Abstract

Elementary school teachers in Indonesia are required to master many subjects to be taught to their students. It is undeniable that the teachers’ mastery of knowledge (material) in some subjects inadequate. Therefore, it is worth to argue that there was a misconception in mathematics teaching in elementary schools. This research was designed using a qualitative approach. The participants of this study were 30 elementary school teachers in Semarang city area, Central Java province, Indonesia. The research data were obtained through questionnaires, and interviews. The purpose of the study was to discuss the types and causes of the misconception of mathematics teaching in elementary schools. Alternative solutions were also presented to problem-solving so that misconceptions do not occur anymore in mathematics teaching. The findings show that, teachers evenly experience types of misconceptions: (1) pre-conception, (2) under-generalization, (3) over-generalization, (4) modelling error, (5) prototyping error; and (6) process-object error in teaching mathematics in elementary schools. Some misconceptions have taken root and are difficult to remove, called "ontological misconceptions" because of teachers' years of belief that the knowledge they received was true when in fact it was not quite right.

Abstract

Salah satu solusi untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang efektif adalah pembelajaran kontekstual (CTL) dengan strategi penemuan berbantuan CD pembelajaran  yang didampingi LKS.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui : (1) pengaruh dan seberapa besar pengaruh aktivitas dan motivasi terhadap hasil belajar pada  pembelajaran kontekstual strategi  penemuan berbantuan  CD pembelajaran yang didampingi LKS, (3) perbedaan  hasil belajar  pada pembelajaran kontekstual strategi penemuan berbantuan CD pembelajaran yang didampingi LKS, pembelajaran kontekstual strategi penemuan berbantuan alat peraga didampingi LKS, dan  pembelajaran ekspositori berbantuan alat peragaPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan populasi semua siswa kelas IV di SD Islam Sultan Agung Semarang . Berdasarkan teknik  random sampling diperoleh  dua kelompok eksperimen yakni kelompok eksperimen pertama (E1) dengan pembelajaran kontekstual strategi penemuan berbantuan CD pembelajaran didampingi LKS, kelompok eksperimen kedua (E2) dengan pembelajaran kontekstual strategi penemuan berbantuan alat peraga didampingi LKS, dan satu kelompok kontrol (K) dengan pembelajaran ekspositori berbantuan alat peraga pada kompetensi dasar penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan bulat.Data penelitian diperoleh melalui: (1) observasi, (2) angket, dan (3) tes kemampuan kognitif. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivitas dan motivasi terhadap hasil belajar digunakan uji analisis regresi, untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan hasil belajar digunakan uji banding  (OneWay Anava) diteruskan  uji lanjut ANAVA dengan metode Scheffe, dan uji ketuntasan (KKM) hasil belajar dengan uji One sample T Test.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) hasil uji regresi pada kelompok eksperimen pertama (E1)  menunjukkan adanya pengaruh aktivitas dan motivasi terhadap hasil belajar, (2) hasil uji banding (One Way Anava) menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil belajar antara ketiga  kelompok, dan (3) hasil uji lanjut ANAVA dengan metode Scheffe menunjukkan bahwa antara ketiga kelompok berbeda secara signifikan yakni kelompok (E1)(E2), (E1)(K), dan  (E2)(K), Berdasarkan mean hasil belajar diperoleh bahwa kelompok eksperimen pertama (E1) lebih baik dibanding  kelompok eksperimen kedua(E2) dan kelompok kontrol (K).Kata kunci : CTL, penemuan, CD, bilangan bulat.

Abstract

AbstractThis research is a qualitative research based on classroom reports. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of the RME approach on the imagination and creative thinking abilities of elementary school students in solving math problems. The method of data collection was done through written tests, observations, and interviews. The participants in this study consisted of a class teacher, 36 grade 6 elementary school students, and an observer. The results showed that the application of the realistic mathematics education (RME) learning approach had a positive effect, namely encouraging the development of students' imaginative power and creative thinking skills in solving problems. The principles of RME are in line with the objectives of learning mathematics, namely to equip them with the ability to think logically, realistically, analytically, systematically, critically, and creatively.

Abstract

Penerapan model pembelajaran Logan Avenue Problem Solving Heuristik yang dikombinasikan dengan nuansa islami dapat membantu siswa lebih baik lagi dalam memahami materi trigonometri sebagaimana tujuan dari penelitian ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian campuran dengan metode primernya menggunakan metode kualitatif dan sekundernya menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes, dan wawancara. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan uji normalitas, homogenitas, ketuntasan, dan uji perbedaan rata-rata. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Deskripsi kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas X MA Miftahul Ulum Ngemplak antara lain: a) Subjek penelitian tinggi dapat memenuhi indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan benar dan lengkap, b) Subjek penelitian sedang dapat memenuhi indikator namun masih terdapat kesalahan, c) Subjek penelitian rendah mampu memenuhi indikator tetapi masih banyak melakukan kesalahan. (2) Kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas eksperimen mencapai KKM 70 dengan hasil rata-rata kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sebesar 80,76. (3) Rata-rata hasil kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang menerima pembelajaran LAPS Heuristik Bernuansa Islami lebih tinggi yaitu sebesar 80,76 daripada rata-rata siswa yang menerima pembelajaran direct learning yaitu sebesar 68,26.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui  tingkat kelayakan media Islamic Math Comics materi perbandingan SMP. Penelitian ini berbentuk penelitian pengembangan R&D (research & development) menggunakan metode ADDIE (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). Dalam penelitian ini hanya dibatasi sampai tahap design saja. Media ini dikembangkan dengan mendesain gambar manual, scan, dan adobe photoshop. Islamic Math Comics merupakan komik matematika materi perbandingan bernuansa islami mengandung bimbingan karakter dan meningkatkan pemahaman matematis siswa. Setelah dihasilkan produk awal akan dilakukan validasi dari ahli materi, ahli media, dan guru matematika. Analisis data menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini dari aspek materi diperoleh skor 3,19 “Sangat Layak”, aspek bahasa diperoleh skor 3,33 “Sangat Layak”, dan aspek penyajian diperoleh skor 3,30 “Sangat Layak”. Jadi media ini berada dalam kategori “Sangat Layak” digunakan dan tidak terlepas dari saran atau masukan validator seperti mengembangkan isinya agar lebih sinkron, menambahkan soal tantangan, dan mencantumkan KD/KI secara tertulis. This study aims to determine the level of feasibility of Islamic Math Comics media for comparison SMP material. This research is in the form of R&D development research (research & development) using the ADDIE method (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). In this study only limited to the design stage. This media was developed by designing manual images, scans, and Adobe Photoshop. Islamic Math Comics is an Islamic comic comparison material containing Islamic character guidance and improving students' mathematical understanding. After the initial product is produced, validation will be carried out from the material experts, media experts, and mathematics teachers. Data analysis using descriptive qualitative. The results of this study from the material aspects obtained a score of 3.19 "Very Feasible", the aspect of language obtained a score of 3.33 "Very Feasible", and the aspect of presentation obtained a score of 3.30 "Very Feasible". So this media is in the category of "Very Eligible" to be used and is inseparable from validator suggestions or input such as developing its contents to be more synchronous, adding challenge questions, and including KD / KI in writing.

Abstract

Misconceptions of teaching mathematics in elementary schools often occur, not only to students but also experienced by teachers. Elementary school teachers are required to master many subjects where not all learning material (one of them mathematics) can be mastered by the teacher well. An elementary school teacher may be proficient in the field of language, but on the other hand is weak in the field of mathematics. So that it should be suspected, one of the causes of misconception in students is the teacher. Therefore, through a qualitative research approach, the types and causes of misconceptions in mathematics learning in elementary schools will be revealed by teachers. Research data was revealed through questionnaires and interviews.  The findings show that there have been "type misconceptions: pre-conception, undegenneralization, and modeling error" that are stable, permanent and rooted in mathematics teaching in elementary schools

Abstract

The success of students in problem solving is highly dependent on the ability of students representing each developmental problems and a higher representation influenced by other representations. The aim of research to uncover and describe the capabilities and dispositions mathematical representation based on the students’ mathematical power. The subjects were students (prospective teachers of mathematics) academic year 2015/2016 Mathematics Education Department, Sultan Agung Islamic University. The numbers of students in this study were 29 students. The data collection technique using a mathematical representation tests, mathematical disposition questionnaires and interviews. The study concluded that the representation is affected by the disposition of the mathematical aspects of a person, through a positive disposition will help increase students' understanding of mathematical concepts. Furthermore, the mathematical representation will improve communication skills, perform conjecture and troubleshooting. In general disposition and mathematical representation was instrumental in enhancing the competence of the students’ mathematical power. Keywords: disposition, representations, mathematical power

Abstract

This scientific article presents the results of a literature review on scaffolding strategies in mathematics education (2015-2020). The literature review was based on 32 scientific publications that met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final analysis with a total sample size of 1368 students (participants). In theory, this literature research aims to provide an empirical picture of the latest literature on the application of scaffolding strategies and analyze teacher-student interaction patterns when scaffolding is implemented in mathematics learning. The results of this literature review indicate that the pattern of teacher-student interaction when scaffolding support follows an approach: one-to-one scaffolding, peer-scaffolding, and computer-based scaffolding. here are three categories of teacher tendencies in providing scaffolding support,  namely: cognitive scaffolding, affective scaffolding, and metacognitive scaffolding. The results of the literature review also concluded that the application of scaffolding strategies in mathematics learning was effective in terms of reducing mathematics anxiety, motivating and increasing student achievement
