Abstract

This study analyzes the structural behavior of the 6-story Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Pontianak under earthquake loads, emphasizing its stability, safety, and performance in soft soil conditions. The analysis includes evaluating load combinations, response spectrum curves, stability coefficients, and P-Delta effects. Results indicate that the building's structural stability meets seismic standards, with load combinations effectively calculated and deviations between design and actual conditions remaining within allowable tolerances. The response spectrum curve highlights peak accelerations during short periods, corresponding to the region's soft soil characteristics. The P-Delta effect does not significantly impact stability, confirming that the structure performs well under seismic loads. Future research is recommended to optimize earthquake-resistant designs for buildings with six or more stories, focusing on innovative materials, advanced foundation systems, and real-time monitoring technologies. This study concludes that the Pastoral Center structure provides adequate safety and stability while offering pathways for improving structural resilience in seismic-prone areas.

Abstract

The height of the bridge arch significantly impacts the strength and structural efficiency. Research on the height of the Tayan Bridge arch was conducted to determine the values and behaviour of member forces, structural weight, and deflection and to design the optimal arch height geometry. This research involved five variations of the arch height. The bridge structure was modelled using AutoCAD software. Relevant bridge loading data based on the SNI 1725-2016 standard was inputted into AutoCAD for structural design, and then the structure was modelled and analysed using SAP2000. The analysis results provided information on the bridge weight, deflection, and member forces. The analysis results were then compared with the bridge arch height, and this comparison was presented in the form of graphs. From the analysis results, it can be concluded that the bridge arch height has a positive linear relationship with the bridge weight. Tensile and compressive forces exhibit opposite behaviour. Increasing the arch height with constant value results in weight, deflection, and member force variations. Constantly expanding the arch height also does not lead to an increase in the stiffness of the bridge. Structurally, the optimal arch height is 42.134 meters.

Abstract

The rapid development of physical and infrastructure projects in Indonesia necessitates efficient building materials. Mortar, a standard construction material comprising fine aggregate, water, and cement, has strength, environmental resistance, and flexibility limitations. This study investigates using epoxy resin as a substitute for cement in mortar production. Epoxy resin, a liquid material that hardens into a strong binder, offers potential benefits such as accelerated setting time and increased strength. The research uses river sand as the fine aggregate and varies the epoxy resin content from 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% of the material volume. Tests will measure compressive strength, split tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity across different epoxy resin compositions. Results from Tanjung Pura University's Materials and Construction Laboratory in Pontianak indicate that adding epoxy resin significantly improves compressive strength (up to 35.92 MPa at 25% resin) and tensile strength (up to 3.82 MPa at 25% resin). However, adding epoxy resin leads to a decreased modulus of elasticity, indicating increased deformability. This research sheds light on epoxy resin's impact on mortar strength and informs potential applications in concrete repair and construction.

Abstract

The mild to moderate earthquake zone includes the West Kalimantan region, especially Pontianak City. Along with the development of science, regulations governing building construction are continuously updated. SNI 1726-2019 results in that every building in the current mild earthquake zone must consider the earthquake force parameters so as not to cause a significant loss impact. Therefore, the design of an eight-story flats structure located in Pontianak will be carried out to obtain the dimensions of structural components resistant to earthquake loads based on SNI 1726-2019. This building design is a reinforced concrete structure with a moment-bearing frame system, and the structural analysis is modeled with a structural analysis program. The structural dimensions used are 100 mm thick floor plates, 350/700 mm and 400/800 mm for the primary beams, 250/500 mm for the secondary beam, and 800x800 mm columns. This building is included in KDS C, so the earthquake force-bearing structural system used is the Medium Moment Bearing Frame System (SRPMM). This structure has a type 2 horizontal deviation or inner corner deviation and a type 2 vertical deviation or weight (mass) deviation. Based on the structural analysis results, it is then adjusted to the structural parameters by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The results of the structural analysis are then continued with the calculation of reinforced concrete structures in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) to ensure that the results meet the required safety criteria.

Abstract

Polymer mortar is an alternative material developed by utilising epoxy resin as a binder and stone dust as a fine aggregate. This study aims to analyse the effect of epoxy resin variation on the compressive strength of stone dust-based polymer mortar. The epoxy resin variations used in this study were 10%, 15%, and 20% of the material weight. Compressive strength testing was conducted at ages of 1, 2, 7, 14, and 21 days. The results showed that an increase in the percentage of epoxy resin significantly improved the mechanical properties of polymer mortar. At a variation of 10%, a compressive strength of 9.03 MPa was obtained at 21 days. Meanwhile, a variation of 20% resulted in a compressive strength of 17.71 MPa. This study indicates that an increase in the epoxy mixture content and a longer testing age affect the increase in the compressive strength of stone dust-based polymer mortar. These results also support the application of sustainable construction principles through the use of alternative materials.
