Abstract

Bali cattle (Bos javanicus d’Alton) is a part of the complex evolution of all cattle over a longtime in Indonesia. Little is known of the origin of bali cattle in Southeast Asia.  The geographicaldistribution of Bos (Bibos) types of cattle suggests that the centre of domestication was Indo-China and Malaysia, then spreading to Bali. Due to such several unique characters of bali cattle, someefforts have been conducting with main purpose to conserve purebred, draught as well as meat typecattle on Bali in particular and Indonesia in general. Method has been employed in this study areliterature explore, visiting, interview with questionnaire sheet. Set of efforts have been conductingin order to conserve purebred bali cattle by the government. For examples, establishment of balicattle Breeding centre of Pulukan village, establishment of bali cattle Breeding centre of Sobanganvillage, establishment of bali cattle Conservation centre of Nusa Penida Island,  essense of UdayanaUniversity, Bali and role of Department of Animal Husbandry. It could be concluded thatgovernment as a whole have played an important role in conserving the purebred bali cattle asdraught and meat type cattle at certain suitable places in Bali to fulfill local and national daily meatrequirement by establishing good collaboration with related government agency as well as farmers.

Abstract

Aspergillus flavus contamination of agriculture in Indonesia can cause problems to animal health and productivity. Some factors can support the appearance of contamination in feed, especially temperature and humidity. The main objective of this research was to investigate potency of Rhizopus spp. on inhibit A. flavus FNCC6109 in broiler chicken concentrate feed. The experiments were conducted dual culture method and the inhibition test of the Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture was incubated for 3, 4 and 5 days on in vitro. The in vivo test was directly applied in broiler chicken concentrate feed which added Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture concentration at 10% (v/v), 20% (v/v), 30% (v/v), 40% (v/v), dan 50% (v/v). The results showed that the Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture significantly (P?0,05) to inhibit the growth of A. flavus FNCC6109 both in vitro and in vivo. The percentage inhibition of Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture incubated for 5 days showed 67,47±2,10% relatively better results than 3 and 4 days, and therefore was used in the in vivo. Application of 50% (v/v) Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture to the broiler chicken concentrate feed significantly reduced 82% population of A. flavus FNCC6109 after 15 days incubated relative to that of negative control (concentrate feed without addition Rhizopus spp. filtrate culture and A. flavus FNCC6109).

Abstract

Research on isolation and identification of lipid degrading bacteria in some sewage disposing sites and Denpasar Estuary Dam was carried out in April, 2006. This research aims to identify fat degrading bacteria on those areas.Isolation of bacteria was undertaken using thinning methods (platting methods) grown at sierra media. Colonies observed on the media after incubation on the temperature of 30-370C for 24 hours were identified based on macroscopic observations, biochemical tests, microscopic and cross tests to ensure that the bacteria identified was absolutely lipid degrading bacteria. The research result showed that number of lipid degrading bacteria isolates obtained from three sampling sites were 7 isolates. Four isolates were obtained from samples taken on BTDC Lagoons, the samples of which contains Bacillus sp. (A). Bacillus sp. (B), Klebsiella sp. and Staphylococcus sp., 2 isolates were gotten from samples found in estuary DAM with bacteria of Bacillus sp. (A) and Klebsiella sp. and 1 isolate was gotten from slaughterhouse waste disposal with Klebsiella sp. bacteria. Cross test results carried out on the seven isolates showed that two genera of bacteria only, namely: Bacillus sp. and Pseudomonas sp., which were viable after inoculation and 24 hours of incubation time.

Abstract

The radioactive element content and E.coli bacterial contaminants has been done testing in river water downstream of Badung River, Village Pemogan. The testing of elements content in the samples using AAS instrument (Atomic Absorption Sphectrometer) Analytical Laboratory Udayana University. The elements contained in the river water downstream of Badung River, Village Pemogan including Co, Cu, Pb, and Cd. The pollution in Badung river water to the elements thought due to the disposal of waste production by the textile dye industry was around the River Badung, Pemogan village. The test pollutant content of E.coli bacteria using the MPN (Most Probable Number). The results of the test bacteria by MPN method showed the presence of E.coli bacteria contaminants in Badung river water with amounts ranging from 0 to >11,000 samples MPN/100ml. According to PP 82 in 2001, the content of E.coli bacteria in the water of the river is allowed a maximum in the range of 2000 MPN/100ml water. This suggests that the content of E.coli bacteria in river water downstream of Badung River, Village Pemogan has exceeded a predetermined threshold. Keywords : Radioactive Elements, E.coli, AAS (Atomic Absorption Sphectrometer), MPN (Most Probable Number)
