Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the fluctuations of rice price and rice marketing margin changes over time in Indonesia as well as examine the causes of these changes. The method used in this research is the empirical method that uses statistical and econometric analysis tool in the classification of time series models. Data are obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the secondary data are monthly data of dry milled grain price in producer level and rice price in consumer level from 2008 to 2015. The analysis showed the rice price that uses real price data both at the level of producer and consumer are showed an upward trend. It means beside inflation, there is another factor that caused the rising of rice prices. The rice price in Indonesia tends to increase every year, it is also seemed to fluctuate over time, with a larger price fluctuations at the farm level than consumer level. The rice price in producer and consumer level did not move with the same pattern in 2014, this led to the difference marketing margins among the time. Differences rice marketing margin is due to the structure of the rice market in Indonesia is imperfectly competitive market or tend to oligopsony / oligopoly, in the market of rice trader is a price maker while rice farmers and consumers are price takers.

Abstract

The special efforts to increase rice, corn and soybean production Program (Upsus Pajale Program) that started in 2015 is one of the government's strategic programs in achieving national food security, so it is necessary to evaluate the extent of its success. This study analyzes factors that affect production levels, the efficiency of production and income of the rice farming which is involved or not involved in Upsus Pajale Program. The data consisted of primary and secondary data source. The sampling method used a disproportionale stratified random sampling method. To answer the research objectives used Cobb-Douglass production function, efficiency calculation and T-test. The result of data processing sho(wed that the rice farming which is involved in Upsus Pajale Program that: labor factor, Urea, NPK and pesticide were influenced the production, while the land, SP-36 and seed weren’t. The rice farming which is not involved in Upsus Pajale program showed that all of production factors weren’t influenced on production. The efficiency of rice farming which is involved in Upsus Pajale Program indicates that land, SP 36 and NPK are not efficient while labor, urea, pesticide and seed are efficient for technically, allocatively and economically. In rice farming which is not involved in Upsus Pajale program, the use of land and SP 36 are not efficient while labor, urea, NPK, pesticide and seed are efficient for technically, allocatively and economically. The results of the data processing also showed that income average between the two samples were difference.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence that affects changes in rubber prices at the farmer level before and during the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses panel data for 24 (twenty-four) months, from January 2019 to December 2020. The response variable (Y) is the price of rubber at the farmer level in South Sumatra Province obtained from 28 UPPB (Rubber Processing and Marketing Units). The analysis tool used is a multiple regression of panel data with the help of RStudio software. The results of the analysis using the Random Effect Model (REM) method showed that international rubber prices, rupiah exchange rates against the US dollar, world crude oil prices and synthetic rubber prices were both real influences on rubber prices at the farmer level, both before and during the covid-19 pandemic. Changes in international rubber prices during the covid-19 pandemic had a much greater positive impact on rubber prices at the farmer level than before the pandemic, while the change in rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar and world crude oil and synthetic rubber prices was smaller. Abstract

Fresh Fruit Bunch (TBS) price declines as a result of the volatility in global CPO prices likely to impact farmers in the areas of oil producers, including Musi Banyuasin District in South Sumatera which became one of the oil producers in the province. The impact is most felt is in independent farmers because the price received by independent farmers are not a price which set by the government but the price set between independent smallholders with middlemen. The decline in prices which affects the revenue decline is certainly threatening the sustainability of farming palm forward, especially in the group of independent smallholders. This condition is tested in this study aimed to analyze the impact of price reductions TBS towards sustainability forward through comparative analysis of the condition before and after the price increase TBS. From the research results prove that the decline in TBS production as a result of farming is not done in ideal due to a decreased ability to buy inputs, especially fertilizers. The decline in production and the declining price of TBS continued impact on lower revenue and income of farmers. For strengthening the testing, the results of this study also proves that the received opinion as a result of falling prices make farmers' lives getting away from standard living needs (KHL), wherein the mean average income of farmers for price reductions of Rp2.309.848,19 per family, while the average KHL by Rp3.781.551,81 per month per family. If this condition is not immediately addressed, the behavior of farmers in cultivation of oil palm will move away from the ideal conditions, and farmers are likely to switch to other more profitable farming and leave its oil palm plantations replaced with plants and other businesses.

Abstract

Commodity development of agriculture in the from of primary product in Indonesia which began with the rubber has developed abaout a century, and the relatively recent palm thirty-five years. Most of the primary product are exported to the word market and the price is always fluctuating according supply and demand conditions of the word market this led to foreign exchange earning and income economic actors foreign earnings will only be obtained if downstream industry is developed for both these commodities south Sumatra has a great opportunity to implement the downstream industry on the basis of abundant raw material resources ,the existence of a development plan in the ocean port of Tanjung Api-api, development of transport infrastructure, energy, water, and support a variety of related institutional. Of course the main actor is the both domestic and foreign, either already engaged in the crumb rubber industry as well as other industries. One location is in special economic zone (KEK) near Tanjung Api-api, and most importantly, a strong commitment and cooperation between actors coherent, government ,the public and researchers to realize the development of downstream industries of rubber and palm oil.

Abstract

Mangrove forests are the main ecosystem of life support in coastal areas that have important ecological functions.Although the mangrove forests have many important functions in the coastal areas but excessive used and not oriented to sustainabilitycause degradation of mangrove forest ecosystems. The main cause of mangrove forests degradation in the world is due to anthropogenic influences such as agricultural activities, plantations, fish and shrimp ponds, settlements, loggings (legal logging and illegal logging), pollution, mining and salt ponds. Therefore, local community participation is needed tocontrolthe utilization of mangrove forests. In addition, local people living in coastal areas are at the forefront in mangrove forests restoration because they require the existence of sustainable mangrove forest and have local wisdom that has been tested. Ecological functions and economic functions of mangrove forest ecosystems can be maintained through increasing public awareness of the importance of preservation, in order to reach the optimization and sustainability of the mangrove forests. The local communityparticipation should be supported by government, NGOs and researchers/academics.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to build a price model for premium and medium rice in South Sumatra Province, being a major centre for production in Indonesia. This was estimated using the ARCH/GARCH model, based on the weekly data obtained between March 2016 and July 2019. The results showed the occurrence of price volatility for premium and medium variety, despite the polity implementation by government. Therefore, the best volatility model was identified, termed TGARCH (1,1), with a threshold of 1, characterized by futuristic price predictability. In addition, the estimations provide an overview, and also serve as a material for policy evaluation, in order to enhance effectivity and promote the actualization of goals.
