Abstract

In the seas of Lampung, a kind of brown macroalgae known as Padina australis is commonly seen.. Padina australis is widely used in the food industry as a gelling agent, emulsifier, thickener, stabilizer and also in the medical industry. The content of phytochemical compounds that can be developed as phytopharmaceutical agents is one of them as antioxidants. The aim of this study was to analyze the phytochemical content and potential antioxidant activity of the macroalgae Padina australis. The method used was extraction by maceration in 70% ethanol as a solvent. The phytochemical test was performed qualitatively by a color reagent test. The FTIR test was performed to analyze the functional groups of the active ingredients, while the antioxidant test used the DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazil) method. The results obtained show that the ethanol extract of Padina australis contains chemical compounds such as saponins, steroids, tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids. Padina australis extract shows its potential as an alternative source of natural antioxidant compounds because it is able to reduce free radicals with an IC50 value of 407.96 ppm, which is classified as very weak antioxidant activity. Further research needs to be done to obtain other concentration doses so as to get the best antioxidant activity results that can be developed clinically for health products.

Abstract

Background: The liver is the largest metabolic organ and plays an important role in the body. Nutritional fulfilment is one factor in maintaining liver health. Liver function can be evaluated by measuring the levels of SGPT and SGOT enzymes in the blood. Soybean juice and zinc can support liver health by keeping SGPT and SGOT enzyme levels normal. Methods: This study was conducted between October and December 2024 at the Zoology Laboratory of the University of Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) included four treatment groups. Each treatment included five mice: control (K), treatment 1 (P1)- induced Soybean juice 0,6 mL/kg body weight (P2) induced Soybean 0,3 mL/kg body weight and Zinc 0,3 mL/kg body weight, and (P3) induced Soybean 0,6 mL/kg body weight and Zinc 0,6 mL/kg body weight for 14 days. Normal and homogeneous data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine whether the treatment's effect was significant. Differences were considered statistically significant at p < 0.05. Duncan's multiple interval post hoc test (=5%) was used to identify the most effective treatment. Result: Based on the results of the one-way ANOVA test with a 95% confidence interval, the average SGPT and SGOT levels in the K, P1, P2, and P3 treatments differ significantly. The average SGPT levels above show that the P2 and P3 groups experienced a significant decrease compared to the K and P1 treatments. Conclusion: Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that administering soya juice and zinc at an optimum dose of 1.2 mL/kg body weight can affect and maintain normal SGPT and SGOT levels.

Abstract

The government has issued a policy on the standard size of blue swimming crabs caught to support fisheries management, but it is difficult for business actors to comply with. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Regulation of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries No. 7 of 2024 concerning Blue swimming crab Management on the East Coast of Lampung. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, with in-depth interviews, participatory observations, focus group discussions, and documentation studies. The analysis of policy implementation examines fishermen's compliance with the blue swimming crab size standards set by the government. The results of the study show that the cause of the difficulty in implementing the blue swimming crab size provisions is the limited supervision and the lack of sanctions for violations. The orientation of fishermen's behavior still focuses on profits and the limitations of fishing technology that are not selective and destructive. The government must involve all business actors in the trading chain of blue swimming crab commodities to unify perceptions and increase fishermen's understanding of sustainable fisheries management policies on the East Coast of Lampung.
