaponik dan bioflok adalah teknik akuakultur untuk mereduksi limbah nitrogen dengan sedikit pertukaran air. Akuaponik mereduksi nitrat (NO3-) melalui peran tanaman sayuran, sedangkan bioflok mengasimilasi amonia (NH4+) melalui peran bakteri pembentuk flok. Penelitian ini merancang kolaborasi antara akuaponik dan bioflok yang disebut akuabioponik. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi kinerja produksi ikan nila, serta mengamati dinamika mineral P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, dan Cu yang terbentuk di dalam sistem. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan dan tiga ulangan, yaitu akuaponik (AP), bioflok (BF), dan akuabioponik (AB). AP mengintegrasikan air pemeliharaan ikan dengan penanaman sayur, dan tidak menggunakan penambahan sumber karbon organik. BF menggunakan penambahan sumber karbon organik, namun tidak menggintegrasikan sayuran. AB menggunakan penambahan sumber karbon organik (setengah dari dosis pada BF) dan juga mengintegrasikan sayuran. Ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus dengan panjang 5.56±0.13 cm dan bobot 5.92 ± 0.47 g sebanyak 200 ekor dipelihara selama 60 hari pada bak fiber berisi 500 L air di setiap perlakuan. Sayuran pada AP dan AB adalah Pok Choi yang dipanen setiap 30 hari. Pada penelitian ini, akuabioponik merupakan sistem yang menghasilkan kinerja produksi ikan nila terbaik. Abstract

Aquaponics is a fish and hydroponic plant-rearing system that utilises fish waste as a plant nutrient. Because water quality can be maintained at an optimal level for fish in the system to enhance farming productivity. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of fish density on the nursery stage of red tilapia in a small-scale aquaponic system. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design at three levels of stocking density, namely 250 fish/m2, 375 fish/m2, and 500 fish/m2 of red tilapia at an initial size of 6.8 ± 0.35 cm, with 30 net pots of bok choy plant as co-culture. The results that the increase in fish population escalated the productivity of both fish and vegetable in 30 days farming period. The stocking density did not affect fish survival 99 ± 0.82%, 97 ± 1.27%, and 97 ± 0.68%, respectively (p>0.05), but supported a better specific growth rate, namely 3.09 ± 0.30%/day; 3.57 ± 0.23%/day; 4.03 ± 0.04%/day (p<0.05). Interestingly, the smallest coefficient of diversity and lowest feed conversion ratio were obtained at 500 fish/m3, whereas absolute length growth did not differ. Bok choy production increased with fish density, namely 2.82 ± 0.06 kg; 2.88 ± 0.08 kg; 3.17 ± 0.10 kg, respectively (p<0.05). The water quality parameter values were almost identical in all treatments, except for the lowest bacterial abundance gained at stocking density of 500 fish/m3. In conclusion, the aquaponic system can be used to nurseries tilapia seeds at high stocking densities for production efficiency. Keywords: aquaculture, bok choy, hydroponics, intensification ABSTRAK Akuaponik adalah sistem pemeliharaan ikan dan tanaman hidroponik yang memanfaatkan kotoran ikan sebagai nutrisi tanaman. Karena kualitas air dapat dipertahankan pada tingkat optimal untuk ikan dalam sistem akuaponik untuk meningkatkan produktivitas budidaya. Penelitian ini dilakukan mengevaluasi pengaruh peningkatan kepadatan ikan pada tahap pendederan ikan nila merah dalam sistem akuaponik skala kecil. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap pada tiga tingkat kepadatan tebar yaitu 250 ekor/m2, 375 ikan/m2, dan ikan nila merah sebanyak 500 ekor/m2 dengan ukuran awal 6,8 ± 0,35 cm, pada masing-masing sistem aquaponik dengan 30 net pot tanaman bok choy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan populasi ikan telah meningkatkan produktivitas ikan dan sayuran dalam masa budidaya 30 hari. Peningkatan padat penebaran tidak berpengaruh terhadap kelangsungan hidup ikan yaitu berturut-turut sebesar 99 ± 0,82%, 97 ± 1,27%, dan 97 ± 0,68% (p>0,05), namun mampu mendukung laju pertumbuhan spesifik yang lebih baik yaitu 3,09 ± 0,30%/hari; 3,57 ± 0,23%/hari; dan 4,03 ± 0,04%/hari (p<0,05). Menariknya, koefisien keanekaragaman terkecil dan rasio konversi pakan terendah diperoleh pada kepadatan 500 ekor/m3, sedangkan pertumbuhan panjang absolut tidak berbeda. Produksi bok choy meningkat seiring dengan kepadatan ikan yaitu berturut-turut 2,82 ± 0,06 kg; 2,88 ± 0,08 kg; 3,17 ± 0,10 kg, (p<0,05). Nilai parameter kualitas air hampir sama pada semua perlakuan, kecuali kelimpahan bakteri terendah diperoleh pada padat tebar 500 ekor/m3. Secara keseluruhan, produksi ikan dan tanaman tertinggi terdapat pada kepadatan penebaran 500 ekor/m3. Kesimpulannya, sistem akuaponik dapat digunakan untuk pembibitan benih ikan nila dengan padat tebar tinggi untuk efisiensi produksi. Kata kunci: akuakultur, hidroponik, intensifikasi, pak coy

Abstract

The market demand for catfish for consumption is increasing, so it is necessary to increase its cultivation productivity. For this reason, an increase in the production of ready-to-stock seeds in the rearing ponds is carried out which can be achieved through improving the management of seeds, water, and feed. With the increase in production in Sukamandijaya Village, there are opportunities for expansion to a wider market, both nationally and for export. This can make Kampung Patin one of the leading centers in the freshwater fisheries industry in West Java. The purpose of this community service activities is to prepare human resources who are responsive to innovation progress and resilient in increasing the productivity of catfish cultivation, especially in the nursery segment. The activity was carried out from August to October 2024 with four stages, namely socialization and surveys, catfish nursery training, demonstrations and mentoring, and activity evaluation. The target of the activity was 30 members of the Fish Cultivation Group (Pokdakan) in Sukamandijaya Village, Ciasem, Subang, West Java. The catfish nursery revitalization activity has had a positive impact on farmers, especially in increasing knowledge and skills. Skills improvement includes the use of water quality measuring equipment, data recording and analysis, knowledge of water probiotics to improve water quality and feed probiotics to improve feed efficiency, and awareness of the importance of food safety through the introduction of herbal medicines for controlling fish diseases. Time constraints in training are a challenge in themselves, so they are carried out through monitoring activities and discussions via the internet so that farmers still get the guidance needed to apply the techniques that have been learned optimally.

Abstract

The production of fisheries cultivation in Selayar Islands Regency has obstacles, including lack of technology, disease attacks, and not yet mastered marketing strategies and sales of production results. This is the background for implementing the integration of human resource development (HRD) and integrated appropriate marine aquatic organism cultivation technology in Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi. This activity aims to increase human resources' capacity in aquatic organism cultivation through training and mentoring activities. The community service program consists of maritime development training through fish cultivation, hybrid public lectures on potential and challenges in mariculture, discussions on program sustainability/exploration of cooperation with the Fisheries Service and Regional Secretary, and visits and consultations on community ponds. Maritime development training through fish cultivation uses materials on container preparation, cultivation systems, feed and feeding, water quality management, and fish and shrimp health management. Public lectures on potential and challenges in mariculture are carried out using materials on fish cultivation in KJA, lobster cultivation, and marketing of mariculture products. The partner stakeholders include IPB, the Fisheries Service of Selayar Islands Regency, UNHAS (TP3 Selayar Study Program), fisheries extension workers (KKP), and fish farming groups.

Abstract

Abandoned mine quarries are a growing concern in many developing countries, especially in the Indonesian archipelago, where challenging geography often hinders regulatory inspections. Repurposing quarry settling ponds for fish culture poses a challenge because, while these ponds offer an opportunity to convert post-mining geological assets into sustainable resources, not all fish species can survive the poor water conditions typical of these ponds. Reclaiming post-mining land offers an opportunity to convert these geological sites into productive fish culture areas. In this study, a settling pond at a post-mining site in Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia, was treated, and fish species were selected using a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making method to ensure survivability and economic sustainability. The three best species were tested in a 1.5 m x 1 m x    1 m floating net cage with 200 fish stocked per cage, with a culture time of 70 days. The selected fish species cultured were catfish (Clarias gariepinus), common carp (Cyprinus carpio), and tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Survival rates ranged from 53.5 to 86%, showing the pond’s potential for fish farming. Catfish and tilapia exhibited the highest growth, survival, and production rates, more than twice that of common carp, highlighting their suitability for sustainable fish culture in reclaimed settling ponds.

Abstract

Quality of human resources is a key factor in the success of cultivation. Farmers who have good technical knowledge and skills tend to be more successful in managing their ponds. Therefore, through training and mentoring programs, it is hoped that the knowledge and skills needed to increase shrimp pond productivity can be provided. The purpose of this activity is to improve farmers' understanding of effective and efficient white shrimp cultivation techniques, identify problems, and create networks between farmers to share experiences and information. The training was held in July 2024 in Karangsewu Village, Galur District, Kulon Progo Regency, D.I.Yogyakarta Province. The training attended by 35 participants consisting of white shrimp farmers, fisheries extension workers, and the surrounding community. After completing the training, participants received support in the form of mentoring for shrimp cultivation activities for three months. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. The results showed that the level of knowledge of participants increased by 6.64%. As many as 79% of participants strongly agreed that the training could improve their knowledge, 71% strongly agreed that the training they attended was relevant to their jobs, and 86% of participants stated that they could develop their potential after attending the program. The results of post-training monitoring showed that productivity of white shrimp pond increased from an average of 12 tons/ha to 23.16 tons/ha. This program not only increases productivity and business sustainability, but also has a positive impact on the economy of the surrounding community. There needs to be a follow-up program to improve shrimp farmers' understanding of financial management, marketing strategies, and the development of value-added products.
