Abstract

Numerous social education communities have emerged to support the education of children by providing free learning facilities, relying on support from external parties for the implementation of their activities. However, this support is voluntary, making it irregular and uncertain, posing challenges and obstacles for the community in carrying out its initiatives. This research aims to investigate how the Satoe Atap community manages to secure support to aid the education of underprivileged families' children. It employs a qualitative research approach using a case study method within the post-positivism paradigm. Data collection techniques involve in-depth interviews with pattern-matching analysis. The research incorporates Anthony Giddens' Structuration Theory and John A. Ledingham's Relationship Management Theory. The findings indicate that Satoe Atap's communication management to obtain support is achieved through several methods. The planning process is documented through regular meeting activities. The execution process is evident in every activity conducted by Satoe Atap, such as managing social media, organizing events, and maintaining relationships with those who have previously assisted them. As a form of evaluation, Satoe Atap consistently assesses its activities to implement improvements for future events. However, the research results reveal that Satoe Atap has not fully implemented two-way relationship maintenance with all parties, and the community lacks specialized training for its internal management team.

Abstract

Waste is an environmental problem that is still not fully resolved properly even though the resulting impact has a major effect on environmental pollution, especially solid medical waste. The purpose of this study was to assess the characteristics of solid medical waste at Undata Hospital based on its sources and types, calculate the average weight of solid medical waste generated per day, and evaluate the solid medical waste management system with sorting, packaging, collection and transportation modes in accordance with the criteria of Permen of Environment and Forestry Number 56 of 2015 and Permenkes Number 2 of 2023. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. This research was conducted in August-September 2023. The sampling technique in this study used Purposive Sampling, with 18 informants selected from each unit/room/installation at Undata Hospital, Palu City. Based on the results of the study, it was found that every day Undata Palu Hospital produces domestic waste as much as ± 270 kg / day. The results of the evaluation of the solid medical waste management system at Undata Palu Hospital show that basically it is quite effective but not optimal, because the storage process shows non-compliance with the guidelines for medical waste management by the Ministry of Health Number 2 of 2023, namely storage in TPS which should not be more than 2x24 hours, but in fact the accumulation of solid medical waste is stored for 1 month in the LB3 TPS due to delays in transportation by third parties. This causes a large amount of solid waste in the TPS so that the TPS becomes full and dangerous because the waste undergoes a process of decomposition and decay, which is harmful to the environment and human health. Undata Hospital needs to maximize the procurement of internal medical waste processing equipment (incineration equipment) which needs to be supported by the Environmental Agency and the relevant Health Office to prevent environmental pollution from medical activities.

Abstract

The Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) is an integral information system used in hospitals, significantly impacting the performance of both service providers and patients. Enhancing the implementation of HMIS, particularly through system updates, can facilitate easier processes and access for patients and service providers. Digitalizing HMIS enables the production of highly useful information that can be more effectively shared among healthcare workers at all levels of the healthcare organization. The current study utilized a cross-sectional design, involving a sample of 639 hospital employees from various districts and cities in Indonesia. The independent variables examined were the maturity of financing and network technology, while the dependent variable was the digitalization of the HMIS. Data collection was conducted via a structured questionnaire, and the collected data were analyzed using a linear regression test. The analysis revealed that both financing maturity (b= 1.24; 95% CI= 0.59 to 1.89; p<0.001) and network technology infrastructure (b= 1.64; 95% CI= 0.96 to 2.33; p<0.001) had a significant positive effect on HMIS digitalization. These results underscore the importance of adequate financing and robust network technology in advancing the digitalization of HMIS. The findings suggest that hospital administrators should prioritize securing mature financing mechanisms and investing in advanced network technology infrastructure to enhance HMIS digitalization. Improved digitalization of HMIS can lead to better information sharing and coordination among healthcare providers, ultimately improving hospital performance and patient care.

Abstract

The development of the Kendal Industrial Estate (KIK), as part of Indonesia's national industrialization agenda, has resulted in large-scale land conversion in Wonorejo Village, Kendal. This study aims to deeply examine the transformation of fish farmers’ lives following the conversion of agrarian space into industrial zones. Employing a qualitative approach through an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) design, this research explores the subjective experiences of five directly affected farmers. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the relocation of fish ponds triggered income decline, disruption of local agribusiness supply chains, and a crisis in farmers’ social identity. Although some successfully transitioned to new occupations, adaptive inequality emerged due to differing levels of social and economic capital. Farmers who failed to adapt experienced structural marginalization and a loss of social status within the village community. These findings reflect a process of agrarian dispossession, where farmers lost access to the means of production without fully integrating into the modern industrial labor system. Moreover, the disappearance of ponds damaged the local food production ecosystem and eroded community-based values such as mutual cooperation. While KIK has delivered macroeconomic benefits, including increased investment and employment opportunities, the development remains poorly integrated with local economic systems in an equitable and sustainable manner. Based on these results, it is recommended that land conversion policies actively involve affected communities, ensure fair compensation, and safeguard the socio-ecological sustainability of rural livelihoods. This study emphasizes the need for development approaches that pursue not only economic growth but also justice and resilience for agrarian societies at the local level.

Abstract

Siger Innovation Hub (Sigerhub) is a business incubator that impacts efforts to develop the potential of MSMEs in Lampung Province. Sigerhub has various coaching programs such as talent hub, incubation, funding & market access, which are presented as "Siger Business Sprint" events. Considering the critical role of Business Incubators in creating enthusiasm for new businesses, evaluation of business Incubators is necessary so that empowerment of MSMEs is more optimal. This event is inseparable from communication processes. This research systematically analyzes communication patterns and strategies in events to optimize the coordination system from planning to evaluating activities so that MSME empowerment efforts can run optimally. Using organizational communication theory and innovation diffusion theory, and the research method uses descriptive qualitative with a case study approach to obtain communication patterns and strategies. The results revealed that the communication pattern in the Siger Business Sprint event used a predominantly wheel structure. The communication strategies are based on media, instructional design, participation, and marketing. Researchers found that there were obstacles to using inappropriate communication patterns and strategies in several event implementation conditions, so the benefits couldn’t reach all community groups, especially those who didn’t have businesses. Using appropriate patterns and strategies can maximize efforts to develop MSMEs and foster a spirit of entrepreneurial motivation for all community groups.
