Abstract

Fusarium oxysporum is the causal agent of damping-off disease. The fungus attacks seedlings of many plant species, including Acacia mangium. In order to effectively control the disease, detailed information on how the fungus infects seedlings of A. mangium and how the plant responds to the fungal infection is essentially needed. The objectives of this research were to investigate: (1) the infection process of F. oxysporumon seedlings of A. mangium, (2) the defence response of A. mangium seedling to infection by F. oxysporum. The fungal pathogen was identified, followed by performance of pathogenicity test. The infection process was followed by macroscopic observation as well as microscopic observation. The result indicated that fungal spore germination was observed at two-day post inoculation in planta. At four-daypost inoculation, hyphae of F. oxysporum had penetrated the collar root of A. mangium seedling via stomata aperture. In addition, fungal hyphae had grown intercellulary in to the vascular tissue. Correspondingly, hypersensitive response was also detected at the stomata aperture. However, this defence mechanism is not effective in stopping the fungus since F. oxysporum is a necrotropic pathogen. Moreover, accumulation of lignin, but not callose, was observed. Keywords:  Fusarium oxysporum, damping-off, Acacia mangium

Abstract

The implementation of a mobile-based digital attendance system in higher education aims to enhance the efficiency of academic administration and the accuracy of attendance data. However, various challenges remain that impact the quality of user experience, including suboptimal authentication processes, the absence of logout notifications, limited attendance data visualization, and lack of login information storage features. These issues can potentially diminish user convenience and reduce long-term application efficiency. At Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, a barcode-scanning-based attendance application has been deployed; however, a comprehensive usability and user perception evaluation has not yet been conducted. This study aims to evaluate the usability of the application using a mixed-method approach that combines quantitative and qualitative methods, namely the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) and the Think Aloud protocol. The UEQ method is employed to assess user perception across six dimensions: attractiveness, clarity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation, and novelty. In contrast, the Think Aloud method explores users’ real-time verbal feedback and difficulties while interacting with the application. A total of 100 respondents completed the UEQ, and 5 participants took part in the Think Aloud sessions. The results indicate that all UEQ dimensions received positive scores, with clarity scoring the highest (mean = 1.95) and novelty the lowest (mean = 1.35). Findings from the Think Aloud sessions corroborate the UEQ results and reveal previously unidentified areas for improvement. Based on these insights, user-centered design recommendations were developed and translated into a user interface prototype. This study not only provides a comprehensive usability evaluation but also offers direction for the development of a more intuitive and adaptive mobile attendance application that can be adopted by other educational institutions.

Abstract

The prime mover for the majority of heavy equipment units is still dominated by fossil fuel engines. Before starting innovation on expensive large excavator machines, innovation can be started with electric mini excavators which have almost the same working system but have affordable development costs. This research focuses on the bucket which is an indicator of the performance of an excavator unit. The research method used was designing, making, and testing a bucket attached to a mini excavator. The final objective of this research is to design the bucket components that are installed on the electric mini excavator and also determine the volume of the bucket when it is in the flat position (struck) and in the full position (heaped). Based on research that has been carried out, the bucket volume of the mini excavator props when it is in the flat position (struck) is 0.012 m3 or the equivalent of 16.8 kg of sand and when it is in the full position (heaped) it is 0.017 m3 or the equivalent of 23.8 kg of sand.
