Abstract

Caring for People with Dementia (PwD) has various negative effects that are detrimental to caregivers. The existence of Positive Aspects of Caregiving (PAC) makes the experience of caring for PwD more positive, valuable and protects caregivers from various negative impacts while caring for PwD. This study aims to explain the factors associated with PAC. These literature reviews were accessed from six databases (Scopus, CINAHL, Science Direct, ProQuest, PubMed, and SAGE Journal), with the keywords factor, positive aspects of caregiving, Dementia/ Alzheimer’s, during January 2021, limited to 2016-2020, and in English. A total of 318 journals were selected using PRISMA, then leaving 16 journals to be analyzed using The Joanna Briggs Institution Checklist. Sixteen journals were analyzed and divided into two themes, factors that affect PAC (n = 9) and factors affected by PAC (n = 7). Factors that affect PAC are caregiver characteristics, care-recipient characteristics, and social support. Factors affected by PAC are caregiving outcomes. Factors that increase PAC are lower education level, good social support, severe BPSD, shorter duration of care, and relationship with care-recipient (except spouse), and gender (male). The mediating factors that increase PAC are unmet needs and reciprocal filial piety. Factors that lower PAC are higher education level, the use of avoidance coping, and older age. We found inconsistencies in caregiver marital status and relationship with care-recipient because the finding still uncertain.

Abstract

Introduction: The incidence of Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is currently still quite high resulting in a decrease in the quality of life and increase dependence on family and health services. But until now the factors that cause DFU are still not known with certainty. This study aimed to analyze the relationship of host factors with the incidence of foot ulcers in type 2 DM patients.Method: The method used in this study was cross sectional, involving 115 patients with Type 2 diabetes who did not have other comorbidities and mental disorders. The variables studied were blood sugar levels, foot care and stress levels. Measuring instruments used were the Nottingham Assessment of Functional Footcare questionnaire and the Diabetes Distress Scale questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using the Spearman Rho test with a significance level of 0.05.Results: Most respondents had high levels of stress, poor foot care and blood sugar levels <200 md / dl. Bivariate test results showed that the host factors in this study were related to the incidence of DM ulcers including foot care (p = 0.003: r = 0.276), stress level (p = 0.049: r = 0.230), blood sugar control (p = 0.013: r = 0.184) which means that overall the variables are related to DFU events. Discussion: Overall the variables have a positive relationship. Good foot care will reduce the risk of DM ulcers. Stress levels and high blood sugar levels will increase the risk of DM ulcers. Conclusion: Factors of blood sugar levels, stress levels, and foot care can influence the incidence of DM ulcers so that interventions are needed that can improve the behavior of foot care, blood sugar levels and stress management.

The counseling method used is lecture, discussion and audiovisual where this audiovisual is in the form of a video containing material on stunting prevention. The number of respondents in this study were 20 people. Results: The results of the assessment showed that there was a difference in scores on the pre-test and post-test, namely the average score on the pretest was 8.2, while the score on the posttest showed that the average respondent was 9.55, there was an increase in value by 80%. Conclusion: Based on the counseling that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the knowledge and awareness of cadres about stunting has increased. This shows that health education is very important in overcoming health problems, especially the prevention of stunting.
