Abstract

One of the problems faced by society is the still high rate of illiteracy. Therefore, it is necessary to take steps to eradicate illiteracy. SPNF-SKB Kab. Majene, in collaboration with Rutan Kelas IIB Majene, is implementing a literacy program to improve the reading, writing and counting skills of the inmates of the Rutan Kelas IIB Majene. This program was attended by 12 inmates for approximately 6 months and was carried out once every week. This program consists of four main stages, namely: observation of service locations, preparation of service equipment, implementation of service, and evaluation of service activities. As a result of service activities through the literacy program, there was a significant increase in the reading, writing and counting abilities of the inmates. 8 people were deemed no longer necessary to take part in a literacy program and were recommended to take part in another program at a higher level.

Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence, particularly ChatGPT, has begun to influence mathematics learning in classrooms. This technology is not only used as a learning support tool but also affects how teachers teach and how students understand mathematical concepts.  This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of ChatGPT in mathematics learning, its benefits and challenges, and the potential for technology dependence based on mathematics teachers’ perspectives. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The data analysis technique used the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) method through the stages of identification, screening, eligibility, and article inclusion. Articles were collected from ScienceDirect, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, Publish or Perish, and ResearchGate. Based on the selection process, 27 articles were analyzed thematically according to the research focus. The findings indicate that mathematics teachers perceive ChatGPT as effective in supporting more flexible, interactive, and adaptive learning based on students’ needs. ChatGPT also supports personalized learning through adjusted explanations and learning pace. However, its use also presents challenges related to information accuracy, teachers’ readiness, and supervision of AI use. In addition, the ease of obtaining instant answers may increase technology dependence and reduce students’ engagement in mathematical thinking during the learning process.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy is a fundamental cognitive competency that enables students to analyze mathematical situations and communicate their reasoning effectively. Although numerous studies have investigated mathematical literacy, research that specifically examines students’ performance on HOTS-type mathematical tasks from a gender perspective remains scarce. This study aims to describe students’ mathematical literacy skills in solving HOTS problems based on gender differences. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the study involved 35 students from class XII IPA 1, consisting of 7 males and 28 females. Data were collected through tests and semi-structured interviews, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings indicate that in analyzing-type HOTS items (C4), male students generally met only the communication indicator, with one male student demonstrating mastery of all indicators. Conversely, female students consistently fulfilled all mathematical literacy indicators. A similar pattern emerged in evaluating-type HOTS items (C5), where most male students achieved only the communication indicator, while female students met all indicators. In creating-type HOTS items (C6), both male and female students demonstrated achievement solely on the communication indicator.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the project-based learning model with the Mandar local cultural approach on students' mathematics learning outcomes in class VIII of SMP Negeri 07 Campalagian, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi. This study is a study with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII of SMP Negeri 07 Campalagian. The sampling technique used was the saturated sampling technique which is a sampling technique in which all members of the population can be used as samples. Research data were collected using a learning outcome test consisting of a Pretest and Posttest, as well as an observation sheet consisting of a sheet of learning implementation by the teacher and student activities. The results of data analysis show that students' mathematics learning outcomes after the application of project-based learning with the Mandar local cultural approach are in the high category with skor 80.21 so it can be concluded that there is an increase in the learning outcomes of students taught using the Project Based Learning model with the Mandar Local Cultural approach.
