Abstract

A teacher's Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is important in implementing mathematics learning. Therefore it is necessary to do socialization about PCK to mathematics teachers. One of the efforts that can be done is to provide community service. This effort was carried out by holding workshops for mathematics teachers at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 5 Cibatu. The data was collected by giving a questionnaire to the mathematics teacher. The results of this community service show that the development of PCK needs to be accompanied by the development of knowledge of mathematics content as an integral part of teacher competence in teaching mathematics.

Abstract

The problem of teacher weakness in using software applications to support the online learning process is the theme raised in this training. The solution offered from this training is the Jotform application. The purpose of this training activity is to introduce the Jotform application to teachers in Garut. The research implementation method consists of five stages, namely: introduction, socialization, training, practice, and monitoring. The object of this training activity is the teachers in the Garut region. The training was conducted in two sessions, namely: presentation of material and practice. The benefit of the Jotform application training is evident from the commitment of the training participants about the plan to implement the Jotform application in their learning class. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of this training indicate that this training is useful to support the teaching and learning process carried out in schools. The training method is able to improve the skills of teachers in using the Jotform application. The conclusion of this training is the knowledge in using the Jotform application for teachers so that it is hoped that in the future teachers in Garut will use the Jotform application in making attendance forms and questionnaires/assignments/quizzes

Abstract

The problem of teachers' weakness in using e-learning media to support the learning process is the theme raised in this training. The solution offered from this training is Edmodo e-learning media. The purpose of this training activity was to introduce Edmodo to the e-learning media for teachers in Garut. The research implementation method consists of five stages, namely: introduction, socialization, training, practice, and monitoring. The object of this training activity is alumni teachers from the Garut Indonesian Institute of Education campus. The training was conducted in two sessions, namely: presentation of material and practice. The usefulness of the training in the use of Edmodo e-learning media is evident from the commitment of the training participants about the plan to implement Edmodo's e-learning media in their learning class. The results of the evaluation of the implementation of this training indicate that this training is useful to support the teaching and learning process carried out in schools. The training method can improve the skills of teachers in using Edmodo e-learning media, both as teachers, students, and parents of students. The conclusion of this training is the knowledge in the use of Edmodo e-learning media for teachers so that it is hoped that in the future teachers in Garut will use Edmodo e-learning media in supporting teaching and learning activities

Abstract

AbstrakMatematika memiliki peranan penting dalam kehidupan. Namun, dalam praktik pembelajarannya sebagian siswa masih menganggap matematika sebagai mata pelajaran yang sulit. Bukti-bukti di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar geometri masih rendah. Kesulitan pada materi geometri dapat berdampak pada kesulitan-kesulitan bagian lain dalam materi geometri itu sendiri, karena banyak pokok bahasan dalam geometri yang saling berhubungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kesulitan siswa dalam proses pemecahan masalah geometri berdasarkan tahapan berpikir Van Hiele serta untuk melihat ketercapaian siswa dalam pemahaman geometri berdasarkan tahapan berpikir geometri Van Hiele. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian yang diambil sebanyak 6 siswa dari kelas VII C SMP Negeri 6 Garut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketercapaian siswa pada proses pemecahan masalah geometri berdasarkan tahapan berpikir Van Hiele paling banyak adalah pada tahap 0 (visualisasi). Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan tingginya persentase pencapaian siswa pada tahap visualisasi yaitu sebanyak 96,87 %. Ketercapaian tahapan berpikir Van Hiele yang paling baik dicapai sebesar 3,13% pada tahap 1 (Analisis). Untuk tahap 2 (deduksi informal) dan tahap 3 (deduksi) belum ada siswa yang mampu mencapai tahapan tersebut. Faktor yang menjadi penyebab kesulitan siswa dalam materi segiempat disebabkan karena beberapa hal, yaitu pemahaman mengenai konsep dan sifat-sifat segiempat yang kurang, pemahaman sebelumnya mengenai materi bangun datar segiempat yang masih kurang kuat, kurangnya keterampilan menggunakan ide-ide geometri dalam memecahkan masalah matematika yang berkaitan dengan bangun segiempat, serta kondisi kelas yang kurang kondusif untuk belajar.Kata Kunci: Kesulitan siswa pada geometri, tahapan berpikir Van Hiele, Kualitatif, Studi Kasus.AbstractMathematics has an important role in life. However, in the practice of learning some students still regard mathematics as a difficult subject. The evidence in the field shows that the geometry learning result is still low. Difficulties in geometrical matter can affect the difficulties of other parts of the material itself, since many of the subjects in the geometry are interconnected. This study aims to determine the factors causing student difficulties in the process of solving geometry problems based on the stages of thinking Van Hiele and to see students' achievement in understanding geometry based on the stages of thinking geometry Van Hiele. The research method used is qualitative research method with case study research type. Research subjects taken as many as 6 students from class VII C SMP Negeri 6 Garut. The results showed that students' achievement in the process of solving geometry problems based on the stage of thinking Van Hiele at most is at stage 0 (visualization). This is indicated by the high percentage of student achievement in the visualization stage that is as much as 96.87%. The achievement of the best stage of Van Hiele thinking was achieved at 3.13% in stage 1 (Analysis). For stage 2 (informal deduction) and stage 3 (deduction) no students have been able to reach that stage. Factors that cause student difficulties in rectangular material caused by several things, namely the understanding of the concept and the characteristics of the rectangle is lacking, previous understanding of the material wake rectangular flat that is still less strong, the lack of skills to use geometric ideas in solving math problems Relating to wake up quadrilateral, as well as class conditions that are less conducive to learning.Keyword: Student difficulties on geometry, Van Hiele thinking stages, Qualitative, Case Studies.

Abstract

AbstrakBeberapa hasil penelitian terdahulu menunjukan adanya miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal bilangan berpangkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk miskonsepsi yang sering dilakukan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal bilangan berpangkat. Adapun jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif. Hal ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan pemahaman yang mendalam mengenai bentuk miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal yang berkaitan dengan bilangan berpangkat. Penelitian dilaksanakan di MTsN 2 Garut dengan sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah tiga orang siswa, masing-masing siswa berkemampuan tinggi, siswa berkemampuan sedang dan siswa berkemampuan rendah dalam pembelajaran matematika. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa tes, disertai wawancara. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa terdapat siswa yang mengalami miskonsepsi generalisasi, miskonsepsi notasi, miskonsepsi penspesialisasian, dan miskonsepsi bahasa. Analysis of Students' Misconceptions on Exponential NumbersAbstractSome of the results of previous studies indicate that there exist misconceptions encountered by students in solving exponential questions. This study intends to investigate the classification of misconceptions that students frequently do in solving exponential questions. The kind of research employed in this research is qualitative analysis. This intends to get a broad understanding of the form of misconceptions experienced by students in solving problems related to exponents. The study was conducted at MTsN 2 Garut with the source of the data in this study were three students, each student with high intelligence, students with medium intelligence, and students with low intelligence in learning mathematics. The instrument in this study was a test in the form of an essay, followed by interviews. From the study results, it was discovered that there were students who had the misconception of generalization, the misconception of notation, the misconception of specialization, and the misconception of language.

Abstract

AbstrakPada zaman sekarang, pembelajaran semakin menigkat. Begitu pula pada pelajaran matematika. Siswa lebih dituntut untuk bukan hanya sekadar mampu berhitung saja, tapi mampu mengaplikasikannya dalam memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemapuan literasi matematis siswa SMP kelas VIII di Kp. Panawuan Rt.02/Rw.10. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah deskriftif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 4 orang yang diambil secara acak. Berdasarkan hasill penelitian, meskipun soal yang diberikan adalah soal-soal standar atau rutin dan tergolong mudah karena mengambil level 1 dan 2. Seluruh subjek penelitiannya merasa kewalahan dan kesulitan dalam menafsirkan dan mengaplikasikan rumus yang sudah mereka ketahui dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang diberikan. Simpulan yang dapat diambil adalah kemampuan literasi matematis siswa dalam penelitian ini masih terbilang rendah karena siswa masih merasa kesulitan dalam menghadapi soal PISA dengan level 1 dan 2. AbstractIn this day and age, learning is increasing. Likewise in math lessons. Students are more required to not only be able to count, but also be able to apply it in solving problems in everyday life. This study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy skills of the VIII grade junior high school students at Kp. Panawuan Rt.02 / Rw. 10. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects consisted of 4 people who were taken randomly. Based on the research results, although the questions given are standard or routine and are relatively easy because they take levels 1 and 2. All research subjects feel overwhelmed and have difficulty in interpreting and applying the formulas they already know in solving the problems given. The conclusion that can be drawn is that students' mathematical literacy skills in this study are still low because students still find it difficult to face PISA questions with levels 1 and 2.

Abstract

One of the mathematical abilities that need to be owned by junior school students is a problem solving ability. By having the ability of problem solving, the students can be a good problem solver in every field that they do later. In fact, there are many junior high school students who have not achieved a good mathematical problem solving, especially in SPLDV topic. This research aims to improve students' problem-solving ability through the application of Pembelajaran Pelangi Matematika model in SPLDV topic. This type of research is a qualitative research using descriptive analysis method, any giving of the treatment was observed through observation sheets of student activity and observation sheet of teacher activities. To know the result of the given treatment, performed the final test and questionnaire. The results obtained from this study are the application of PPM models are able to bring students into the learning situation more meaningful and enjoyablein the process of classroom learning. The strategy of grouping students homogeneously brings independence and confidence of students to solve problems encountered. The steps used by PPM model make students did not feel depressed and even tend to be enthusiastic during the learning process takes place. Enhancing mathematical problem-solving ability of students at the high category and the students have a positive attitude towards the implementation of PPM model.The conclusion from this study is that the application of PPM models can enhance mathematical problem solving ability of students, especially in the SPLDV topic.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini berisi tentang analisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Alasan dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang diambil berawal dari tujuan pembelajaran yang tercantum dalam Permendiknas Nomor 22 Tahun 2006, didalamnya tercantum pentingnya variabel kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ini untuk dimiliki setiap siswa. Alasan penelitian ini lebih dikuatkan lagi dengan hasil kurang baik diperoleh perwakilan siswa Indonesia pada level tertentu di TIMSS dan PISA. Dari beberapa alasan ini, peneliti memutuskan untuk memilih kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sebagai variabel yang perlu ditingkatkan. Untuk variabel bebasnya, sebagai solusi yang peneliti tawarkan adalah model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry. Kedua model pembelajaran ini dipercaya dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari penelitian relevan yang saling berkaitan erat antara model pembelajaran dan kemampuannya. Penelitian dianalisis dengan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen (pre-test post-test control group design). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu dengan pemberian tes uraian. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP di Garut dengan sampel yang diambil adalah dua kelas pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Tarogong Kidul Garut, yaitu kelas eksperimen 1 dan kelas eksperimen 2. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1)Tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan Inquiry; (2)Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry tergolong tinggi; dan (3) Sikap siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry berinterpretasi baik.ABSTRACTThis study is about the analysis of students' mathematical problem solving. Reasons of mathematical problem solving was taken begins with learning objectives stated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 22 of 2006, in which the importance of students to have mathematical problem solving listed. The reason of this research was strengthened further with bad results obtained by the representative of Indonesian students at a particular level in TIMSS and PISA. Consequently, researchers decided to choose mathematical problem-solving as a variable that needed to be improved. For the independent variables, as solutions that offer researchers are Problem Based Learning and Inquiry learning model. Both learning model was believed to increase the ability of students' mathematical problem solving. There were evident from the relevant research closely interrelated between learning models and abilities. The study analyzed with quasi-experiments with experimental design (pre-test post-test control group design). Data collection techniques used by giving test description. The populations in this study are all junior high school students in Garut with samples taken were two classes in one of the Junior High School in Tarogong South Garut, namely the experimental class 1 and class 2. The experimental results showed that: (1) There is no difference in mathematical problem solving among the students who get Problem Based Learning or Inquiry; (2) The increase in mathematical problem solving of students who get Problem Based Learning and Inquiry is high; and (3) The attitude of students toward Problem Based Learning and Inquiry interprets well.

Abstract

AbstrakKeberhasilan pendidikan dipengaruhi oleh berbagai pelaku yang terlibat didalamnya, khususnya keefektifan seorang pendidik dalam mengelola lingkungan belajarnya. Peningkatan kualitas pendidikan diperlukan sebagai alat ukur dalam mencapai tingkat keberhasilan pendidikan yang lebih baik. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti memiliki tujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan matematika melalui masukan desain pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan oleh pendidik. Peningkatan ini pun urgen diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik Indonesia karena dalam beberapa ajang tes matematika skala internasional, peserta didik Indonesia di level tertentu masih memberikan hasil yang kurang baik. Pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) dijadikan sebagai solusi peningkatan kualitas peserta didik. RME mendasari desain dari seluruh konteks dan kegiatan pembelajaran. Design research dipilih sebagai sarana yang tepat untuk mencapai tujuan; dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, desain pendahuluan, percobaan mengajar, dan analisis retrospektif. Penelitian ini melibatkan 6-8 mahasiswa calon guru pada siklus pertama dan 30-40 mahasiswa calon guru pada siklus kedua bertempat di STKIP Garut. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menunjukkan bahwa serangkaian kegiatan pembelajaran RME dapat membuat mahasiswa calon guru tidak lagi keliru dalam memahami topik pecahan secara detail. AbstractThe successness of education is influenced by the various factors involved in it, especially the effectiveness of an educator in managing his learning environment. Improving the quality of education is needed as a measuring tool in achieving a better level of educational successness. In this study, researchers have a goal to improve the quality of mathematics education through instructional design input that can be used by educators. This improvement is also urgent to improve the ability of Indonesian students because in some international scale mathematical tests, Indonesian students at medium level still give unfavorable results. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) Approach serves as a solution to improve the quality of learners. RME underlies the design of all context and learning activities. Design research is chosen as an appropriate means to achieve the goal; conducted in three stages, preliminary design, teaching experiments, and retrospective analysis. This study involved 6-8 prospective teacher students in the first cycle and 30-40 student prospective teachers in the second cycle housed in STKIP Garut. The results of this study can show that a series of RME learning activities can make prospective students no longer mistaken in understanding the topic of fractions in detail.

Abstract

AbstrakRendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar menjadi salah satu permasalahan yang ditemui saat belajar materi Aljabar. Banyak miskonsepsi yang ditemukan pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bentuk miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Cibatu kelas VII-H yang berjumlah sebanyak 32 siswa dengan 3 siswa dipilih secara purposive sampling untuk dijadikan partisipan pilihan. Teknik analisis data secara deskriptif melihat hasil jawaban siswa, hasil wawancara, serta dokumentasi menggunakan model Miles and Huberman, sehingga triangulasi data terpenuhi. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukan beberapa miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada materi operasi hitung bentuk aljabar yang dikategorikan dalam empat jenis, diantaranya miskonsepsi generalisasi, miskonsepi notasi, miskonsepsi pengartian huruf dan misonsepsi aplikasi aturan. Diketahuinya keempat miskonsepsi ini diharapkan guru-guru dapat lebih waspada saat mengajar materi aljabar terhadap keempat miskonsepsi ini. Analysis of Middle School Students' Misconceptions on the Material of Calculating Operations in Algebraic Forms AbstractThe low ability of students to understand concepts in the algebraic arithmetic operation material is one of the problems encountered when learning algebra material. Many misconceptions are found in the arithmetic operation material in algebraic form. The purpose of this study was to determine the form of misconceptions experienced by students in the algebraic form of arithmetic operations. The research method used is qualitative. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Cibatu class VII-H, amounting to 32 students with 3 students selected by purposive sampling to be selected participants. The descriptive data analysis technique saw the results of students' answers, interviews, and documentation using the Miles and Huberman model so that data triangulation was fulfilled. From the results of the study, it was found that several misconceptions experienced by students in the algebraic arithmetic operation material were categorized into four types, including generalization misconceptions, notation misconceptions, letter interpreting misconceptions, and rule application misconceptions. Knowing these four misconceptions, it is hoped that teachers will be more vigilant when teaching algebraic material regarding these four misconceptions.
