Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia, as a global maritime axis nation, has a long history in sea trade that has shaped its cultural diversity. With its rich biodiversity and thousands of islands, Indonesia, particularly the Riau Islands, is a megabiodiverse country with strategic maritime potential. The national economy focuses on the concept of the "blue economy," with the Riau Islands expected to pioneer sustainable blue economy practices. The complex challenges faced by the Riau Islands in achieving the blue economy vision require multisectoral involvement. The pentahelix concept can be a solution to address issues of ecosystem degradation, suboptimal resource management, and limited community capacity, through collaboration between the government, industry, academia, society, and media. This study aims to evaluate the potential and challenges of the blue economy in the Riau Islands Province, as well as strategic solutions through pentahelix actor involvement. The study employs a Systematic Review method using 55 articles indexed in Scopus, Sinta Indonesia, and Google Scholar. The results show significant potential in the fisheries and marine tourism sectors, contributing notably to employment and welfare. Serious challenges such as biological pollution, climate change, and marine pollution require government strategies, including technology and renewable energy policies. Higher education institutions play a crucial role in supporting the blue economy through research and human resource development. Marine business actors and coastal tourism, with the support of society and media, are responsible for maintaining and supporting the conception of a sustainable blue economy. Synergy among all parties is key to realizing a sustainable and inclusive blue economy vision in the Riau Islands Province.

Abstract

Global population growth and improved transportation The Jakarta metropolitan area contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has implemented policies to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, but the growth of electric vehicles in the Jakarta Metropolitan Area still faces challenges. The study aims to investigate the psychological and social factors influencing people's intention to switch to electric vehicles and their contribution to the region's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The quantitative approach was taken using an online survey method on 200 Jakarta metropolitan communities with a purposive sampling withdrawal technique. This study chose the Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis technique. The analysis showed that electric vehicle knowledge and environmental concern significantly positively affected subjective norms, attitudes and perceived behavioural control. These three psychological drivers found their role in the intention to switch to electric vehicles and SDGs Contribution. Recommendations focused on strengthening fiscal transportation policies, supporting infrastructure and sustainable transportation planning at metropolitan Jakarta and national scales.

Abstract

The country's economy is evolving, driven by activities that enhance income and welfare, encompassing financial aspects, technological advances, and ecosystem preservation. The circular and intelligent economies support sustainable development through resource efficiency and technology. This study examines the role of government support, Industry 4.0 resource capability, and netizen character in driving Smart Economy and Circular Economy development and their implications for quality of life and SDGs empowerment in Indonesia. The research was conducted in five leading Smart Cities—Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, and Makassar—which represent regional innovation hubs in digital governance and smart development initiatives. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 300 respondents through structured questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that Industry 4.0 resource capability and netizen character significantly contribute to Smart Economy and Circular Economy development. However, government support does not show a significant direct effect on Smart Economy development. This finding suggests that policy ineffectiveness may stem from limited inter-institutional coordination, bureaucratic fragmentation, and inconsistent implementation across regions. In contrast, Smart Economy and Circular Economy development positively influence quality of life and SDGs empowerment. The study highlights the need to prioritize policy coordination, strengthen digital infrastructure, and enhance collaborative governance to ensure more effective Smart Economy implementation. Rather than providing broad recommendations, the results emphasize improving institutional synergy and harmonizing regional policies as key strategies to address the rejected hypotheses. These findings contribute to the growing discourse on sustainable digital transformation and offer practical implications for advancing integrated Smart-Circular development at the national level.
