The existence of a souvenir center in Gianyar Regency has an important role in supporting the sustainability of tourism in Bali. Strategic steps that can be taken to improve the quality of company services are by improving the performance of human resources. The aim of the research is to analyze the influence of work stress, compensation and motivation on the performance of employees at the Balinese souvenir center in Gianyar Regency, as well as analyzing the role of motivation in indirectly mediating the influence of compensation and work stress on employee performance. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach. The object of this research is the Balinese souvenir center which is located in the area of Jl. The data collection method was carried out by means of a field survey using an instrument in the form of a closed questionnaire. The research data was then processed using descriptive statistical analysis PLS (Partial Least Square) analysis. Research findings showed that compensation and work stress had an effect on motivation, as well as compensation and motivation had an effect on employee performance, but work stress had no effect on employee performance. Meanwhile, to test the indirect effect of compensation on employee performance through motivation and work stress on employee performance through motivation, significant results were obtained.

Abstract

Tourism is a driver of the world economy that is proven to be able to contribute to the prosperity of a country. This sector can also be reached by people from various groups, so it is labor-intensive oriented and should be able to absorb a higher workforce compared to other sectors. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze the influence of the number of tourist attractions and the number of tourist visits on employment in the tourism sector per province in Indonesia. This research was designed as associative quantitative research. The population in this study is all 34 provinces in Indonesia. The sampling technique uses saturated sampling, so that the number of samples in this study is the same as the population. Data collection techniques through documentation studies obtained from data from the Indonesian Provincial Central Statistics Agency. The collected data will be analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The research results show that the number of tourist attractions and the number of tourist visits have a significant effect on employment in the tourism sector. This shows that if there are more tourist attractions and tourist visits in a province in Indonesia, then more workers will be absorbed in that area.

Abstract

Bali Island, as a premier tourist destination, offers various potentials, including educational tourism that combines recreation and learning. One such potential location is Paon Bali, a traditional Balinese kitchen complex serving as a learning laboratory at the International Institute of Tourism and Business. This study aims to design educational tourism attractions based on culture and culinary aspects at Paon Bali. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, then analyzed with Miles and Huberman's Interactive Data Analysis Model. The findings present the design of attractions such as Tour de Paon Bali, selfie activities, traditional games, cooking classes, culinary review sessions, and cooking competitions, which can be aligned with academic programs on campus. This study supports sustainable educational tourism attractions based on Community-Based Tourism (CBT) in a consistent and continuous manner.

Abstract

The tourism industry plays a strategic role in the economic development of Bali, particularly through the accommodation and food and beverage sectors, which contribute significantly to the region’s Gross Regional Domestic Product. The growth of the hospitality sector requires the availability of a workforce with professional competencies that align with industry standards. However, previous studies indicate a competency gap between graduates of vocational training institutions and the actual needs of the hospitality industry, particularly in the field of Food and Beverage Service (FBS). This study aims to analyze the existing FBS training model implemented in Job Training Institutions (Lembaga Pelatihan Kerja/LPK) in Denpasar, identify competency gaps between training outcomes and industry requirements, and develop an innovative competency-based training model that is more responsive to the dynamics of the hospitality industry. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, Focus Group Discussions, and document analysis involving training institution managers, instructors, trainees, and representatives from the hospitality industry. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings reveal that the FBS training model implemented in LPK Denpasar has adopted the principles of competency-based training with a dominant proportion of practical learning and a curriculum referring to the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI). Nevertheless, the training model remains primarily oriented toward meeting basic competency standards and has not been fully integrated with the dynamic operational demands of the hospitality industry. The study also identifies competency gaps in both technical and soft skills that affect graduates’ job readiness. In response to these findings, this research proposes a Best Practice CBT Model that integrates the Competency-Based Training approach, the ADDIE instructional design framework, and the link-and-match principle with industry. The proposed model is expected to enhance graduates’ job readiness and strengthen the effectiveness of vocational training in the hospitality sector.
