Abstract

This research aims to investigate the relationship between mental health and motivation climate among coaches, considering gender differences. Although sports psychology among coaches is increasingly recognized as an essential element in athlete performance, research examining mental health and motivation climate among coaches remains limited. The study was conducted by administering questionnaires to 40 sports coaches, comprising 20 male coaches and 20 female coaches, active in various sports disciplines. The questionnaire was designed to assess the level of mental health and coaches' perceptions of the motivation climate created within the training environment. Statistical analysis results indicate that there is no significant correlation between mental health and the motivation climate created by coaches, both for male and female coaches. However, an interesting finding is that coaches' mental health has a greater influence on their performance than motivation climate. The implications of this research highlight the need for greater attention to coaches' mental health in efforts to enhance their performance. A better training environment can be created by considering coaches' mental well-being, which in turn will positively impact the motivation and performance of the athletes they coach. Additionally, this research also contributes to the literature on sports psychology, particularly in the context of sports coaching. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that coaches' mental health plays a crucial role in their success in coaching athletes, while the motivation climate created by them may not have the same significant impact. A better understanding of these dynamics can assist in the development of more effective strategies and programs to enhance coaches' well-being and the performance of the athletes they coach.

Abstract

Achieving peak athletic performance in sports requires a combination of physical prowess and psychological factors, including self-efficacy and self-motivation. This study investigate these variables among professional female futsal athletes in Indonesia, examining their interrelationship and the influence of team goals and backgrounds. The sample consists of 28 players each from Muara Enim United, targeting league victory, and Alive FC, a newly promoted team focused on avoiding relegation. Data collection utilized the the Athlete Self-Efficacy Scale (ASES) and Self-Motivation Scale II (SMS-II), administered during pre-season training via online surveys. Descriptive statistics reveal higher mean scores for self-efficacy and self-motivation in Muara Enim United compared to Alive FC, supporting the hypothesis that team objectives impact these psychological attributes. However, correlation analysis indicates no significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-motivation within either team, contrary to initial expectations. This underscores the complexity of motivational dynamics in sports, influenced by multifaceted factors beyond individual psychological traits. The findings suggest that while self-efficacy and self-motivation play pivotal roles in sports performance, their relationship may vary across different competitive contexts and team environments. This study contributes to the understanding of athlete motivation in professional sports and highlights the need for tailored psychological interventions to explore additional variables and contexts that may influence the interplay between self-efficacy, self-motivation, and athletic achievements in diverse sporting disciplines.

Abstract

Futsal's popularity is growing, with over 12 million registered players globally, including a rising number of female players. Despite its growth, futsal poses significant injury risks, especially to the lower extremities, which can impact athletes' performance and self-efficacy. This study aims to explore the effect between the knee Q-angle intervention on self-efficacy in professional female futsal players. This observational and correlational study involved 11 athletes from the professional futsal club Muara Enim United in Indonesia. The procedure of this study participants trained regularly for at least 2 hours per week and were excluded if injured or had prior lower extremity surgery. The study measured Q-angles and self-efficacy using the Athlete Self-Efficacy Scale before and after league matches over 14 days. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-tests to assess changes in self-efficacy. Normality tests confirmed that pretest and posttest data were normally distributed. Descriptive statistics indicated a mean pretest score of 43.33 and a posttest score of 36.31. Paired sample t-tests revealed a significant decrease in self-efficacy post-intervention (p=0.017). The significant reduction in posttest scores suggests the intervention was less effective in enhancing self-efficacy. This decline highlights the need for improved intervention strategies to bolster self-efficacy in female futsal athletes. Self-efficacy is crucial for performance and injury management, as it influences motivation, stress management, and persistence in athletes. This study underscores the necessity for rigorous evaluation of interventions aimed at improving self-efficacy among professional female futsal players. Understanding the relationship between the knee Q-angle and self-efficacy can inform the development of better training and injury prevention programs, ultimately enhancing athletes' well-being and performance. Future research should address external variables and use larger sample sizes to validate these findings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out whether futsal can help female football players become better at making decisions in the game.  This study used a survey to find out the opinions of players and coaches about the function of futsal.  Questionnaires were the research tools used to measure the perceptions of players and coaches.  The purposive sampling method was used to select the sample.  The survey results show that most futsal players and coaches agree that playing futsal helps them make decisions in football game situations. They also said that most futsal players and coaches believe that playing futsal helps them make decisions.  This research is expected to help female football players make better decisions. Therefore, it is recommended to female football players to increase the portion of training by playing futsal, while coaches can incorporate futsal into the training programme as an alternative to small sided games (SSG) to develop players' playing and decision-making skills.
