Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the impoliteness strategies in hate comments on Noah Schnapp’s Instagram posts and explain the function of impoliteness strategies manifested by netizens in Noah Schnapp’s Instagram posts. The controversy that arose after Schnapp openly supported Zionism triggered a flood of hate comments from netizens. The research used Jonathan Culpeper’s theory of impoliteness (1996) to identify five types of impoliteness strategies: negative impoliteness, bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, sarcasm or mock politeness, and withhold politeness. The data were collected from netizens' utterances on Noah Schnapp's Instagram posts and analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method. As a result, out of 30 data analyzed, the negative impoliteness strategy was the most dominant (15 data), followed by bald on record (7 data), sarcasm or mock politeness (4 data), and positive impoliteness (4 data), while withhold politeness was not found. In terms of function, most of the comments reflect affective functions (16 data), which show emotional outbursts such as anger or disappointment, followed by coercive functions (9 data), and entertainment functions (5 data).

Abstract

Research Aims: This development research aims to develop accounting computer learning media (Accurate Manufacture).   Design/methodology/approach: This learning media was created using the R&D development model. The research design used a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pretest-post-test design. The application is named “AMMan,” which generally includes Accurate Online Integration components that can be accessed via mobile, material, quizzes, interactive questions, and a teacher collaborative space.   Research Findings: The results of material and media expert validation with a score of 87.4%, limited users 84.6%, and students 87%, indicate that overall aspects are valid and feasible for use in learning activities. The research results through the paired sample t-test showed that the sig. The value of the cognitive domain was 0.001 less than the significance level of 0.05, so it can be stated that there are differences in learning outcomes before and after using learning media.   Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The difference indicates an increase in student learning outcomes, which, on average, increased by 21% in the cognitive domain. Thus, it can be stated that “AMMan” is effective in improving student learning outcomes at the student understanding level.

Abstract

Abstract    This research examines the psychological effects of language manipulation in George Orwell's Animal Farm using Van Dijk's sociocognitive approach. The study explores how language, through strategic manipulation, reinforces social control and psychological subjugation of characters at three levels: micro, meso, and macro. Using in-depth text reading and analysis methods, this study identifies linguistic structures, character interactions, and ideological constructions that contribute to the psychological effects on animals. At the micro level, word choice and sentence structure shape individual perceptions, instilling fear and encouraging obedience. At the meso level, social interactions between characters display emotional manipulation tactics that reinforce collective loyalty and obedience. The macro level highlights ideological changes in social structures, where language systematically conditions characters to accept unjust hierarchies as natural. These manipulative techniques cumulatively suggest that language functions as a tool of psychological control, influencing both individual cognition and collective behavior.
