Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of low-impact aerobic exercise on increasing physical fitness for the elderly. This one group of pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research recruited elderly subjects from Sumber Waras Elderly Association in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Twenty-four elderly subjects aged 60-70 years old participated in the 16 sessions of aerobic exercise intervention. All subjects completed pre-and post-intervention physical fitness tests comprising the aerobic/cardiovascular (CV) endurance (2 minutes step test), upper body strength (arm curl test), lower body strength (chair stand test), upper body flexibility (back scratch test), core and lower body flexibility (sit and reach test) and balance (8 foot up and go test). Changes in physical fitness (post- versus pre-intervention) of the subjects were analyzed using paired T-test. The normality and homogeneity tests were performed using the Kolmogorov Smirnov and Levene’s tests, respectively. Statistical significance was set to p 0.05. This study showed that all physical fitness components, including aerobic endurance, upper and lower body strength, upper and lower body flexibility, and balance, were increased significantly in the subjects (p 0.05). The results suggest that low-impact aerobic exercise positively affects physical fitness improvement in the elderly.

Abstract

When practicing or matching, the tennis players will have many sweats. There will many sweats again, if they do sport exercise in a hot place. The sweats from the body can achieve a liter per hour. Many of tennis players, who do not know how many liquid that out from the body through the sweat when they play, practice or have a match. For men or women teenage players, they produce around one to two and a half liters sweats a day.   However,  for some professional players, that produce can get more until three and a half liters a day in a competition season. If the body lost more than 2 % water from the total of body weight, it will cause dehydration (lack of the body's liquid) and can disturb their health. To prevent the dehydration, it is better for tennis players to drink before they feel thirsty. Drink water regularly with little electrolyte and carbohydrate are better to prevent the dehydration. It is suggested to drink juice from fresh fruits because of water and electrolyte in it which is needed to change the lost water and liquid from the body along practicing or having a match. Keywords: nutrition, hydration, tennis ball athletes' performance

Abstract

Achieving precise kick accuracy and coordinated movements in futsal was essential for competitive success. This study aimed to evaluate the differences between various futsal training approaches that incorporated distinct coordination exercises involving manipulative movements, specifically assessing their impact on kick accuracy. A quasi-experimental design with a control group was employed, focusing on shooting skills within the futsal context. The population consisted of 70 members from the Universitas Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Timur (UMKT) futsal team, from which 40 players were purposively selected based on their participation duration of over six months and their tier status within the university's core teams. Participants were divided into two groups: one received static coordination training (control group), and the other underwent dynamic coordination training (experimental group), each comprising 20 players. The intervention spanned 18 sessions, including pre- and post-tests. Data were collected through a modified shooting kick test at the futsal goal, utilizing a point distribution system. Analysis revealed significant differences in kick performance between the two training methods, with dynamic coordination training yielding superior results (t-count = 3.010 > t-table = 2.024). These findings indicated that dynamic coordination exercises were more effective than static ones in enhancing futsal kick accuracy. Future research should have considered expanding the population and sample size to include amateur players, introducing additional variables and diverse training methodologies, extending training duration and frequency, conducting long-term evaluations, measuring shooting technique quality, and employing quantitative research methods. By addressing these suggestions, subsequent studies could contribute more comprehensively to the understanding of effective training strategies in futsal.

Abstract

Background and Study Aim. The participation of female athletes in a sporting event in each country is very minimal compared to men, basically the State policy has not fully allowed female athletes to wear the hijab. Hijab is familiar to Muslim women but on the other hand the policies of their respective countries do not support Muslim women participating in a sporting event by wearing hijab. This study aims to explore the involvement of Muslim women who wear hijab in international sporting eventsMaterial and Methods. This research used Harzing Publish or Perish to start the search, Scopus database was used, which is considered as one of the best citation indexing tools. The criteria used the PRISMA protocol (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses). The keywords of this research are (“Muslimah” AND “Sportswear” AND “Women's Participation” OR “Women in Sports”). Based on these results, only 7 journal articles were used in the systematic literature review in this study.Results. The result of this study is that the gradual increase in the number of female Olympians obscures the reality that a woman's opportunity to participate and compete in sports. It can be seen that in several countries there has been an increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in championships in the international arena, but the policies given have not allowed female athletes in all sports to cover the aurat or wear the hijab, the obligation of a Muslim is to cover the aurat, which in principle between policies and obligations become two things that intersect.Conclusion. In conclusion, despite a noticeable increase in the number of Muslim female athletes participating in international championships, policy limitations still prevent female athletes in some sports from covering their aurat or wearing the jilbab.

Abstract

ABSTRAK This study aims to evaluate the application of the ball tower model in learning forehand top spin shot techniques for students of the Physical Education, Health and Recreation Department of Unmus. The research identified four main indicators of problems, namely: lack of effective tools; low student confidence; lack of constructive feedback from the instructor, and  the importance of considering variations in student learning styles. The results showed that limited tools and practice time had a negative impact on students' ability to practice optimally. In addition, students' low confidence was caused by uncertainty in applying techniques and lack of support from instructors. Unspecific feedback also caused confusion in understanding the correct technique. This study recommends corrective measures, including providing adequate tools, increasing instructor support, and paying more attention to students' learning styles to create an inclusive and effective learning environment. The application of the ball tower model in learning forehand top spin strokes for Penjaskesrek Unmus students shows that several significant obstacles need to be overcome to increase the effectiveness of the learning process.
