Abstract

This study aims to determine how the Kaombo sanction for fisherman using destructive fishing and to find out how the Kaombo sanction for fisherman catching turtles. The research location was determined purposive with the consideration of an area that still applies Kaombo rules in fisheries resource management. The research method used descriptive qualitative method. The results showed that catching fish using destructive fishing gear is prohibited by Kaombo with a penalty of paying a fine of IDR 25,008,000 and catching turtles is prohibited by Kaombo with a penalty of paying a fine of IDR 600,000 per head.

Abstract

The study was conducted in Towua Village, Wundulako District, Kolaka Regency during the period from February to April 2019, in order to find out the social capital that occur intertwined between farmers. Respondents in this study were 20 farmers who were obtained through random sampling. Data collection through direct interviews using questionnaires. The research variables measured and observed were networks, collaboration, beliefs, social norms, citizenship and proactive actions. The result of this study showed, there are 5 (five) elements of social capital that occur intertwined between farmers namely network, collaboration, belief, social norms and citizenship. In the network element, occurs in the process of buying and selling and information on aquaculture as well as assistance from the Marine and Fisheries Office of Kolaka Regency; Cooperation. in the form of mutual assistance between farmers; Trust, in lending money between farmers without conditions; The social norms, agreed by the farmers are obliged if there are activities to clean the waterways around the ponds and Citizenship as good cultivators, they always give their voting rights every election. Network as a place to get information, cooperation forms familiarity between farmers; Trust will arise when a bond in a group the higher the possibility of establishing cooperation and will run for a long time; Social norms are informal norms that have existed for generations that were still adhered by the community; and Citizenship is an acknowledgment given to farmers in the form of recognition of the right to vote in the community. The elements of social capital are a foundation for achieving a goal or for maintaining business continuity.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) dalam pengolahan ubi hutan di Desa Liwumetingki melalui penguatan kapasitas dan penerapan teknologi inovatif untuk detoksifikasi. Teknologi ini tidak hanya meningkatkan efisiensi pencucian hingga 30%, tetapi juga menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan dengan mengurangi pencemaran air sungai. Selain itu, pengolahan ubi hutan menjadi produk bernilai tambah seperti keripik dan tepung telah meningkatkan prospek ekonomi masyarakat desa. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 85% anggota KTH melaporkan peningkatan keterampilan dalam pengolahan hasil hutan. Kegiatan ini juga menekankan pentingnya kolaborasi di dalam komunitas melalui pendekatan partisipatif untuk memaksimalkan keterlibatan dan berbagi pengetahuan di antara anggota. Kegiatan pengabdian ini merekomendasikan perlunya dukungan berkelanjutan dalam bentuk akses modal dan pasar untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa. Dengan demikian, pengolahan ubi hutan tidak hanya menjadi sumber pendapatan, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada pelestarian lingkungan dan penguatan ketahanan pangan lokal. Namun, tantangan seperti biaya awal pembangunan infrastruktur dan akses pasar masih menjadi kendala yang harus diatasi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan kolaborasi berkelanjutan dengan pemerintah daerah dan mitra swasta untuk memperluas dampak program dan memastikan keberhasilannya dalam jangka panjang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui berapa penghasilan nelayan telur ikan terbang dan sistem bagi hasil nelayan telur ikan terbang di Desa Batuatas Barat, Kecamatan Batuatas, Kabupaten Buton Selatan. Untuk menentukan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan total pendapatan nelayan telur ikan layang di Desa Batuatas Barat sebesar Rp 859.990.000/musim. Dengan sistem bagi hasil sebesar 40% bagi pemilik kapal dan 60% bagi petani bagi hasil. Rata-rata pendapatan yang diperoleh setiap nelayan (sebiji sawi) sebesar Rp 28.663.333/bulan.

Abstract

Traditional institutions function to regulate the order of community lives in the political, economic, socio-cultural, and security fields. This study aims to describe the structure of traditional institutions and explain the role of these institutions in supporting food security for small island communities. The research was carried out in April-December 2021 in the Islands of Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and literature study with the data triangulation method and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that traditional institutions such as Sara Liya on Wangi-Wangi Island and Sarano Wali on Binongko Island have a management structure that is directly responsible for the community's food security system. Sara plays a role as the person in charge of community welfare, regulates the control and management of agricultural/fishery land, organizes rituals to maintain the stability of food production, and regulates the distribution system and food consumption. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the community continue to trust Sara as a traditional institution that can partner with the government. Sara's management is expected to have high adaptability to changing community conditions while still maintaining the values of local wisdom. In addition, the government is expected to provide support for strengthening customary institutions

Abstract

Social factors are an important component in the maize farming process that can affect its sustainability. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the application of farmers' social capital and the sustainability of yellow corn farming in Parigi Village, Parigi Sub-district, Muna Regency. The study population consisted of 40 yellow corn farmers in Parigi Village. The sample consisted of 40 farmers and was determined using the census method, which involves taking the entire population into account. The text is grammatically correct and free from errors. Research data were collected through survey techniques, interviews, and documentation via research instruments in the form of questionnaires. No changes in content were made. The research process followed a quantitative approach. The language used throughout the text is clear, objective, and value-neutral, with a formal register and precise word choice. Data analysis was conducted using the class interval formula and Rank Spearman correlation. The text adheres to conventional structure and formatting features, including consistent citation and footnote style. The social capital implementation in Parigi Village is categorized as high. This indicates that farmers have generally implemented the indicators of social capital well, including trust, social norms, and social networks. All of these indicators are also in the high category. The sustainability level of yellow corn farming in Parigi Village is high, indicating that farmers are knowledgeable about and continue to receive information on sustainable farming practices that can support their livelihoods. Social capital has a significant positive relationship with the sustainability of yellow corn farming, meaning that higher social capital among farmers leads to better farming sustainability in Parigi Village. Therefore, social capital should be a crucial factor to consider and apply in all development activities carried out for farmers. Social capital is a system that has been developed by farming communities since ancient times and is still able to support farmers in maintaining the sustainability of farming in the face of existing challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the dynamics of farmer groups engaged in rice paddy farming in Peatoa Village, Loea District, East Kolaka Regency. The population under investigation consisted of all wet-rice farmers who were members of farmer groups in Peatoa Village, with a total of 54 wet-rice farmers. The sample was determined using the census method, whereby the entire population was included in the study, resulting in a research sample of 54 respondents. This research employs a quantitative approach. Data were gathered through survey methods, interviews, and documentation via media in the form of questionnaires. The data were processed using a quantitative descriptive method with the class interval formula and Spearman Rank correlation, with the assistance of SPSS software. The results indicated that the dynamics of paddy rice farmer groups in Peatoa Village had a positive impact on farm development. The majority of farmer group members shared similar goals. Group structure involved the division of tasks and responsibilities among members. The farmer groups demonstrate a high level of group task function. The farmer group coaching is progressing well. Each group member exhibits high levels of cohesion, which reflects effective unity and cohesiveness in managing rice paddy farming. A positive group atmosphere enhances cooperation, engagement, and productivity. The level of farmer group activity is an important factor in farm success. Overall, the farmer group dynamics in Peatoa Village show positive patterns, providing insights for agricultural policy development and community development in the region. Further enhancements to the dynamics of farmer groups may also be considered to enhance the productivity of wet-rice farming.

Abstract

Farmer empowerment is expected to have an impact on increasing the role of wet-rice farmer groups, thereby encouraging the welfare of farmers and their families. The objective of this study is to ascertain the extent of farmer empowerment and the role of paddy rice farmer groups in Baruga Subdistrict, as well as to examine the relationship between the two. The study population consisted of all wet-rice farmers (N = 197) who were members of 13 wet-rice farmer groups. The sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula with an error rate of 15%, resulting in a sample size of 30 respondents for the study. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis with the assistance of questionnaires, which were administered via the media. The variables under investigation in this study are farmer empowerment and the role of farmer groups. The data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively using the interval formula and the Spearman rank correlation formula. The results demonstrated that the empowerment of wet-rice farmers in Baruga Subdistrict has been effectively implemented. This is evidenced by the elevated levels of awareness and aspiration, the enhanced capacity to overcome challenges, and the elevated levels of ability to collaborate in farmer empowerment activities. The role of farmer groups in paddy rice farming has been fulfilled effectively, as evidenced by the fulfillment of each role of farmer groups, namely the role as a vehicle for learning, a vehicle for cooperation, and a production unit. The relationship between farmer empowerment and the role of paddy rice farmer groups is statistically significant, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.007. This indicates that as farmer empowerment improves, the role of paddy rice farmer groups in Baruga Village also improves.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to ascertain the perceptions of farmers regarding the performance of agricultural extension workers in paddy rice cultivation in Langgomea Village, Uepai Subdistrict, Konawe Regency, and to examine the relationship between these perceptions and the performance of the workers. The population under investigation in this study consisted of all wet-rice farmers in Langgomea Village. The research sample was selected using the simple random sampling method. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, with an error rate of 10%, resulting in a sample size of 52 respondents. This research employs a quantitative data approach. The data were collected via survey, interview, and recording methods with the use of media in the form of questionnaires or other pertinent documentation. This research employs a two-dimensional approach, with the variables of interest being the farmers' perceptions and the performance of agricultural extension workers. The data were processed in two stages or ways: first, using the class interval formula; and second, using the Spearman rank correlation formula. The findings indicate that the perceptions of wet-rice farmers in Langgomea Village, Uepai Subdistrict, Konawe Regency are predominantly positive, as evidenced by their observations, views, and opinions. The performance of agricultural extension workers in Langgomea Village is generally classified as "good," as evidenced by the implementation and impact of the results of the actions of agricultural extension workers at all stages of extension activities, including the planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting stages. The results demonstrated a significant and positive correlation between farmers' perceptions and the performance of agricultural extension workers in Langgomea Village. Consequently, an improvement in farmers' perceptions of the performance of agricultural extension workers was associated with an enhancement in the performance of agricultural extension workers, and vice versa.
