Abstract

This research aims to examine various methods that are often used in qualitative research. Qualitative data has the advantage of providing an in-depth understanding of the experiences, views and social context or individuals being studied. The method used in this research is library research where researchers obtain data from supporting literature and then analyze and describe it to make it easier to understand. The results of this research show that there are three qualitative data collection methods that are often used. The three methods are observation, interviews and documentation. Observation is used to observe existing phenomena and record the findings. Interviews are used to collect data by asking several questions to informants. And documentation is carried out to obtain data by utilizing written documents, archives, images, videos, and so on. These three collection methods have their respective advantages and disadvantages. It is hoped that this study can serve as a guide for researchers in choosing appropriate qualitative data collection methods to obtain a thorough and accurate understanding of the topic being researched.

Abstract

The "Entrepreneurial Health Care Education in the Muhammadiyah Wiyung Community" initiative aims to enhance health awareness and entrepreneurial spirit among community members, particularly the elderly. Conducted from July to August 2024, this community service program utilized a mentoring approach that included counseling, health assessments, and business plan development. Participants received free health checks, including blood pressure and blood sugar tests, along with consultations on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The program also focused on fostering entrepreneurship by assisting community members in creating business plans for a stall selling essential goods. Despite challenges such as limited product variety and offline marketing, the initiative successfully engaged around 50 participants, promoting a healthier lifestyle and entrepreneurial mindset. The collaboration between the service team and community leaders was instrumental in achieving the program's objectives. The findings suggest that ongoing community service efforts can significantly contribute to the development of healthy, productive, and entrepreneurial individuals within the Muhammadiyah Wiyung community. Future recommendations include expanding product offerings and incorporating e-commerce strategies to enhance business viability.

Abstract

Financial reporting is essential for communicating financial performance to stakeholders. Profit, as a key financial indicator, is often affected by earnings management, which may pose information risks to investors. The audit committee plays a vital role in supervising financial reports and reducing earnings manipulation risks. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is also influenced by financial performance and earnings management. This study examines the effects of earnings management and the audit committee on CSR, with financial performance as a mediating variable. Earnings management is measured using discretionary accruals, the audit committee by the number of members, financial performance by return on equity (ROE), and CSR by the CSRI index (GRI G4). Using quantitative methods, panel data from 33 conventional banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for 2020–2022 (99 observations) were analyzed with SPSS 25. Results show earnings management negatively and insignificantly affects financial performance, while the audit committee has a positive but insignificant effect. Earnings management positively but insignificantly affects CSR, whereas the audit committee has a negative and significant effect. Financial performance does not mediate the earnings management–CSR relationship but does mediate the audit committee–CSR relationship. This study enhances understanding of financial reporting, audit oversight, and CSR implementation.

Abstract

Instrument calibration in scientific educational research plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and validity of the data obtained. This research discusses the instrument calibration process using a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative approach. The quantitative approach emphasizes testing the reliability and validity of instruments through statistical analysis, such as Cronbach's alpha coefficient for reliability and factor analysis for validity. Meanwhile, the qualitative approach involves an in-depth assessment of the quality of the items through interviews, observations, and initial testing to assess the relevance and understanding of respondents. Instrument adjustments were made based on the results of quantitative analysis and qualitative feedback, resulting in a more accurate and reliable instrument. This research shows that the integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches in the instrument calibration process can improve the quality of measurements and the overall validity of educational research results.

Abstract

Garahan Village, located in Silo District, Jember Regency, is known for its community-based coffee production. However, the local farmers continue to face significant challenges in marketing their coffee products beyond the village level. The lack of knowledge and skills in digital marketing strategies has resulted in limited market access and low product competitiveness. This community service program was designed to address these challenges by enhancing the marketing capabilities of local coffee farmers through the conceptualization and implementation of a digital marketing model. The ultimate goal is to support sustainable food security by strengthening the economic resilience of coffee farmers. The activities in this program involved a series of stages, including preliminary surveys to identify key problems, direct observations, educational outreach on the importance of digital marketing, hands-on training in social media utilization and online marketplace platforms, and continuous monitoring and evaluation of the implementation process. The main partners of this initiative were members of the local coffee farmer group in Garahan Village. The results of the program indicate a significant improvement in the partners’ understanding and application of digital marketing tools. Prior to the intervention, only 10% of participants were familiar with digital marketing; this figure rose to 85% after the training sessions. Moreover, digital-based coffee sales increased by 40% within three months following the intervention. These outcomes demonstrate the effectiveness of the community engagement approach in addressing local agricultural marketing issues. Key outputs of the program include the establishment of social media accounts and online storefronts for coffee products, increased farmer capacity in managing digital promotion, and the production of a simple digital marketing guidebook for sustainable use.
