Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui minat pembelian kosmetika skincare pada remaja di Gunung Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah survei dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui angket terhadap remaja wanita. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor harga, kualitas produk, dan media sosial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap minat pembelian skincare. Nilai rata-rata indikator harga sebesar 4,09, kualitas produk 4,14, dan media sosial 3,88 yang semuanya berada pada kategori baik. Analisis reliabilitas instrumen menunjukkan nilai Cronbach’s Alpha sebesar 0,94 sehingga instrumen dinyatakan reliabel. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah minat pembelian skincare pada remaja di Gunung Medan dipengaruhi oleh harga yang terjangkau, kualitas produk yang baik, dan pengaruh media sosial yang cukup tinggi.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of long-term hijab use on women's hair health. Hair is considered an important part of one's appearance and is often seen as an indicator of physical well-being. The research began after a proposal seminar and was conducted at the Department of Beauty and Cosmetology at Padang State University.Based on existing literature, the use of the hijab can affect hair condition because it covers the head continuously, which may restrict air circulation and increase moisture on the scalp area. Previous studies have shown that women who wear the hijab for more than eight hours a day are at risk of experiencing hair problems such as hair loss, dandruff, and split ends. However, this research also notes that proper hair care can reduce these negative effects, so women who take good care of their hair tend to have healthier hair even while wearing the hijab.The focus of this study is on the general impact of hijab use on hair health, without considering the different hair types of the respondents. The results from observations and interviews emphasize the importance of selecting appropriate hair products to minimize the negative effects of hijab use, supporting the findings of previous studies.

Abstract

Indonesia, as a tropical country, faces a high risk from ultraviolet (UV) radiation that can damage skin and health. This study aims to evaluate the knowledge and behavior regarding sunscreen use among students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality. The method used is a survey with questionnaires distributed to respondents. Results indicate that although students are aware of the importance of using sunscreen, the usage rate remains low, and many do not choose safe products. These findings highlight the need for increased knowledge about proper sunscreen selection and the dangers of UV exposure. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of further education on correct sunscreen use, as well as the necessity for outreach activities to raise awareness about skin protection from sun exposure. Thus, it is hoped that adolescents can better maintain their skin health and reduce the risk of diseases caused by excessive UV exposure.

Abstract

The rise of digital media, particularly social media like Instagram, has transformed how beauty products are marketed and consumed. This research aims to investigate the influence of beauty tutorial video content on Instagram on the purchasing interest of cosmetic products among students in the Department of Beauty and Makeup Education at Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative methodology was employed, involving a sample of 31 respondents who completed a structured questionnaire. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between the video content and purchase interest, indicating that engaging tutorial content effectively drives students' interest in buying cosmetic products. This study contributes to understanding the impact of social media marketing on consumer behavior in the beauty industry and suggests that brands leverage such platforms to enhance consumer engagement and sales. The implication of this research is to assess the extent to which beauty tutorial content on Instagram influences the purchasing interest in facial cosmetics among students in the Department of Beauty and Makeup Education at Universitas Negeri Padang. Therefore, it aims to provide insight into how significantly beauty tutorial content on Instagram affects the purchasing interest in facial cosmetics among students in the Department of Beauty and Makeup Education at Universitas Negeri Padang.

Abstract

Censorship, a tool of cultural hegemony often employed by colonizers, was practiced by the Dutch colonials in the Dutch East Indies through the people's reading commission or Balai Pustaka, as evidenced in the Nota Rinkes, which prohibited literary works with subversive political content, religious sentiments, and immoral themes. This study explores the content of the novel Sitti Nurbaya, a prominent publication from Balai Pustaka, using a postcolonial approach and Gramsci's theory of cultural hegemony as analytical tools. The findings reveal that Sitti Nurbaya contains elements of progressive politics through the Belasting riots, intense religious sentiment in defense of Adat teachings, and characters with flawed morals. Consequently, it is concluded that Sitti Nurbaya managed to circumvent Balai Pustaka's censorship and functioned as an organic intellectual, sparking anti-colonial awareness.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve the skills of marginalized community members in Nagari Rao-Rao in beauty services, particularly in reflexology massage and traditional herbal medicine production, to increase their income. The implementation method involved training activities through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and mentoring in reflexology massage and the preparation of traditional herbal drinks using plants commonly grown around their homes, such as ginger, turmeric, aromatic ginger (kencur), temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza), and lemon. The evaluation instrument used questionnaires, and the data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the community service program showed that the marginalized community group in Nagari Rao-Rao: (1) mastered beauty service skills in the field of reflexology massage; (2) was able to produce traditional herbal products from plants available in their home gardens; and (3) developed motivation to start their own businesses as entrepreneurs to support community economic development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pengetahuan, perilaku penggunaan sunscreen, serta hubungan antara keduanya pada mahasiswa Tata Rias dan Kecantikan. Instrumen penelitian diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, dan seluruh item dinyatakan valid dengan reliabilitas pada kategori sedang hingga tinggi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan mahasiswa berada pada kategori baik dengan rata-rata persentase 81%, sedangkan perilaku penggunaan sunscreen berada pada kategori tinggi dengan rata-rata item antara 4,20–4,51. Namun, uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan hubungan yang sangat lemah dan tidak signifikan antara pengetahuan dan perilaku (r = 0,123; Sig. = 0,308). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa peningkatan pengetahuan tidak selalu diikuti oleh peningkatan perilaku, sehingga faktor lain seperti persepsi, kebiasaan, dan kontrol diri turut berpengaruh. Penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya edukasi praktis untuk meningkatkan perilaku perlindungan kulit.
