Abstract

The traditional production of salted eggs in Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi, reflects scientific principles relevant to chemistry education. This study explores this local practice through an ethnoscience perspective and assesses its potential as a contextual chemistry learning resource. A qualitative descriptive design with an ethnographic approach was used. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving key informants (senior artisans), main informants (active producers), and supporting informants (community members). Data analysis applied source triangulation and inductive reasoning to ensure validity and allow themes to emerge. The findings reveal that the salted egg-making process incorporates various chemical concepts, including diffusion, osmosis, protein denaturation, physical and chemical changes, solution chemistry, and colligative properties. Artisans demonstrate empirical knowledge through consistent techniques, even without using formal scientific terms. The novelty of this study lies in its systematic integration of traditional salted egg production with core chemical concepts, positioning it as a culturally grounded and pedagogically valuable learning resource aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. The practice embodies local values such as diligence, cooperation, and sustainability, making it suitable for character education and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Integrating this ethnoscientific knowledge into classroom instruction can help students grasp abstract chemistry concepts through real-life, culturally relevant contexts. Overall, this study supports the use of local wisdom as a means to enrich science education and preserve cultural heritage.

Abstract

The successful implementation of a job begins with the determination of a reliable estimation value. One of the models used in determining the estimated value of a job, using data from the cost budget plan (RAB) on work that has been carried out, is the Cost Significant Model.   In this study, the data used were five suspension bridge construction jobs starting from 2018 to 2022. the data obtained from the RAB is processed into independent variables and dependent variables, which are then tested using multiple linear regression methods using the SPSS application. Based on the results of the analysis, the influential variables are X2, namely Bridge Oprit Work; X4, namely Upper Building Work (Transportation and Installation of Truss Bridges); and X5, namely Lower Building Work (Angkur Block Work, Pyilon Foundations, Wind Ties) with a total weight of 85.30%.   By using the equation Y = -21,640,343,680,000 + (1,856,843,372 x X2) + (453,953,095 x X4) + (41,965,201,370 x X5), the maximum value of 62.21% and minimum value of -98.05% are obtained, so it falls into the Class 5 category. Class 5 has an accuracy value ranging from +30% to +100%, so it is estimated that it is feasible to use it to carry out the initial concept screening estimation.

Abstract

Reinforced concrete, a popular construction choice, is often selected due to the limited availability of materials like wood and increased familiarity with concrete. However, coastal structures using steel bars in reinforced concrete usually face corrosion issues. Corrosion can be mitigated by increasing concrete compressive strength and enlarging the concrete cover to protect the steel from saltwater. These measures are challenging for small structures due to the small dimensions of columns, beams, and plates, making thick concrete covers difficult. Additionally, small structures are often built manually or semi-manually, complicating the achievement of higher compressive strength and watertightness. However, there is hope. Researchers have developed reinforced concrete with non-metal reinforcement, such as fiber mesh and nylon rope, and combined regular and lightweight concrete to reduce dead loads, creating a sandwich concrete slab. Test results show that the slab has sufficient strength for light construction, with a strong bond between mortar and foam concrete. Although fiber mesh and nylon rope do not yet increase the slab's flexural strength, nylon rope prevents brittle failure. This promising research paves the way for further studies and potential improvements in the future.

Abstract

A solid foundation is a concrete mix using steel reinforcement, but the reinforcement has the disadvantage of being corrosive when used in coastal areas. Therefore, this research uses strapping bands as a substitute for steel reinforcement. This research is focused on the manufacture of mortar plates for lightweight construction, especially in foundation parts such as footing foundations.   This research used 5 (five) variations of slab mixture including, variation A1 which is mortar slab without additional strapping band, variation B1 which is mortar slab with additional 3 pieces of strapping band as thick as 1 layer on each top and bottom layer, so on up to variation B4 as thick as 4 layers. The results of the mortar plate bending test obtained the value of the bending moment of variations A1, B1, B2, B3, and B4 are 0.148 kN.m; 0.183 kN.m; 0.222 kN.m; 0.278 kN.m; 0.325 kN.m. Then the maximum bending moment value is averaged in the variation that uses a 4-layer thick strapping band. From this research it can be concluded that to get a high bending moment value, the more strapping bands are used.

Abstract

Buildings should be designed for strength and longevity, considering various loads like live, dead, and wind. In Kalimantan Barat, particularly Pontianak City, mild to moderate earthquakes are common, making it crucial to follow SNI 1726-2019 regulations for earthquake-resistant design. This includes using a Moment Resisting Frame system that allows the structure to absorb lateral forces and prevent sudden collapse. The chosen system reflects the building's function and soil data, ensuring it meets safety and practicality standards. For the Ayani Square Building, intermediate Moment Resisting Frames with seismic design category C were employed. The structure must adhere to SNI 1726-2019 for safety, with reinforcement designed per SNI 2847-2019 to enhance robustness. Spun piles are used in the foundation to provide stability and load-bearing capacity, effectively reducing seismic impact in moderate hazard zones. Keywords: Structural Analysis, Reinforced Concrete Structures, Intermediate Moment Resisting Frame Systems, and Seismic Design Category C

Abstract

The publishing of the new Indonesian seismic code SNI-1729-2019, which was just issued at the end of 2017, is one example of how laws controlling building construction have been changed to keep up with the times, which is the earth study result by Pusat Studi Gempa Nasional (PUSGEN) update includes incorporating a new source of an earthquake, new active faults, more accurate topography map, and earthquake catalog. One of the new seismic zones in the SNI is Pontianak, so in planning buildings in Pontianak, earthquake force parameters must be calculated so that in the event of an earthquake, anticipatory measures can be taken so as not to cause significant losses. This study is planning the structure of Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis Sabda Setia Kota Pontianak building, which refers to the Indonesian seismic code SNI-1729-2019.  The structural analysis is carried out using the help of a structural analysis program adjusted to the value of the planned structural dimensions, which are floor slabs with a thickness of 100 mm, main beams 350/700 mm, child beams 300/600 mm and 250/500 mm, to columns K1 D-800 mm and K2 500×500 mm.
