Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution, effectiveness, and degree of fiscal decentralization of Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD) of Jambi City during the 2020–2024 period. The background of this study is based on the importance of PAD as an indicator of regional fiscal independence in the era of regional autonomy, where local governments are required to optimize their revenue sources independently. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive approach using secondary data obtained from the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK). The analysis was conducted using contribution ratios, effectiveness ratios, and fiscal decentralization degree ratios. The results show that the contribution of PAD to the total regional revenue of Jambi City is still relatively low, ranging from 22% to 33%, indicating a high dependence on transfer funds from the central government. The effectiveness level of PAD shows fluctuating conditions, where in several years the realization has not optimally achieved the predetermined targets. In addition, the degree of fiscal decentralization in Jambi City remains in the low category, indicating that the level of regional financial independence is not yet optimal. Therefore, efforts are needed to optimize the management of PAD sources and to diversify regional revenue in order to enhance sustainable fiscal independence.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine how city branding and electronic Word-of-Mouth (e-WOM) influence tourists’ visiting decisions through the mediating role of city image in a medium-sized emerging tourism city. Research Methodology: This study was conducted in Sungai Penuh City, Indonesia, using a quantitative survey of 360 tourists who had previously visited the city. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS, and mediation effects were tested through bootstrapping. Results: The findings show that city branding and e-WOM have significant positive effects on both the city image and tourists’ visiting decisions. City image also has a strong direct influence on visiting decisions and significantly mediates the relationship between city branding, e-WOM, and visiting decisions. Conclusions: This study concludes that tourists’ visiting decisions in emerging urban destinations are shaped not only by institutional branding strategies and online narratives but also by how these factors are translated into a favorable city image. Limitations: This study was limited to one medium-sized tourist city and employed a cross-sectional design, which may restrict the generalizability of the results to other destinations. Contributions: This study highlights the city image as a key mechanism linking city branding and e-WOM to tourists’ visiting decisions and provides practical implications for destination managers to strengthen branding strategies and manage digital communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the income of oil palm farmers and formulate strategies to improve it in Muara Tembesi District, Batang Hari Regency. The variables examined include land area, capital, labor, and market price. The research applies a field research method with a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 98 oil palm farmers selected using a random sampling technique. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 27, while a SWOT analysis was used to formulate income improvement strategies. The results indicate that both simultaneously and partially, land area, capital, labor, and market price significantly influence farmers’ income. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.935 shows that 93.5% of the variation in income can be explained by these four variables, while 6.5% is explained by other factors outside the model. The SWOT analysis positions oil palm farming in Quadrant I (aggressive growth strategy), with key strategies including strengthening farmer institutions, improving access to capital, adopting modern cultivation technologies, and encouraging price stabilization policies for fresh fruit bunches (FFB).

Abstract

This study aims to analysis the impact of the presence of coal transport parking areas on the Income of the Informal Sector, identify the most dominant factors influencing Income, and examine the socio-economic impact experienced by informal sector business actors in Muara Tembesi District. This study uses a quantitative approach with Multiple Linear Regression analysis and Classical Assumption Tests to test the hypotheses. Data were obtained through surveys of informal sector business owners around the parking areas. The dependent variable is Income, while the independent variables include Age, Education, Working Hours, Initial Capital, and Distance. Comparative descriptive analysis is used to validate socio-economic changes. Data analysis shows that working hours, initial capital, and distance have a positive and significant impact on the income of informal sector business actors, whereas age and education do not significantly affect the income of informal sector business actors. Descriptively, there has been massive welfare migration, indicated by the decrease in the proportion of low-income respondents from 60 percent to only 2 percent after the intervention. The presence of parking pockets has been proven to provide a positive and transformative economic impact for the informal sector. This impact is driven by increased production inputs (Capital and Working Hours). On the other hand, logistics activities generate negative external impacts in the form of dust pollution and security risks, which require strict regulation by the Local Government.
