Abstract

Information search behavior is an attitude or action in seeking or finding the information needed. Information search behavior is important to do to get the required information that can help in solving problems. Kriklas (2006: 16), argues that information seeking behavior is an activity in determining and identifying messages to satisfy perceived information needs. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method to describe the nature of the problems being monitored. Sulistyo-Basuki (2006: 78) describes qualitative research intending to get a complete reflection of things for the thoughts of people being watched. This research results that in the search for information, it is included in the novice category. Because according to Hsieh Yee, a novice information seeker is a non-professional searcher who has no experience in searching or has never attended college or practiced online searching. Abstract

This study aims to determine information seeking behavior in meeting information needs at MAN 2 Deli Serdang. This study uses qualitative research methods, using a descriptive analysis approach. The findings of this study, students who meet their information needs prioritize visiting the library rather than going to the internet or other libraries. While the information source that students use the most is the third source of information (tertiary source), namely textbooks (textbooks) compared to the first source of information (primary source) and the second source of information (secondary source). Meanwhile, before conducting an information search, namely by looking at and reviewing the syllabus and preparing some of the notes needed in accordance with the theme of the task (starting). After that they determine the subject and use the core reference to link the search for the desired subject (chaining). Behavior when searching for information, they perform searches on collection shelves, OPAC, and the internet (browsing). The last behavior is that after searching for information, they carry out monitoring, extracting, checking, and ending. The obstacle faced by informants when searching on the internet is the lack of information search strategies applied by them, especially in determining the subject. In addition, the information they get is very much (overloaded). While the obstacles faced in the library are that they often do not get the collections they are looking for because the arrangement and placement on the collection shelves is not appropriate, so they look for other collections. Abstract

Information seeking behavior is reviewed from the theory of David Ellis 1989 with six forming elements, then refined by Meho and Tibbo in 2003 with ten forming elements of information seeking behavior sequentially namely starting, chaining, browsing, monitoring, accessing, differentiating, extracting , verifying, networking and information managing. This study uses qualitative research with field research. Qualitative research is research that does not use calculations. This qualitative research emphasizes the meaning, reasoning, definition of certain situations (in certain contexts). The qualitative approach is more about the process than the end result. This study resulted that overall the informants agreed to carry out information search activities when they received assignments from their lecturers. In carrying out the information search process, they tend to use electronic sources rather than printed sources. The reason for using electronic sources (Google) in finding information is that it is easy and fast so that when compared to printed sources, they have to go to the library first if the collection of books at home is insufficient. This study formulates the problem of how the development of article publication trends and literature patterns in IQRA articles (Library and Information Journal) published in 2017-2021. This study used a descriptive research method with a quantitative approach using bibliometric analysis techniques. Mapping is done with co-word based mapping. The research sample is 89 IQRA articles for 2017-2021. In this study, two supporting applications in bibliometrics were used, namely Mendeley and VOSViewer. The results of the study show that the visualization of the results of research data processing using the 2017-2021 IQRA journal metadata is grouped into 4 clusters. The results of the VOSViewer analysis seen from the overlay visualization that the research topic in the journal IQRA 2017-2021 which has been carried out for a long time is about librarians and the latest research on services. The results of the density visualization mean that the keyword groups in the 2017-2021 IQRA journal have a relationship with each other, in which the most frequently researched topic is the library. Abstract

The various information needs of users usually trigger a high curiosity about a particular topic. The existence of different information needs is what makes users transfer information to each other through social interaction. It is possible that this process occurs on a social media platform such as the rabbitholeid Instagram account. Information transfer and social interaction are related to each other because social interaction can be an important channel for the transfer of information between individuals or groups. The social interaction that causes the media transfer process is what occurs in the discussion in the comments column on the rabbitholeid account. The purpose of this research is to find out how the process of transferring information from the results of social interaction on the rabbitholeid Instagram account occurs. Through this study, it is hoped that later we will be able to find out how the process of transferring information that occurs on the account is made, especially with the social interactions that are carried out. In addition, this study also has problem limitations where the author will review in detail the cause and effect and the process of transferring information through social interaction on rabbitholeid accounts only so that it does not expand to a wider scope.
