Abstract

During the pandemic of COVID-19, the utilization of online platforms is essential for the learning process. This research aims to determine differences in student learning outcomes using the Whatsapp and Google Meet platforms in distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic with Energy Material in the Life System of Junior High School Students. The type of research is experimental research. This study's sample was class VII A students totaling 34 students and class VII B students totaling 33 students—data collection using multiple-choice questions to measure student learning outcomes (posttest) and confirmation through interview. The results showed no difference in student learning outcomes using the Whatsapp and Google Meet platforms in distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Students show different engagement through the two platforms.

Abstract

Comics are visual media to convey messages entertainingly so that they can be used in education and have become a tool that can promote the enjoyment of learning. This study aims to explore students' learning outcomes on Newton's Law material when using comic-based learning media. This study uses a quasi-experimental design method in the form of a non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study are all students of class X MIPA of SMAN 1 Muara Badak in the 2021/2022 academic year, where the sample used is class X MIPA 2 as the experimental class and class X MIPA 3 as the control class. The experimental class applies comic-based learning media, and the control class uses conventional learning media. The data were collected using pre-test and post-test and then analyzed using the n-gain and independent t-test analysis. This study has established that comic-based learning media is better than conventional learning media. The results showed a significantly different learning outcome between the experimental and the control classes with the acquisition of sig-2 tailed 0.000. In addition, the results of the assessment also showed an increase in student learning outcomes, seen from the results of the n-gain test, where the experimental class showed a higher accumulation of 0.3779 and entered the average category compared to the control class, which was only 0, 1090, which is in the low category. Based on these results, comics could be a supportive media to learn physics at the high school level.

Abstract

Cognitive ability is the student's mastery of the cognitive realm. This study aimed to determine student learning outcomes and what factors caused student errors in solving cognitive test questions on temperature and heat material. The type of research is descriptive quantitative research. The population in this study were students in class XI IPA at SMA Negeri 2 Bontang, amounting to 3 classes with a total sample size of 30 students in class XI IPA 1 and 30 students in class XI IPA 2. Data collection was used to test techniques in the form of 10 essay questions to determine learning outcomes. The results showed that student learning outcomes in solving cognitive test questions on temperature and heat material at the creating level (C6) were categorized as lacking because only 30%, at the level of evaluating (C5) and analyzing (C4) 56% and 66% respectively. The cognitive abilities of students at the level of remembering (C1) and understanding (C2) have shown very well because the percentage obtained is relatively high, namely remembering (C1) by 97% and understanding (C2) by 84%. Moreover, students' cognitive abilities at the level of applying (C3) were good because the percentage obtained was 81%. Students' most common error factors when solving cognitive test questions in terms of temperature and heat were misconceptions, strategy errors, errors in using data, and calculation errors. Error factors that often appear, especially in concept errors, need to get more attention to support students' learning physics.

Abstract

The importance of laboratory management in science education at schools is crucial for creating an optimal learning environment. This qualitative research was conducted at Junior High School A and Junior High School B in Samarinda, focusing on laboratory safety and management. The results indicate a strong awareness of potential hazards, equipment safety, and user safety. However, differences in material safety management were identified, providing valuable insights for improvement. Research recommendations emphasize the need for educational efforts on safety and occupational health in school laboratories to enhance safety standards.
