Abstract

Eel (Anguilla bicolor) in the grow-out culture requires good fingerling seeds. Increasing the eel productivity can be done by increasing the stocking density, that should be balanced with good environmental and feed management. This study aimed to analyze the production and business performance of fingerlings in a recirculation system to increase the eel survival and growth rate. The study used a completely randomized design with three different stocking densities, namely 4 g/L (A), 5 g/L (B), and 6 g/L (C). The average weight of each fingerling was 20 ± 4.09 g, that was kept in a 1.5-m3 pond with a recirculation system. Feeding was performed two times a day using commercial feed with probiotic supplementation. The results showed that different stocking densities significantly affected feed conversion ratio, total biomass weight, and coefficient of variance. However, different stocking densities had no significant effect on survival rate, absolute weight growth rate, specific weight growth rate, and condition factor. The C treatment obtained the highest profit with an R/C ratio of 1.20 ± 0.03. The best production and cultivation performance of eel fingerling in a recirculation system with different stocking densities is found in treatment C (6 g/L). Keywords: Anguilla bicolor, business performance, production performance, recirculation system, stocking density ABSTRAK Budidaya ikan sidat (Anguilla bicolor) pada segmen pembesaran memerlukan benih yang baik khususnya untuk benih fingerling. Abstract

Increasing of the fisheries problems, especially the decline of fisheries resources stock, made the sustainable issues become intense discussed in fisheries. The importance of the system indicator for fisheries sustainable development are widely known and have been done in several countries through tremendous effort in their fisheries development. In Indonesia, the assessment of fisheries sustainability has been carried out with various approaches to sustainability assessment, mostly on management status. This study aims to assess the rate of sustainable development and management of the reef fisheries in Indonesia using the integrated index approach of sustainability aspect using the multi-dimensional scaling procedures with a case study of reef fisheries at Ternate Island. The result shows that the sustainable development index of reef fisheries at the coastal area of Ternate Island tends to move toward sustainable development within integrated management from all sustainable dimensions. Dimensionally, economic and social dimensions show a positive trend on sustainable development, while ecological and technological dimensions tend to show the inverse direction. The relationship between economic and social benefits obtained from reef fisheries to improving the community well-being will provide a positive trend for the sustainability of reef fisheries. However, on the other hand, the increase in production can lead to overfishing for the reef fisheries resources. Management policy that integrated every indicator of sustainable fisheries dimension may extend the chance to develop reef fisheries at the coastal area of Ternate Island within the sustainability of the resources and ecosystems management. Keywords: Sustainable development, integrated management, fisheries management, sustainability index, coral reef

Abstract

Jatigede Reservoir receives water masses and materials from the Cimanuk River, such as nutrients, sediments, and waste, including microplastics. This study aims to analyze the presence of microplastics in the digestive tract of caught fish in Jatigede Reservoir. Fish samples were obtained from fishermen, fish collectors, and fish farmers. Microplastic observations were carried out in the stomach and intestines of fish through the stages of observing fish eating habits, extraction, followed by FTIR analysis to determine the presence, abundance, and type of polymer. Carnivorous fish have the highest amount of microplastics. There is a marked difference between the amount of microplastics and the origin of fish intake. The shorter the fish's gut, the greater the amount of microplastics found. Based on their shape, the type of microplastic is dominated by fibers with a blue color. The most common polymer found is nylon. The digestive tract of fish in Jatigede Reservoir already contains microplastics of various types and colors, with varying amounts, according to the nature of eating fish.

Abstract

Information abundance and distribution of fish larvae in coastal waters of East Lampung currently very limited. The research aimed to improve the knowledge of the early life of organisms, in order to manag biodiversity and biological resources in the waters. Research station representing the several water sectors: in-shore, near-shore, and off-shore. The research was a representation of eastern monsoon (June) and transition monsoon (September) in 2017. Fish larvae was harvested using bonggo-net tool while its identification to family level using portable Dino-lite. Based on the result the Abundance of fish larvae in eastern monsoon was higher than transition monsoon. This research found 81 families of fish larvae. There were 10 dominant families, that are Gobiidae, Pegasidae, Mullidae, Pomacentridae, Sillaginiidae, Bleniidae, Bythitidae, Carangidae, Pseudochromidae and Bothidae. The distribution of fish larvae in the lower in-shore was higher than near-shore and off-shore, while east and transitional seasons have not much different larval catches.  Temperature, salinity and pH parameters indicated optimal range state for survival and growth of fish larvae, brightness and turbidity in accordance with water quality standards, currents velocity on eastern monsoon is very fast while transition monsoon is fast to very fast. Phytoplankton and zooplankton showed sufficient natural food availability for the life of fish larvae. Result Canonnical Corespondence Analysis (CCA) analysis to connectivity of abundance and larvae distribution showed that the brightness parameter forming a point projection while other water environment condition parameters form a vector projection in both period of monsoon. The abundance and fish larvae distribution in coastal waters of East Lampung in all three sectors of the waters had proportionality to the parameters of environmental conditions, especially the current parameters and the difference of the monsoon period.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems are crucial for sustaining tropical coastal environments and play a vital role in climate change mitigation through their capacity to sequester and store blue carbon in both vegetation and sediment. Despite their ecological value, mangroves in Jakarta Bay are under increasing pressure from coastal development, land conversion, pollution, and unsustainable exploitation. These anthropogenic threats reduce mangrove cover and diminish their ability to function as carbon sinks. This study examined mangrove carbon stocks at four locations Muara Village, Kapuk Muara, Marunda, and Muara Jaya Village through vegetation surveys, biomass measurement, and the calculation of the Important Value Index (IVI) to analyze species composition and dominance. The results demonstrated considerable variation in biomass and carbon reserves across sites. Muara Village recorded the highest biomass (558.72 tons ha⁻¹) and carbon stock (262.59 tons ha⁻¹), followed by Kapuk Muara (411.18 tons ha⁻¹), Muara Jaya (365.39 tons ha⁻¹), and Marunda, which had the lowest values (208.9 tons ha⁻¹). Dominant species included Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia marina, reflecting their ecological adaptability and contribution to blue carbon storage. The findings emphasize that mangrove areas with higher biomass and carbon reserves are critical for maintaining ecosystem resilience in Jakarta Bay. Conservation and restoration should therefore prioritize sites with strong carbon storage potential, while degraded areas require rehabilitation to enhance ecological services. Strengthening mangrove management will not only support biodiversity and coastal protection but also contribute significantly to regional climate change mitigation strategies through the preservation of blue carbon.

Abstract

Abstract

The coastal area of East Lampung Regency is one of the main centers for whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) aquaculture in Lampung Province. However, the area’s shrimp production has highly fluctuated. For example, in 2019-2021, the production decreased from 10,504 tons to 5,903 tons. This study aimed to evaluate the land suitability, water and soil quality of shrimp ponds located in the coastal of East Lampung Regency which use two types of farming technology: traditional and semi-intensive or intensive. The measured parameters included: (1) physical suitability parameters: land height from sea level, land use, distance from the beach and river; (2) water quality parameters: temperature, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and phosphate; and (3) soil quality parameters: pH and types of sediment. The level of land suitability was determined using the geographic information system (GIS) approach, in which a weighted overlay method was employed. The suitability classification of water and soil quality was based on the standard in the Decree of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number 75/2016. The results showed that 491.45 ha was categorized as highly suitable (S1) and suitable (S2) and 9,662.61 ha as marginally suitable (S3) for traditional farming. For semi-intensive or intensive farming were located in the S1 and S2 of 11.61 ha and S3 category of 10,416.58 ha. Water and soil quality varied in each research site but generally still met the required standard, only the water salinity of the semi-intensive/intensive did not meet the required standards of whiteleg shrimp farming. The study concludes that the location of the ponds in S3 land and the inappropriate salinity directly affect the success and stable production of shrimp farming in the area.

Abstract

Titlle:  Rights-Based Inland Water Fishery Management In Sebangau River, Sebangau National Park Central KalimantanThe Sebangau River, Central Kalimatan, consists of mainstream as common area and tributaries as controlled area of fishing ground by means of rights-based management.
