Abstract

Educational institutions will basically get many benefits from using technology, such as augmented reality technology which is designed to support the learning process in the classroom, plus augmented reality technology can be operated on smartphones. This study aims to analyze the opportunities for the use of smartphones in the context of innovation in the development of learning media with augmented reality formats. A qualitative approach was used in this study with a survey method. The population used is Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students with a sample was 127 students. The data collection technique in this study was a non-test technique, with the data collection instrument being a questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that smartphones are a technology that is quite familiar to students, considering that most students have them, students also like learning activities that utilize smartphones because they contain several components such as text, graphics, narration, video and even animation. The results of this study can certainly be the basis for developing an augmented reality-based learning media product considering the components that make students motivated to learn are contained in it. Through this research, it is hoped that new learning resource innovations will emerge with the hope that students can be facilitated in learning the material and mastering the various competencies they need.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) transmission prevention centering on family is an effective strategy to suppress the emergence of new clusters of pulmonary TB transmission. The commitment of family heads and several factors are related to this action. This study was conducted to identify, examine, and analyze the determinants of family commitment in preventing the transmission of pulmonary TB. This study applied a quantitative cross-sectional approach to 170 family heads of pulmonary TB patients using proportionate simple random sampling. The family health promotion model (FHPM) was used to analyze family commitment determinants in preventing TB transmission. Data were collected using a questionnaire. SEM analysis was utilized to determine the paths and the relationship between family function, perception of the disease transmission risk, as well as family support, and commitment to action to prevent TB transmission. This study recorded that 50.6% of respondents were male with an average age of 46.75 ± 46 and an age range of 36-55 years, 53% had a high school education; 25.9% were self-employed; had an average decent living need of 1.93 ± 0.85, 75.3% had nuclear family, and 47.1% were from patriarchal family. Model fit was achieved in the structural equation (Chi-square (χ2) = 173.44; df = 71, RMSEA = 0.072≤ 0.08; GFI = 0.90≥ 0.90; RMR = 0.019≤ 0.05; NFI = 0.98≥ 0.90; CFI = 0.99≥ 0.90; TLI = 0.98≥ 0.95; IFI = 0.99≥ 0.90; PGFI = 0.59; PNFI = 0,76). All dimensions and item scales are significantly related to their respective latent constructs. All factors forming the FHPM framework have a significant positive direct effect between latent variables. Factors from the FHPM framework significantly (family function t = 8.74, perception t = 4.46, and family support t = 7.37) have an influence on commitment to action to prevent pulmonary TB transmission. Family function is the most powerful factor explaining commitment to preventive action. This study reveals the paths and influences of family function, perception, and support on a commitment to prevent pulmonary TB transmission through structural model analysis.

Abstract

One of the competencies in 21st-century learning is critical thinking (CT). Many lessons carried out by teachers do not touch this ability because of the lack of learning innovation and the use of IT-based learning resources. This study aimed to determine and analyze the effect of using the OER (Open Educational Resources)-assisted Blended learning model on vocational students' critical thinking skills. The type of research used mixed methods with embedded design. The samples were 54 students of the Multimedia program at VHS (Vocational High School) in Surakarta, Indonesia, and the instrument used a test based on critical thinking skills, according to Facione. Quantitative data analysis used an independent t-test and the qualitative data used criteria for achieving students' critical thinking skills. The results of the study support the expectation that the BL model assisted by OER has a significant effect on student learning outcomes and that students have excellent critical thinking skills on the indicators of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, explanation, and inference.  On the other hand, students are weak in self-regulation.

Abstract

Employability skills is an essential aspect for job seekers because employers and the world of work need it; however, many job seekers have the low employability skills. This study aims to reveal the need of SocioTech learning models through blended learning to overcome low students employability skills. The  descriptive research used to determine the level of employability skills among students, the analysis used the descriptive statistical analysis technique, and it used literature study to examine the SocioTech learning model. The results of the study showed the overall assessment of employability skills, revealing 31.58% of students to have average employability skills; 44.74% of students in the fair category; 23.68% of students classified as poor. Recommendation of SocioTech learning model through blended learning to improve employability skills consisted of six stages: 1) determining the topic of problems and groups through dialectics online and face to face (f2f); 2) planning investigations through collaboration and dialectics online and f2f; 3) conducting investigations through collaboration and dialectics online and f2f; 4) planning presentations through collaboration and dialectics online and f2f; 5) making presentations through collaboration, reflection, and dialectics online and face to face; and 6) evaluating group results online and f2f.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of industrial apprenticeship and self-efficacy on teaching readiness. The research method used is the survey method. The population in this study were 118 graduates of mechanical engineering education who taught as teachers. The sampling technique used random sampling with as many as 91 respondents. The results of the data have been normally distributed and linear. The results of the data did not occur multicollinearity with a tolerance value of 0.399 0.10 and VIF 2.508 10. The results of the data did not show heteroscedasticity. The regression equation obtained is Y = 4,443 + 0,464X 1 + 0,578X 2. Based on the results of the industrial apprenticeship T-test on teaching readiness of 4.510 1.987 where Tcount Ttable, there is a partial effect of industrial apprenticeship on teaching readiness. The results of the T-test, self-efficacy on teaching readiness amounted to 4.840 1.987 where Tcount Ttable, so there is a partial effect of self-efficacy on teaching readiness. The results of the F hypothesis test (Fcount Ftable is 97.347 3.10. Based on the coefficient of determination, industrial apprenticeship and self-efficacy affect teaching readiness by 0.689. So, in conclusion, there is a positive influence between industrial apprenticeship and self-efficacy on readiness for teaching graduates of Mechanical Engineering Education.
