Abstract

The purpose of this study are: (1) To determine the ability of understanding mathematical difference between students who had Auditory Intellectual Repetition learning model and Problem Based Learning model. This research is a quasi-experimental research, pretest-posttest Control Design. The population in this study were all students of VII class SMP Negeri 1 Cisurupan by taking a sample of two classes of VII-A class as an experimental 1st class and VII-B class as the experimental 2nd class. The research instrument used is to test the ability of mathematical understanding. Based on the research, we found that: There were differences in the ability of mathematical understanding among students who earn AIR learning model and PBL model.

Abstract

Many recent studies found that students tended to have difficulty in grasping the concept of the operation of decimal numbers, especially on addition. In order to overcome all the difficulties, this study presents a sequence of classroom activities constructing the understanding of decimals addition. Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) underlies the design of the context and the activities. Design research was chosen as an appropriate means to achieve the aim. It will be conducted in three phases, preliminary design, teaching experiment (first and second cycle), and retrospective analysis. This study involves 6 students (first cycle) and 34 students (second cycle); 4 students. The result of this study can show that a sequence of activities can bring students’ learning from the contextual situation to more formal situation. Students did not think about integer number system when doing decimal number problem. They could do every contextual problem with their reasoning. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) abilities of students in the Teaching Practice Program (PPL) of the Mathematics Education Study Program at the State University of Makassar, specifically in integrating content knowledge, pedagogy, and technology in teaching practices. The study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive design to describe the level of TPACK mastery among the students. Data were collected from 30 students through a questionnaire designed to measure the three main aspects of TPACK: content knowledge (CK), pedagogical knowledge (PK), and technological knowledge (TK), as well as the students' ability to combine these three aspects in planning and implementing mathematics teaching. The results show that the students in the PPL Program of the PPG Study Program demonstrated good TPACK knowledge, as indicated by scores where 53% of students were in the high category and 47% in the medium category.

Abstract

Rendahnya pemahaman konsep matematis menyebabkan siswa kesulitan memahami materi abstrak seperti persamaan garis lurus. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektivitas GeoGebra sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep tersebut. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen (one-shot case study) dengan sampel 30 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Kec. Bayongbong (purposive sampling). Data dikumpulkan melalui tes uraian dan observasi aktivitas siswa, kemudian dianalisis secara statistik deskriptif dan inferensial (uji-z). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa GeoGebra tidak efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis. Temuan ini menyiratkan perlunya integrasi GeoGebra dengan metode lain, seperti scaffolding guru atau pembelajaran berbasis masalah. The limited comprehension of mathematical concepts by students hinders their ability to grasp abstract material, such as linear equations. The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy of GeoGebra as a learning medium to enhance comprehension of the concept. The method employed was an experiment (one-shot case study) with a sample of 30 students in class VIII at SMP Kec. Bayongbong (purposive sampling). The data were collected through the implementation of descriptive tests and student activity observations. Subsequent to the collection of the aforementioned data, the data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially (z-test). The findings indicated that GeoGebra did not demonstrate efficacy in enhancing mathematical concept comprehension. This finding suggests the necessity for GeoGebra integration with alternative methods, such as teacher scaffolding or problem-based learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi self-confidence siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika, sebagai faktor afektif yang memengaruhi partisipasi, motivasi, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Sebagian besar penelitian sebelumnya menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, sehingga belum banyak mengungkap bagaimana self-confidence tercermin dalam perilaku nyata di kelas. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, data dikumpulkan dari 32 siswa kelas VIII di salah satu SMP negeri di Garut melalui angket skala sikap dan wawancara semi-terstruktur. Empat indikator yang dikaji yaitu keyakinan terhadap kemampuan diri, kemandirian, konsep diri positif, dan keberanian mengemukakan pendapat. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa self-confidence siswa tergolong kuat (71%), dengan skor tertinggi pada konsep diri positif (77%) dan terendah pada kemandirian (66%). Namun, wawancara menunjukkan bahwa siswa masih ragu dalam mengungkapkan pendapat dan mengambil keputusan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan lingkungan kelas yang suportif agar siswa dapat mengekspresikan kepercayaan dirinya secara konsisten. This study examines junior high school students’ self-confidence in mathematics learning, a key affective factor influencing their participation, motivation, and problem-solving abilities. Most previous studies have used quantitative methods, leaving a gap in understanding how self-confidence manifests in real classroom behaviour. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected from 32 eighth-grade students at a public school in Garut, Indonesia, through attitude scale questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. Four indicators were examined: belief in one’s abilities, independence, positive self-concept, and courage to express opinions. Results showed students’ self-confidence was generally strong (71%), with the highest score in positive self-concept (77%) and the lowest in independence (66%). However, interviews revealed that students often hesitated to express their opinions and make decisions. These findings suggest a gap between self-perception and behaviour. The study recommends creating supportive classroom environments to help students consistently demonstrate their confidence.

Abstract

Implementing PMRI in teaching process using a little sheet box and straw as a media for helping students in learning commutative and associative properties in integer numbers is the aim of this study. Design research is used as appropriate means to achieve the aim; conducted in three phases: preliminary design, teaching experiment (first and second cycle), and retrospective analysis. This study enables students to work with contextual situations within integer numbers of properties; uses media tool (a straw and little sheet box). Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) underlies the design of the context and the activities. Sample of population is students from Madrasah Ibtidaiah Negeri 1 Palembang. This study involves fourth grade students, 3 students in first cycle and 36 students in second cycle (4 students were analyzed in detail). The result of this study could show that the activities could bring students’ learning from the contextual situation to more formal situation. The activities within this study have been succeeded to be implemented in this school so that these activities could be used for the others.

Abstract

One of the mathematical abilities that need to be owned by junior school students is a problem-solving ability. By having the ability of problem solving, the students can be a good problem solver in every field that they do later. In fact, there are many junior high school students who have not achieved a good mathematical problem solving, especially in SPLDV topic. This research aims to improve students' problem-solving ability through the application of Pembelajaran Pelangi Matematika model in SPLDV topic. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive analysis method, any giving of the treatment was observed through observation sheets of student activity and observation sheet of teacher activities. To know the result of the given treatment, performed the final test and questionnaire. The results obtained from this study are the application of PPM models are able to bring students into the learning situation more meaningful and enjoyable in the process of classroom learning. The strategy of grouping students homogeneously brings independence and confidence of students to solve problems encountered. The steps used by PPM model make students did not feel depressed and even tend to be enthusiastic during the learning process takes place. Enhancing mathematical problem-solving ability of students at the high category and the students have a positive attitude towards the implementation of PPM model. The conclusion from this study is that the application of PPM models can enhance mathematical problem-solving ability of students, especially in the SPLDV topic.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berisi tentang analisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Alasan dari kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang diambil berawal dari tujuan pembelajaran yang tercantum dalam Permendiknas Nomor 22 Tahun 2006, didalamnya tercantum pentingnya variabel kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis ini untuk dimiliki setiap siswa. Alasan penelitian ini lebih dikuatkan lagi dengan hasil kurang baik diperoleh perwakilan siswa Indonesia pada level tertentu di TIMSS dan PISA. Dari beberapa alasan ini, peneliti memutuskan untuk memilih kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sebagai variabel yang perlu ditingkatkan. Untuk variabel bebasnya, sebagai solusi yang peneliti tawarkan adalah model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry. Kedua model pembelajaran ini dipercaya dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Hal ini terlihat dari penelitian relevan yang saling berkaitan erat antara model pembelajaran dan kemampuannya. Penelitian dianalisis dengan kuasi eksperimen dengan desain eksperimen (pre-test post-test control group design). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu dengan pemberian tes uraian. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP di Garut dengan sampel yang diambil adalah dua kelas pada salah satu SMP Negeri di Tarogong Kidul Garut, yaitu kelas eksperimen 1 dan kelas eksperimen 2. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: (1)Tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dengan Inquiry; (2)Peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry tergolong tinggi; dan (3) Sikap siswa terhadap pelajaran matematika yang mendapatkan pembelajaran Problem Based Learning dan Inquiry berinterpretasi baik. This study is about the analysis of students' mathematical problem solving. Reasons of mathematical problem solving was taken begins with learning objectives stated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 22 of 2006, in which the importance of students to have mathematical problem solving listed. The reason of this research was strengthened further with bad results obtained by the representative of Indonesian students at a particular level in TIMSS and PISA. Consequently, researchers decided to choose mathematical problem-solving as a variable that needed to be improved. For the independent variables, as solutions that offer researchers are Problem Based Learning and Inquiry learning model. Both learning model was believed to increase the ability of students' mathematical problem solving. There were evident from the relevant research closely interrelated between learning models and abilities. The study analyzed with quasi-experiments with experimental design (pre-test post-test control group design). Data collection techniques used by giving test description. The populations in this study are all junior high school students in Garut with samples taken were two classes in one of the Junior High School in Tarogong South Garut, namely the experimental class 1 and class 2. The experimental results showed that: (1) There is no difference in mathematical problem solving among the students who get Problem Based Learning or Inquiry; (2) The increase in mathematical problem solving of students who get Problem Based Learning and Inquiry is high; and (3) The attitude of students toward Problem Based Learning and Inquiry interprets well.

Abstract

Berdasarkan penelitian-penelitian yang telah dilakukan di Indonesia, khususnya di bidang pendidikan matematika, penelitian kualitatif masih kurang diminati. Hal ini menjadi salah satu dasar permasalahan yang ingin peneliti bahas yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan minat para peneliti dalam melakukan penelitian kualitatif dengan tujuan setelah para peneliti melihat penelitian ini, minat dari para peneliti muncul untuk melakukan penelitian kualitatif. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti memperkenalkan salah satu software analisis data kualitatif dengan nama ATLAS.ti. Software ini berguna dalam membantu proses analisis data jenis penelitian kualitatif grounded theory, dalam pengolahan datanya setiap data diberi coding sehingga memudahkan peneliti nantinya untuk memanggil kembali data tersebut sebagai bahan diskusi dalam penelitiannya. Melalui penelitian ini, peneliti memiliki harapan agar muncul prosedur proses analisis data kualitatif berbantuan ATLAS.ti, melalui contoh penerapan pada salah satu kasus di bidang pendidikan matematika. Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa prosedur versi peneliti berdasarkan kasus yang peneliti gunakan. According to some Indonesian research, especially in mathematics education, qualitative research is still less interested. It became one of basic problem that the researcher wants to discuss. Hoping after all researchers read this study, the interest of them appeared to do qualitative research. In this study, researcher introduced one of data analysis qualitative software, namely ATLAS.ti. This software was useful in helping with the process of data analysis qualitative research, especially grounded theory. Grounded theory, as ATLAS.ti, was given coding in any research data. It would be making easier for researchers to call back data later, or so on. Based on this helpful thing, researcher hoped through this research it would create a procedure data analysis qualitative research assisted by ATLAS.ti. This procedure appeared through an example of an application of one case in the field of mathematics education. The result of this research was a procedure based on the case of researcher used.

Abstract

Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan dua kelas, yaitu kelas kuasi eksperimen I dan kelas kuasi eksperimen II. Populasinya adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 5 Garut tahun ajaran 2014/2015, sedangkan sampelnya yaitu kelas VII-H sebagai kelompok kuasi eksperimen I yang mendapatkan pembelajaran kancing gemerincing dan kelas VII-F sebagai kelompok kuasi eksperimen II yang mendapatkan pembelajaran NHT dengan pengambilan sampel secara purposive, yaitu pengambilan sampel dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan angket siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa: (1) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa antara yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran kooperatif teknik Numbered Head Together (NHT) dengan kancing gemerincing, (2) Kualitas peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas kuasi eksperimen I dengan teknik pembelajaran kancing gemerincing adalah sedang, (3) Kualitas peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas kuasi eksperimen II dengan teknik pembelajaran NHT adalah sedang, (4) Siswa bersikap positif terhadap teknik pembelajaran kancing gemerincing, (5) Siswa bersikap positif terhadap teknik pembelajaran NHT namun di sisi lainmereka bersikap negatif terhadap penyediaan LKS. The method that used of this research is quasi experiment make use of two classes, quasi experiment I and quasi experiment II. The population is all of seventh grade students at SMPN 5 Garut period 2014/2015, and the sample is H-seventh grade as quasi experiment I who get kancing gemerincing learning and F-seventh grade as quasi experiment II who get NHT learning with purposive sampling. The purposive sampling is sampling based on certain considerations. The instrument of this research is mathematical understanding skill test and questionnaire. Based on the result of research, known that: (1) found the difference increased of mathematical understanding skill students between who get strategy cooperative learning technique Numbered Head Together (NHT) and kancing gemerincing, (2) the increased quality of mathematical understanding skill quasi experiment I students with technique kancing gemerincing is enough, (3) the increased quality of mathematical understanding skill quasi experiment II students with technique NHT is enough, (5) the student were give their positive attitude to technique kancing gemerincing, (5) the student were give their positive attitude to technique NHT, but they were give their negative attitude to equipping of LKS.
