Abstract

Introduction: The global economy is affected by Indonesian migrant workers' destinations in Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Poor housing and cleanliness make it hard for Indonesian workers, especially cleaning service workers, to stay healthy. Employees in the cleaning service business may not understand how to manage their health or navigate the healthcare system due to health literacy issues. Indonesian workers in Malaysia are assessed for workplace health literacy and empowerment. Addressing these issues and improving health literacy can enhance public health, eliminate health inequities, and empower people to make health decisions. Methods: The cross-sectional accidental sampling study involves 23 Indonesian workers from a prominent Malaysian university. All Indonesian workers were given a full explanation of the 15-question healthy living questionnaire. Results: 47.9% of migrant workers had sufficient knowledge, 39.1% had poor knowledge, and 13% had good knowledge. Conclusion: Poor personal hygiene affects Indonesian workers in Malaysia, focusing on workplace health knowledge and empowerment. It stresses health literacy, especially for the poor. To improve public health, reduce health inequities, and empower people to make health decisions, these concerns and health literacy initiatives are crucial.

Abstract

Sports sociology, particularly in the context of inclusive sports, has become an important field in understanding social dynamics in an increasingly diverse modern society. Inclusive sports aim to accommodate various groups with different characteristics, such as people with disabilities, gender minorities, and specific age groups. This article uses bibliometric analysis to explore the development of research on sports sociology in inclusive sports. Through literature mapping obtained from the Scopus database, this research shows a significant increase in publications related to inclusive sports between 2013 and 2023, analyzing data from 794 articles published in various scientific journals. The analysis results reveal the dominance of topics related to "disability," "paralympic," and "inclusion" in the literature, highlighting efforts to enhance equal access and opportunities for people with disabilities in sports. This research also identifies leading authors and countries that have made significant contributions to the development of theory and practice in inclusive sports, as well as demonstrating the importance of international collaboration in expanding understanding of this issue. However, there are limitations in this research as it only uses data from Scopus, which may overlook literature from other sources, including research in developing countries. This research provides an overview of important trends and developments in inclusive sports sociology and opens opportunities for further research that is more inclusive.

Abstract

Leadership in sports coaching plays a crucial role in enhancing athlete performance and team well-being. This study aims to identify key themes in sports coaching leadership usingbibliometric analysis supported by VOSviewer software. The analysis results reveal eight main clusters, including athlete leadership, motivational climate, team cohesion, and athletes' mentalhealth. Each cluster highlights the strong relationship between coaching leadership styles and athletes' experiences and performance. Leadership styles such as transformational leadership and servant leadership have been found to contribute positively to athletes' motivation, satisfaction, and mental well-being, whereas unsupportive approaches are oftenassociated with burnout. Additionally, the bibliometric analysis identifies the significant contributions of leading authors and countries such as the United Kingdom and the United States inthis research field. This study emphasizes the importance of a holistic leadership approach that focuses not only on technical strategies but also on athletes' psychological well-being to achieve optimal performance.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the factors influencing the sexual orientation of lesbian female football players in West Java and its implications for their personal and professional lives. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire covering three main categories: background, reasons for attraction, and future expectations. The sample consisted of 37 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The analysis revealed that the environment was the dominant factor influencing players' sexual orientation, with the highest average score of 3.38. The nature of football, which fosters close interaction among female players, was the primary reason for attraction (average 2.6). However, respondents also faced challenges related to insecurity in openly expressing their sexual identity in the football environment (average 1.78). Future expectations indicated a tendency to conform to social norms, such as marrying a male partner for societal acceptance and a more stable life (average 3.49), while support for the legalization of same-sex marriage was low (average 1.46–1.68). Simple regression analysis showed a significant influence between background and reasons for attraction (p < 0.05), whereas Pearson correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between reasons for attraction and future expectations (r = 0.350). This study highlights the need for an inclusive sports environment to reduce stigma and discrimination against players with diverse sexual orientations.

Abstract

The post-pandemic era has transformed athletes’ training habits, with social media emerging as a vital medium that supports independent training among student athletes. Despite its growing use, limited studies have examined its post-pandemic impact. This study aims to explore how social media contributes to athletes’ motivation, consistency, and independence in training when traditional facilities have resumed. Method: Using a qualitative design, eight student athletes were purposively selected. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model to identify key themes. Findings reveal that social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube serve as alternative learning spaces for technical, physical, and mental training. They enhance flexibility, motivation, and engagement. Social media significantly supports self-directed learning and motivation, complementing conventional training methods while fostering independence, discipline, and innovation among student athletes in the post-COVID-19 context .

Abstract

Research and publications on positive youth development through sport instruction have been widely conducted in various countries. However, this trend does not always reflect the existing conditions. In fact, positive youth development through sport has a significant positive impact on the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the visualization metrics of publications on positive youth development through sport over the past ten years (2013-2023) using the literature review method. Examination using Scopus through the Publish or Perish (PoP) application found only twelve articles (out of a total of 74 articles) that met the VOSviewer visualization analysis criteria. The results of the study showed that the highest publications occurred in 2021 with 56 citations, and in 2018 with 55 citations from two articles each year. VOSviewer visualization confirms that positive youth development through sport instruction has great potential to be further developed with other terms, so that it can more effectively meet the needs of the younger generation. This study presents the results of computational bibliometric mapping of data published in research articles. Future research could consider broader aspects of PYD teaching and link it to other terms to enhance the various aspects that support positive adolescent development.
