Abstract

Penelitian ini melaporkan tentang perbandingan kekuatan fleksural dan impack terhadap komposit Polietilenateraptalat (PET), Polipropilen (PP) dan Polietilen (PE) yang menggunakan filler fiber glass dengan berbagai variabel. Dimana untuk komposit PET menggunakan softenning agent o-klorofenol sedangkan untuk PP dan PE menggunakan waiting agent xilena. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pengepresan dengan hot press, temperatur leleh maksimum yang didapatkan untuk masing-masing bahan termoplastik yaitu PET 265 oC, PP 167 oC, dan PE 135 oC. Nilai fleksural yang terbaik pada masing-masing komposit diperoleh pada PET - 3 lapis serat 533.33 Mpa, PP - 2 lapis serat 566.66 Mpa, dan PE - 2 lapis serat 600,00 Mpa. Untuk uji impact diperoleh nilai terbaik masing-masing pada komposit PET - 3 lapis serat 25,5 Mpa, komposit PP-2 lapis serat 29,5 Mpa, dan komposit PE - 2 lapis serat 21,5 Mpa.Kata kunci : Komposit, Poplietilenteraptalat, Polipropilen, Polietilen, Fiber Glass

Abstract

Plant tolerance mechanism under shade stress is indicated by high chlorophyll-b content, which is synthesized from chlorophyll a by chlorophyll a-oxygenase (CAO) gene. The study was aimed to clone and characterize the partial of CAO gene involved in shade tolerance mechanism in soybean.  Total RNA was isolated from the second trifoliate leaves of soybean plants and the first strand cDNA was prepared using Reverse Transcriptase Moloney Murine Leukemia Virus (RT-M-MLV) (RNase H-). Northern blot hybridization was used to analyze expression of partial CAO gene. The result showed that one partial gene, CAO 3-4 (1,052 bp), comprised of 292 adenine (a), 241 cytosine (c), 276 guanine (g) and 242 thymine (t), therefore the number of amino acid deduction was 338.  The expression of CAO 3-4 partial gene was higher in shade tolerant genotypes than in shade sensitive genotypes, both under 50% shade and dark. These results demonstrated that the CAO gene is involved in shade tolerance mechanism of soybean.

Abstract

Foxtail millet (Setaria italica L.) is an important crop in areas where harsh environmental conditions limit crop productivity, including in high salinity and drought prone areas. In Indonesia millet is cultivated in certain areas; however, superior varieties are less developed in the country. The objective of this study was to analyze the genetic diversity among foxtail genotypes using RAPD markers. Genomic DNA of ten foxtail millet genotypes was amplified using 26 random primers through RAPD analysis. Of these primers, 22 produced reproducible amplicons and were polymorphic among the 10 foxtail millet genotypes. The number of polymorphic markers for each primer varied from 1 (primer E15) to 14 (primer M17). The amplified product size ranged from 120 to 2500 base pairs (bp). A dendrogram constructed based on the UPGMA clustering method put all genotypes in 5 distinct groups at 0.64 coefficient level. Diverse genotypes identified in this study can be used as potential parents in an efficient crop improvement program.

Abstract

Cassava plant is widely cultivated by Indonesian people. Research on the development of roots and tubers of cassava is still limited. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of stem cut size on the root development system and tuber filling in the cassava local genotype “Manggu”. This study consisted of two experiments namely experiments in polybag and in the field. The study was conducted in the IPB experimental field at Cikabayan in December 2017-July 2018. The experiment used a randomized completely block design (RCBD) with two treatments and three replications, namely cuttings of 15 cm and 30 cm. Observation of basal roots, number of nodal roots, length of basal roots, length of nodal roots, number of tubers, number of leaves, plant diameter, and plant height were carried out destructively every week. The results showed that the root bulking process occurred in the nodal root and basal roots and it was observed since 5 WAP. The results showed a positive correlation between the total number of tubers and the number of tubers formed from nodal and basal roots, the number of basal roots, and the length of basal roots and it was negatively correlated with the number of leaves. The number of tubers from nodal roots is positively correlated with the number of basal root tubers while it is negatively correlated with the length of the nodal root. The development of roots into cassava tubers occurred since 5 WAP. Cutting size treatments significantly did not affect root development. Keywords: basal root, nodal root, stem cutting, stem length

Abstract

This study describes the management of Arabic language learning programs for First Year Students at STIBA Ar Rayyah Sukabumi. The output produced has high Arabic skills and competencies. This is motivated by the existence of a one-year language preparation program in the first year. This study aims to describe the planning, organizing, implementing and overseeing the management process of the Arabic language learning program for First Year Students at STIBA Ar Rayyah Sukabumi. This study uses a qualitative research methodology with a type of case study research. The results of this study indicate that 1) the planning of the learning program is based on musyawaroh with several stages, namely observation, coordination meetings, compiling work programs, implementing programs, 2) organizing the program well structured, and policy holders is idaroh 'ulya, 3) Program implementation through language acquisition, atta'allum atta'awuni (mutual cooperation system), regeneration, bi'ah lughowiyah (language environment), 4) program supervision is direct by idaroh 'ulya.

Abstract

The early 28 days of life called the neonatal period is the most vulnerable period for infants. The infants face the highest risk of death in the first month after birth. The most common cause of infant death is asphyxia, prematurity, and infection. Infection in newborns is defined as a condition where the newborns have a disease caused by microorganisms. One of the risk factors causing infection in newborns includes factors from the mother, such as premature rupture of membranes, green or meconium and smelly amniotic fluid, maternal infection, and others. The main objective of this research was to describe the risk factors of incidence of infection in newborns at RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda. This research uses a retrospective descriptive method with the cross-sectional approach. Sampling was done by taking data on medical records of patients at the RSUD Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Medical Record Installation using total sampling technique. The results obtained were 99 samples that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria with details of patients who experienced premature rupture of membranes by 18 people (18,2%), poor amniotic color by 62 people (62,6%), mothers who had leukocytosis by 15 people (15,2%), and the incidence of infection in newborns by 2 people (2%). the collected data were tabulated bu frequency and percentage and displayed in tables

Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute respiratory infection that affects the lung parenchyma, which is still the leading cause of children under-five mortality throughout the world. Age 1-24 months, low birth weight, and undernourished are the risk factors for pneumonia. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the characteristics of children under-five patients with pneumonia in Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda, based on the risk factors. This research is a descriptive observational study. The samples of this study were all the pneumonia children under-five patients who were hospitalized at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital in January-December 2018, according to the characteristics of the sample set by the researchers, which were taken by purposive sampling technique. The data used were secondary data obtained from patient medical records, taken in June 2019 at the Medical Record Installation, Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Hospital. The number of samples obtained was 42 pneumonia patients. More children suffering from pneumonia were found in age 1-24 months (78.6%), normal birth weight (61.9%), and undernourished (57.1%).

Abstract

Daun ungu (Graptophyllum pictum) atau dalam bahasa Sunda : handeuleum merupakan salah satu tanaman yang berkhasiat untuk mengobati penyakit wasir, melancarkan buang air seni, melancarkan haid dan lain-lain. Salah satu kendala dalam budidaya tanaman ialah serangan ulat pemakan daun. Ulat ini sangat rakus sehingga tanaman yang diserang dapat menjadi gundul. Ulat pemakan daun yang menyerang tanaman daun ungu di Jawa Barat ialah Doles-challia bisaltide, sedang di Maluku dan Papua masing-masing Doleschallia nacar dan Doleschallia hexophtalmos. Selain serangga tersebut juga terdapat kutu tanaman dan trips yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman daun ungu. Untuk mengetahui kutu tanaman dan trips tersebut maka dilakukan identifikasi se-rangga-serangga tersebut yang beraso-siasi dengan tanaman daun ungu dari Jawa Barat, Maluku, dan Papua sejak April sampai Juni 2010. Kutu tanaman dan trips, dikoleksi dengan memasukkan masing-masing ke dalam botol gelas yang berisi alkohol 70%, dibuat preparat mikroskop di laboratorium, kemudian diidentifikasi dengan menggunakan buku kunci identifikasi. Selain itu, juga dilaku-kan pengamatan serangan kutu tanaman utama yang menyerang daun ungu. Hasil identifikasi menunjukkan bahwa kutu tanaman dan trips yang berasosiasi dengan tanaman daun ungu ialah Rastro-coccus viridarii Williams (Hemiptera : Pseudococcidae), kututempurung Sais-setia neglecta De Lotto (Hemiptera : Coccidae), Insignorthezia insignis Browne (Hemiptera : Ortheziidae), kutudaun Aphis gossypii Glover (Hemiptera : Aphididae), dan Astrothrips tumiceps Karny (Thysanoptera : Thripidae). Serangan kututempurung S. neglecta di rumah kaca pada tanaman muda dapat menyebabkan kematian tanaman daun ungu.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPerbanyakan tebu umumnya dilakukan secara vegetatif mengguna- kan setek. Teknik ini mempunyai keterbatasan memproduksi jumlah bibit dalam skala besar. Dalam rangka mendukung peningkatan produktivitas, maka perlu pemenuhan bibit tebu dalam skala besar. Kultur jaringan merupakan   teknologi   alternatif   yang   dapat   dikembangkan   untuk pemenuhan bibit dalam jumlah yang banyak. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendapatkan formulasi media terbaik untuk induksi kalus dan regenerasi tebu varietas Kidang Kencana dan PSJT 941. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Unit Pengelola Benih Unggul Pertanian, Pusat Penelitian dan  Pengembangan  Perkebunan,  Bogor  dari  bulan  Februari  sampai September 2012. Penelitian terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu induksi kalus, regenerasi tunas dan perakaran, serta aklimatisasi. Bahan tanaman tebu yang digunakan adalah daun muda varietas Kidang Kencana dan PSJT 941 yang masih menggulung. Empat formulasi media digunakan pada tahap induksi kalus. Sementara itu, pada tahap regenerasi tunas dan perakaran menggunakan tujuh formulasi media. Aklimatisasi menggunakan media tanah steril dan kompos (2:1). Percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang disusun secara faktorial, terdiri atas dua faktor dan diulang sepuluh kali. Faktor pertama adalah varietas dan kedua adalah formulasi media. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan media induksi kalus terbaik untuk varietas  Kidang  Kencana  adalah 2,4-D 9 µM  +  Picloram  4,5  µM, sedangkan PSJT 941 adalah 2,4-D 13,5 µM. Media regenerasi dapat digunakan untuk menginduksi tunas sekaligus perakaran. Media regenerasi terbaik varietas Kidang Kencana dan PSJT 941 adalah IBA 2,46 µM + BAP 1,33 µM. Kedua varietas dapat diaklimatisasi di rumah kaca dengan tingkat keberhasilan tinggi (80-100%).Kata kunci: Saccharum officinarum, tebu, kultur jaringan, organogenesis,                 perbanyakan Callus Induction and Plant Regeneration of Two Sugarcane Varieties (Saccharum officinarum L.) through In VitroABSTRACTGenerally, sugarcane propagation was done by vegetative cuttings. The technique had limitation of producing seeds in a large scale. In order to increase productivity of sugarcane, it is required to provide sugarcane seeds in large scale. Tissue culture is an alternative technique that can be developed to provide the seeds. The objective of this research was toobtain the best formulations for callus induction and regeneration of Kidang Kencana and PSJT 941 varieties. The study was conducted in the Laboratory of Superior Farm Seeds Management Unit, Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development, Bogor from February until September 2012. The researches were carried out in three steps, name lycallus induction, regeneration of shoots and roots, and acclimatization. Explant  material  used  was  young  rolled  leaves  collected  from  two sugarcane  varieties (Kidang  Kencana  and  PSJT 941).  Four  media formulations used for callus induction, while seven media formulations used for shoots and roots regeneration. Acclimatization used sterile soil and compost (2:1). The experiment arranged in Factorial Completely Randomized Design with two factors and ten replications. The first factor was varieties and second factor was media formulations. The results showed that the best callus induction media for Kidang Kencana was 2.4- D 9 µM + Picloram 4.5 µM, while for PSJT 941 was 2.4-D 13.5 µM. Regeneration  media  could  induce both  shoots  and  roots.  The  best regeneration media for Kidang Kencana and PSJT 941 were IBA 2.46 µM + BAP 1.33 µM. They could be acclimatized successfully in green house with highly percentage (80-100%).Key words:  Saccharum officinarum,  sugarcane, tissue culture, organo- genesis, multiplication

Abstract

Postharvest deterioration is a major problem which is an obstacle for cassava handling both for conventional cassava variety and mutant variety. There are two types of postharvest deterioration on cassava, namely postharvest primary deterioration (PPD) or primer deterioration of physiological deterioration, and microbiological deterioration. Damage can be minimized by carrying out storage in optimal conditions. This study aimed to determine the level of postharvest deterioration on cassava variety R and U during 35 days of storage. The storage treatment was storage consist of 1) wooden boxes and moist sawdust storage (P1)  and  2)control storage (P2). The results indicated that RP2 and UP2  produced physiological deterioration by 25% on the 7th day of storage and reached 100% on the 35th day of storage. Meanwhile, the percentage of microbiological deterioration reached more than 20% on the 14th day of storage. On the other hand,  RP1 and RP2 indicated good results. Both varieties experienced only less than 25% physiological deterioration and did not experience microbiological deterioration during storage.
