Abstract

The Qanun Jinayat of Aceh, a regional criminal law rooted in Islamic Sharia, regulates same-sex acts through the categories of jarīmah liwāṭh and musāḥaqah. However, this legal construction raises critical issues, particularly in terms of normative Islamic law and human rights (HR). The main criticism targets its repressive and legalistic approach, which overlooks the sociological context and the identity dynamics of perpetrators. This neglects the principles of justice (al-'adl) and compassion (al-raḥmah) in maqāṣid al-sharī'ah, and fails to consider the legal capacity (ahliyyah al-wujūb) of offenders. Moreover, it does not cover the complexity of sexual identities such as transgender and bisexual, leading to potential legal inequality. This study aims to analyse the construction of LGBT criminalization in Qanun Jinayat Aceh, examine the foundations of critique, and propose a reformulation grounded in Sharia justice and human rights. The research employs a normative legal method with statutory, conceptual, and maqāṣid al-sharī'ah approaches, along with critical analysis of Islamic legal doctrines and HR principles. Data were collected through literature review of primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials. The findings reveal that the criminalization framework is based on classical fiqh with a ta'zīr-based orientation to ḥifẓal-'irḍ (protection of dignity). Despite its repressive nature, there are signs of adaptation to maqāṣid al-sharī'ah, especially in protection and justice. The proposed reform includes: re-evaluation of ahliyyah al-wujūb for more proportional accountability; application of a double track system combining penal sanctions and rehabilitation; and development of contextual legal norms through a reconciliatory approach between Sharia and human rights.

Abstract

The digital transformation of school libraries has become an essential strategy for improving educational quality and strengthening students' information literacy. This study examines the acceptance and optimization of three library automation applications—SchiLS, SLiMS, and INLISLite—in senior high schools and Islamic senior high schools (SMA/MA) in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A mixed-methods approach was employed by integrating quantitative and qualitative data collected through observations, questionnaires, and interviews involving 46 librarians selected using proportionate stratified random sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS and evaluated based on information system effectiveness indicators, while qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that the three library applications significantly enhance librarians' performance in managing library services, improving system usability, information quality, and operational efficiency. SchiLS demonstrated the highest level of user acceptance across most evaluation indicators, while SLiMS and INLISLite also showed positive contributions to library management. Despite these benefits, several challenges remain, including the limited availability of qualified library personnel, insufficient professional development opportunities, inadequate institutional support, and limited digital infrastructure, particularly internet connectivity. The study concludes that successful implementation of library automation systems depends not only on technological quality but also on organizational commitment, competent human resources, and sustainable policy support. Strengthening these factors is essential for maximizing digital library services and enhancing educational outcomes in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a deep learning-integrated flipbook for enhancing elementary students’ science learning outcomes. In this study, deep learning refers to a learning approach that promotes meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences. The study was motivated by the need to transform surface-level learning into meaningful and reflective learning experiences in primary science education. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants consisted of 20 fourth-grade students selected through purposive sampling. The developed flipbook integrated deep learning principles through meaningful learning activities, mindful reflection, and joyful learning experiences. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, learning outcome tests, and student response questionnaires. The research instruments were reviewed by experts to ensure their content validity and suitability for elementary science learning. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the flipbook achieved a very valid category. The practicality evaluation showed a teacher response score and a student response in excellent category or very practical. Student learning outcomes improved significantly, as indicated high category. These findings indicate that the developed flipbook is valid, practical, and effective in supporting elementary science learning. This study contributes to elementary science education by providing an innovative digital learning media that integrates deep learning through meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences to enhance students’ learning outcomes.
