Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Central Sulawesi is the first rank of cocoa beans supplier in Indonesia. Unfortunately, climate change resulted on emerging of cacao pests and diseases that causes continuously decreasing productivity of cacao farm. Consequently, farmers have been converted their cocoa farm to others farm. This has been impacted on macro-economy of Central Sulawesi. Generally, the aim of this study is to analyze impact of climate change on macro-economy of Central Sulawesi for case cocoa beans commodity. Particularly, the aim of this study is (i) to analyze impact of climate change on productivity of cacao farm; (ii) to estimate effect of the productivity on GDRP of cocoa beans; (iii) to estimate effect of the GDRP of cocoa beans on macro-economy of Central Sulawesi; and (iv) to estimate trends of macro-economy of Central Sulawesi. Analyze method was econometric simultaneous equation of double logarithm model. Data used was secondary data, 2000 – 2014, namely GDRP of Central Sulawesi, areal size of cacao, production volume of cocoa beans, prices of cocoa beans at farm level. The result of analyze showed that climate change has been impacted on productivity of cacao farm. It was indicated by coefficient of year as a proxy insignificant affect to variety of productivity of cacao farm, so it could be interpreted that the productivity to be constant.  Consequently, the productivity couldn’t push up GDRP of cocoa beans. However, GDRP of cocoa beans could still push up the macro-economy of Central Sulawesi. The macro-economy of Central Sulawesi was increasing. Thus, although climate change impacted on the productivity, but GDRP of cocoa beans could still push up the macro-economy of Central Sulawesi.  It means that management of pest and disease of cacao farm in a prototype to be important performed.   Key Words: Cocoa beans commodity, impact of climate change, macro-economy of Central Sulawesi.

Data were collected from 250 farmer households which were randomly selected in ten villages at six subdistricts of Donggala Regency. All the farmers were interviewed with an aid of questionnaire. Data collected were tabulated and analysed using a multiple regresion model. Dummy variable was applied to identify the impact of enso towards households’ farmer income. The analysis showed that R2 was 60.9% with an F-value of 139, indicating that there was the impact of enso on households' farmer income. The households’ farmer income in the year without enso was shown to be higher than that in the year with enso.

This research aimed to analyze the sector of palm oil commodity base in everysub district in Morowali district. The research location was purposively determined witha consideration that Morowali district is one of the central areas and is potential in the field of oil palm plantations. The analytical method used waslocation quotient analysis (LQ). The results of theresearch shows that during 2012-2015, two sub districts had LQ values >1 which were Tanah Raya with the LQ value equal to 1.10, and Witaponda with thehighest LQ value equal 1.13.  These indicate that the two sub districts should be recognized as basis because they are able to meet the needs for their own region as well as for exports.  The LQ value of oil palm commodity in Morowalidistrict was 3.35 in average during 2012-2015.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to identifying basis and non basis commodities in food crop sub-sectors in South Buko sub-district; to identifying changes in the role of basis and non basis commodities in food crop sub-sectors in South Buko sub-district; and to identifying the growth and competitiveness of commodities in food crop sub-sector in South Buko District. Data were analyzed using Location Quotient, Dynamic Location Quotient and Shift Share analysis. There were two types of basis commodities i.e. peanuts and sweet potatoes with an average LQ values of 2.64 and 1.01, respectively. Similarly, the two commodities were also expected to be the basis commodities for the future with the average values of DLQ were 4.59 and 1.40, respectively.  The combined analysis of Location Quotient and Dynamic Location Quotient shows that both commodities will remain the basis crops for the present and the future whereas corn and cassava will remain non-basis commodities. The proportional growth of all food crops sub-sector commodities are positive as well as the regional share growth of corn. On the contrary peanuts, cassava and sweet potatoes are negative.
