Abstract

Arenga palm (Arenga pinnata) is one species from palmae family. Economically, the palm is suitable for home industry, such as Balinese offering which use parts of young leaf, sap can be used as special local genius sweet drink from Bali, fruits are boilled that can be mixed with sugar for healthy ice. Arenga palm can be propagated aseptically using tissue culture technique. Culture media may varried between MS and WPM with or without adding hormone. Auxin can be added as 2.4-D ( 4 ppm) to induce callus. NAA and BAP with concentration 1.5 ppm respectively also added to induce multiplication of shoots or roots. Each treatment had 10 replicatations. Six weeks after cultured, callus growth observed only at WPM media that enriched with 2,4-D. The others treatment show the explant was dormant because did not show any growth while analysed anatomically under microscope.

Abstract

The black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl.) is an epiphytic orchid spesies that iscurrently endangered. To protect and maintain the genetic resources it is necessary to find theproper way to store seeds in a long time. The purpose this study is to determine the viability ofthe black orchid seeds sowed in organic medium with different storage period. The result showedthat the seeds sown in fresh condition has the highest percentage of growth up to 60%, seedswith storage period of 2 weeks has growth percentage of 20%, while the storage period of 4weeks has growth percentage of 2.5%. The growth phase of sowed seeds in fresh condition andseeds storage in 2 weeks periode is phase 4 (second leaf formed embryo) and seeds storage in 2weeks periode is phase 2 (green embryo). This suggest that the storage condition of black orchidseeds is influence physiology and seed viability. Keywords: Coelogyne pandurata Lindl., seed viability, storage periode

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the potential of Peliatan Village to be an ecotourism village and the eligibility of Peliatan Village to be an ecotourism destination. Four aspects were observed. They weare attraction, accessibility, amenity and ancillary. The method used to get the data are deep-interview with the Head of Peliatan Village, locals, and visitors, literature review, observation and accidental questionnaire. Data analysis was done by scoring and description. The result of the observation shows that Peliatan Village has the potential relating to the natural attraction e.g. the diversity flora and wild animals, ecosystem of rice field and river, cultural attraction, man-made attraction, accessibility, amenity, ancillary and society's participation in the development of ecotourism village. Peliatan Village is eligible to be expanded into an ecotourism area based on the five criteria of ADO-ODTWA with eligibility index of 96.11%. Keywords: attraction, destination eligibility, flora fauna, sustainable tourism.

Abstract

Black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl.) is an orchid endemic to the island ofBorneo. However, its existence is increasingly threatened with extinction. Conventionalpropagation efforts require a long time. Therefore in vitro propagation was performed. Thepurpose of this study was to determine the growth response of black orchids on the media anddifferent planting techniques. Black orchid plantlets that have been sub-cultured wasacclimatized in four different media types ie moss, fern, wood charcoal, wood charcoal andcoconut fiber mixture and different planting techniques namely compot (community pot) andthe individual, were allowed to grow for three months. Randomized block design (RBD) wasutilised, obtained 8 combination treatments, with 7 replicates. The results showed blackorchid has a good growth response in the media moss, ferns, and a mixture of wood charcoaland coconut fiber, while the wood charcoal media showed unfavorable results. Differentplanting techniques showed no significant results. Percentage of high life shown in mixedmedia wood charcoal and coconut fiber and compot techniques.Keyword : Black orchid (Coelogyne pandurata Lindl.), acclimatization, media

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the best media and auxin for plantingpotato cutting to produce G1 seed potato. Research was done at a shade house ofKebun Bibit Hortikultura Kembang Merta, Candi Kuning Village, Baturiti, TabananRegency, Bali. Were planted at the screen house for sprouting. Four weeks old ofshoots were used as cutting. Each cutting measured 10 cm. Stem cutting of G0 seedpotatoes was dipped in 2 different auxin types (Rootone F and auxin paste) and plantedin 2 different media (manure and charred rice husk). Results shows that the bestcombination between media and auxin for stem cutting growth was charred rice huskand Rootone F, in which 82.29% growth was recorded. Combination between charredrice husk and Rootone F produced 12 more seed potatoes per plant, compared to othertreatment combination. In term of seed potato size, the highest number produced (80%)was size SS (<20 gram) , followed by size S (21-30 gram) which is 66%, size M (31-60gram) which is 8% and size L (>60%) of 2%.Keyword : Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), stem cuttings, seed production.

Abstract

Spesies Manihot esculenta terdapat tiga varian, Ipomoea batatas terdapat 5 varian, Xantosoma sagittifolium terdapat 4 varian, Colocasia esculenta 1 varian, Amorphophallus campalunatus 1 varian, Dioscorea alata 4 varian, Dioscorea aculeata 2 varian, Dioscorea hipsida 1 varian dan Dioscorea bulbifera 2 varian. Perbedaan karakter morfologi dilihat pada perawakan, umbi (bentuk, struktur, ukuran, warna), batang (bentuk, struktur, ukuran, warna), daun (bentuk, struktur, ukuran, warna).
