Abstract

This study aims to find out how the perceptions of master students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra in terms of knowledge and experience in utilizing the Cambridge journal database. The research method used was qualitative with the informant selection technique using snowball sampling and five informants were obtained who knew and had accessed the Cambridge database. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results showed that the majority of informants did not know that the UINSU Library had subscribed to the Cambridge journal database service. Most students know about the database of Cambridge journals obtained from outsiders when they were undergraduate students so that it has an impact on usage statistics with 104 downloads per year. This is caused by promotions related to journal services that are not carried out evenly throughout the academic community due to the difference in location between the library and the postgraduate campus. There are several factors inhibiting students from not using the Cambridge journal database such as access to closed articles which causes students not to use the campus network to open access automatically or not to use accounts and passwords provided to log in outside the campus network.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the current phenomenon where according to a Digital Literacy survey conducted by Katadata, 30-60% of Indonesian people have been exposed to hoaxes when using social media anda 11% of them have spread hoax information because they don’t care about the truth of the information being spread. This study aimed to determine the relationship beetwen digital literacy and social media use. This study uses a quantitative approach, the population of this study was all students of the PAI study program of STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar. The sample size was deterrmined using a purposive sampling technique. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula so that the number of respondents was 86. Research data were collected by distributing questionnairs. The results showed that the digital literacy of PAI STAI “UISI” Pematang Siantar students was categorized as very high. This obtained an average score of 4.23 on an interval scale of 4.21-5.00, as well as the use of social media by students of PAI STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar is categorized as good, it obtained an average score of 3.92 on an interval scale 3.21-4.21. the result of the data analysis also show that there is asignificant relationship between digital literacy and the use of social media by students of the PAI study program of STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar.

Abstract

This study discusses the information-seeking behavior patterns of SMKN 1 Medan students regarding contemporary idols. The research aims to understand how the information-seeking behavior patterns of SMKN 1 Medan students unfold in the context of contemporary idols. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings reveal that SMKN 1 Medan students exhibit unique patterns when seeking information about contemporary idols, although there are some similarities with the Information Search Process theory previously proposed by Khultau. These patterns begin with problem recognition and the identification of information needs, followed by selecting a search system, formulating queries/keywords, conducting in-depth searches, filtering acquired information, and finally presenting the information. This outlines the information-seeking behavior patterns of SMKN 1 Medan students concerning contemporary idols.

Abstract

This research was aimed to examine empirically the effect of service quality digital library on Reading interest. The analysis used an independent variable (Quality Service Digital Library) and dependent variable (Reading Interest). The sample was conducted by purposive sampling method. This study location at perpustakaan PEMKO Medan Jalan Iskandar Muda Collecting data was conducted by a questionnaire distributed directly to responden and visitor as much 30 questionnaires. The statistical method used was multiplied analysis linear regression, with hypotheses testing of statistic t-tests. The result of this research showed that There is a significant positive influence between the quality of digital library services on students' reading interest in the regional library of Medan City (Library and Archives Service). Obtained based on the significance value that by partial test the significance value of t is 0.001 < than 0.05 this value shows the t value is smaller than the significance value of 0.05.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang perilaku pencaraian informasi pemustaka Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana perilaku pencarian informasi di perpustakaan Daerah Sumatera Utara serta kendala yang dihadapi ketika mencari informasi. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif, yaitu penelitian yang bermaksud untuk memahami fenomena tentang apa yang dialami oleh subjek penelitian misalnya perilaku, persepsi, motivasi tindakan, dan lain sebagainya. Selanjutnya, metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Dalam penelitian ini yang menjadi informasi adalah mahasiswa, peneliti, dan masyarakat (para pengunjung) di perpustakaan daerah Sumatera Utara yang aktif berkunjung ke perpustakaan sebanyak 11 orang. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa perilaku pencarian informasi diperpustakan daerah Sumatera Utara pada awalnya sadar butuh sebuah informasi karena mendapatkan tugas dari kampus dan guru, kemudian mereka terdorong untuk mencari informasi ke perpustakaan dengan mencatat terlebih dahulu di dalam buku kecil informasi yang akan mereka cari untuk mendapatkan informasi-informasi yang dibutuhkan.

Abstract

In conducting collaborative research involving more than one researcher, a system is needed that can improve the performance of researchers in various ways. This study captures the challenges faced by researchers in collaborative research and defines the requirements for collaborative research systems needed to address these challenges. From the analysis of the needs obtained, the researchers designed a collaboration application interface. Collaboration applications are needed to facilitate communication between researchers, search for articles, share publications, and other applications. The distribution of questionnaires and interviews were conducted to obtain the requirements needed for the development of a collaboration system. This research informs system developers to support the development of collaborative systems. In this study, the level of need for a research collaboration system in the university environment will be analyzed along with an analysis of its needs and the design of the user interface.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji secara empiris pengaruh kualitas layanan perpustakaan digital terhadap minat baca. Analisis menggunakan variabel bebas (Kualitas Layanan Perpustakaan Digital) dan variabel terikat (Minat Baca). Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan metode purposive sampling. Penelitian ini berlokasi di perpustakaan PEMKO Medan, Jalan Iskandar Muda. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner langsung kepada responden dan pengunjung sebanyak 30 kuesioner. Metode statistik yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier berganda, dengan pengujian hipotesis uji-t statistik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan antara kualitas layanan perpustakaan digital terhadap minat baca siswa di Perpustakaan Daerah Kota Medan (Layanan Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan). Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan berdasarkan nilai signifikansi bahwa dengan uji parsial nilai signifikansi t sebesar 0,001 < dari 0,05 nilai ini menunjukkan nilai t lebih kecil dari nilai signifikansi 0,05.

Abstract

This thesis discusses the Quality Evaluation of the UMN Al Washliyah library website using the webqual 4.0 method, where this research aims to ensure that library users use the website as a tool to search for information needs so that users no longer come directly to the library. This research uses a quantitative method with a comparative causal approach with sampling using the Accidental Sampling technique. The results from the research data that I obtained X1 has an average of 11.8 and has a percentage of 80%, the results are good, The percentage is 107% because users already understand and have good judgment, Y has an average value of 20.47 with a percentage value of 96%. So that the overall results show positive results received by the users of the UMN Al Washliyah library. The conclusion of the results of this research is quoted from the results of the coefficient of determination showing that the UMN Al Washliyah library website as an independent variable or variable that influences the quality of the UMN Al Washliyah library website is 78 % and the remaining 22% is caused by factors that are not related to the variables studied or other variables.

Abstract

This study discusses the Role of User Education in the Utilization of Library Services at Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra, where the core problem described in the research is the impact of the role of user education activities which is the library business of Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra in educating library users about library facilities and services.The research in this thesis uses a descriptive qualitative method. This study describes and describes the data to obtain analysis according to the research title. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of user education activities on user knowledge in utilizing library services. The informants in this study consisted of library staff, library volunteers and final semester students from the faculties of social sciences and law at Muhammadiyah University, North Sumatra. The results of this study show that user education activities have a specific target which is new students at the Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra. The role of this user education activity has a good impact and advances student knowledge about using library services and facilities properly. User education activities are also carried out as a tool for socializing between libraries and users, then the prominent role of user education is that the majority of users have properly utilized library facilities such as OPAC, reference services and volunteered to become library volunteers.
