Information seeking behavior refers to patterns of human behavior related to the nature of information, both in terms of using and seeking information. The term "behavior" refers to how a person obtains information through his behavior. The Kulthau literature review method is used in this paper. According to Kulthau, information seeking behavior has several characteristics, including initiation, which is the initial stage where users are aware of their information needs, selection, where users begin to collect the information topics needed and then look for them through OPAC, browse directly to shelves or by asking users. At this point, the user is confused because he has to decide which information best suits his needs. formulation At this point, the user has determined which information best meets his needs. Users collect information that has been obtained and recorded in books, cellphones, or by taking pictures at this stage, and the last presentation is the user's feelings of satisfaction and dissatisfaction after getting information in the library. Information seeking behavior and information needs are carried out by everyone to fulfill the knowledge they want, including students. Before searching for information students must first know what information they need, such as making a list of information to be searched for, then after making a list of information to be sought, the behavior when searching for information is to start browsing or where to look for that information, after being sure of the source of the information being sought. then students must verify and sort out the information to be retrieved. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method to describe the characteristics of the cases studied. Sulistyo-Basuki (2006: 78) explains that qualitative research aims to obtain a complete picture of a matter from the point of view of the human being studied. In fulfilling the needs of different information, students will do any way to get the information according to their needs. To get the information that suits their needs, UINSU students don't just use one source of information to get the information they need. Advances in information technology also bring fundamental changes in meeting the information needs needed. One of these technologies is the internet, which is an unlimited source of information and can be accessed anytime and anywhere for 24 hours. While printed sources have limited access, namely the place and time and the novelty of the collection. This study aims to find out the information that students are looking for through internet services. The research method used is this research method is qualitative research. The results showed that most of the students taught themselves to search for information through the internet (64.29%), while the frequency of using the internet to search for information was often (70.83%) carried out by most of the students in the library, and in this study half of the respondents' answers stated that students only use the internet once (50%) in one visit to the library, and almost half of the respondents' answers stated that students use the internet during breaks (41.46%). The reason someone seeks and carries out the process of searching for informaltion can vary from one person to another. In general, students majoring in the Sociology of Relligion at the University of Indonesia seek informaltion in the library because to meet their information needs, namely in the form of assignments given by the leturer. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research approach. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the pattern of information-seeking behavior owned by each student of the Sociology of Religion UINSU is a starting, verifying, networking element, browsing, extracting, accessing, monitoring and managing information.Kelywords: analysis, behavior, information

This study aims to identify the information needs of users in the UISU library. This research is located at the Islamic University of North Sumatra (UISU) which is located on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Teladan Barat, Medan Kota District, Medan City, North Sumatra. The method to be used in this research is a qualitative research method which is described descriptively. The technique used in collecting qualitative data is using direct observation techniques. The results of this study concluded that the collections contained in the Library of the Islamic University of North Sumatra (UISU) were insufficient, but each faculty had its own library. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought many changes. Change is so fast that several changes have occurred in human activities. One of them is in the aspect of the world of education. At a time when the Covid-19 pandemic was declared increasingly dangerous, lectures that should have been conducted face-to-face had to be moved remotely or online. This was also experienced by the library science class in 2019. The purpose of this study was to identify differences in student information seeking behavior in meeting information needs before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method, and the research sample is students who experience changes in the learning process in online classes in 2019. This study aims to describe information seeking behavior through online video media by students of the Faculty of Letters, University of North Sumatra and the information needs of students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, University of North Sumatra with the Uses and Gratification Approach through online video media. This research uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive study type. The research data is in the form of analysis results regarding information seeking behavior through online video media and information needs with the Uses and Gratification approach through online video media. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and interviews. Instruments used to collect data using questionnaires and structured interviews. Based on the research results, it is concluded as follows. First, students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology are able to search for information through online video media with coherent stages, namely starting, chaining, browsing, monitoring, differentiating and extracting. Second, students are able to meet information needs with the Uses and Gratification approach starting from cognitive needs, affective needs, personal integration needs, social integration needs and escape needs. A good library service is one that can meet the needs, tastes, interests and desires of users. So, through library services, users can obtain the information they need optimally and take advantage of the various search tools available. This research uses a type of qualitative research that requires as much information and data as possible to achieve the research objectives. This type of research is a case study because this research is carried out in depth with an institution and with a narrow subject. As a case study, the data collected comes from various sources of literature. This research resulted in that in the UINSU library itself, library service activities in tracing student information were quite good, starting from the service of time, place, and other excellent services that were included in the best service category. In searching for information, students themselves are required not only to be successful in searching for information, but also to find quality information and its validity can be accounted for. The existence of the need for information makes many people to obtain information in various ways. The need for information also raises human actions and behavior in obtaining and seeking information. This study uses a qualitative research approach. In terminology according to Baydan and Taylor, a qualitative approach is a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words. This research results that students perform information search to meet their information needs. Particularly the need for academic information, such as lecture assignments given by lecturers as well as to fulfill information needs about the basic theory of practicum. This study is entitled "Analysis of Information Searching Behavior of Library Science Students at UIN North Sumatra in Completing Undergraduate Thesis". The purpose of this study was to find out how the behavior of information retrieval of library science students in completing their undergraduate thesis at UIN Sumatra Utara. In addition, the research aims to find out what are the information needs of librarian science students at UIN North Sumatra. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a case study type of research. The subjects in this study were individuals who were library science students at UIN North Sumatra who were preparing their thesis. Then the object of this research is information retrieval behavior of library science students at UIN North Sumatra in completing their undergraduate thesis according to David Ellis. The results of this study indicate that the information needs of library science students at UIN North Sumatra, such as the subject needed is their field of study, namely the development of library science. Sources of information needed in the form of documents in the form of books and internet sources. While non-documentary sources are in the form of results of discussions in activities held by students majoring in library science.
