Abstract

Corrosion frequently affects steel. Although it is an unavoidable natural process, its progression can be managed and its rate reduced. One strategy for mitigating corrosion is the use of corrosion inhibitors. Inhibitors derived from organic sources are widely employed because of their high inhibition efficiency. Sap extract from Merkubung (Macaranga gigantea) can function as a corrosion inhibitor due to the presence of secondary metabolites such as tannins. Tannins are promising corrosion inhibitors since their –OH groups enable them to form complexes with metal surfaces. This study evaluates the performance of a nanoemulsion containing Merkubung sap extract as a steel corrosion inhibitor. The methodology includes extraction, nanoemulsion formulation, and assessment of corrosion rate and inhibition efficiency at various concentrations and temperatures. In this work, nanoemulsion‑based inhibitors were applied to improve corrosion protection of steel. The nanoemulsion demonstrated the lowest corrosion rate (0.902 mg cm⁻² h⁻¹) and the highest inhibition efficiency (66.05 %) at 500 ppm and 30 °C. These results show that the nanoemulsion enhances inhibition performance, making it an effective corrosion inhibitor.

Abstract

Pada era Industri 4.0 teknologi berkembang begitu pesat, menghadirkan banyak perubahan termasuk pada sektor pendidikan. Strategi pembelajaran bergeser menjadi berorientasi kepada Higher Order Thinking Skills. Peran media pembelajaran digital menjadi kian esensial. Kehadirannya membantu peserta didik memahami pelajaran kapan dan dimana saja. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan yaitu dihasilkannya media mobile learning berorientasi HOTS yang tervalidasi dan dapat digunakan secara efektif dalam pembelajaran kimia pada kelas XI SMA. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Research and Development), mengadaptasi model pengembangan Lee and Owens. Produk dibuat menggunakan website MIT App Inventor. Validasi oleh ahli materi dan ahli media mendapatkan hasil yang sangat baik, begitupun dengan penilaian guru kimia juga memperoleh kategori sangat baik. Subjek penelitian yakni peserta didik dari SMA Adhyaksa 1 Jambi kelas XI MIPA 2. Respon peserta didik skala kecil memperoleh persentase kelayakan sebesar 85% terkategori sangat baik dan pada skala besar yakni 89% terkategori sangat baik. Hasil paired t-test menerangkan bahwa hasil belajar kimia peserta didik sebelum menggunakan media mobile learning ChemFun berorientasi HOTS berbeda secara signifikan dengan hasil belajar ketika telah menggunakan media.

Abstract

Synthesis of dimerkaptosilica coated magnetite was carried out in several stages, namely synthesis of magnetite from FeCl3.6H2O and FeSO4.7H2O by coprecipitation method. Extraction of sodium silicate from rice husk ash as a source of silica. Coating magnetite by dimerkaptosilica using 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanol as a source of mercapto groups and sodium silicate as sources of silica. Coating is done by the sol-gel method. FTIR characterization showed the appearance of uptake at wave numbers 894,04 cm-1, 2951,22 cm-1 and 3655,26 cm-1 from several absorbances which also appeared in magnetite material spectra indicating ―SH, ―CH2 and ―OH groups. XRD characterization was characterized by the appearance of a peak at 2θ, which was 35,43° and SEM characterization showed that the material Fe3O4―DMS had a morphological shape in the form of round clumps forming gray-colored aggregates.
